Okay, I'm going to do this for convenience, post links to previous post in each new thread, in case anyone misses it, and post this new thread link on the old post too, from now on.

---

Today's GK scene(s):

ps: If you guys think we should deal with one scene exclusively at a time, and not club same episodes, or days - like I did here, please say so? We'll go with whatever the majority say. I just found it convenient to club and upload the scenes in general, so.
---

The strings and strains between our leads continue - but one of the subtle details that stood out for me in these sequence of GK scenes is how, again, Gulaal tries to insert a 'pro-Talli' measure, which ends up being a pro-GK sign. She selects the purple for Talli, and goes on to pick the same for Kesar (on a side note: I was more than a little amazed that she'd assume Kesar to have that color in his kurta collection by default 😆 like this wasn't black or white or blue! But then, we're dealing with some very colorful characters 😆 ) Anyway - while Gulaal sets off to color coordinate Talli and Kesar - bids him with a jaisa main kehri hu waisa karna Kesar! - its pretty interesting how Kesar in 'defying' her 'word' actually commits the faux pas of color coordinating himself with Gulaal herself! Yes, not an exact maroon - but they are both in costumes which sport bases of the color prime to this show - Saffron... or as I like to call it for today, tangerine!

Which brings me to the reason behind the title. Tangerines are sweet and sour. As are, in my opinion, these initial interactions between the two. The sweet hasn't become angelic yet, and the sour not bitter. Its growing. What remains consistent is Reemz famously tagged 'charge' between the two.

We get the classic first time ever aur tu moment between GK - as Gulaal rattles off with everything and everyone minus herself - and Kesar, being Kesar, only wants to hear exactly what she isn't saying. Doesn't he always? Btw, not to miss, it always makes me shake my head and grin when Kesar tells her - kisi ki cheezon ko aise nahin chedte ... - I almost want to be Gulaal for a second and go all raised eyed at his 'kisi ki' ... and I hate to be a bully to our lovely boy, but his 'intimidating' insinuation there, as he attempts it, is too smothered by his fluster and almost amusing to me. Not just me - to Gulaal too - as is evident from the way she goes all 'cute' and says aage se dhyaan rakhungi! I'm like, alright, there goes your first effort to be taken seriously down the drain. Not all of it - its pretty obvious she's taken aback just for a second, but she's still letting it pass as one of those 'I'm grown up and independent and the boss' moments from Kesar. After all, he's always had a thing for being in that mode where he thinks he's exerting authority! Somewhere, I think Gulaal just gives him benefit of doubt in that second, and passes of the chance to feel hurt for just feeling fond about this elemental Kesar trait. She's missed him too much - and its obvious from how she jumps right back into her chattering of how terribly he has been missed.

I love Kesar's expression here. The way he's just looking at her, with that slant eyed expression which is almost unmoved by all her talk of how painful his absence was, because he's only keen on waiting for her to mention the void in her own life - there's a calculative observation in him, and an impossible to snub expectation. And so when she goes on even with names like Talli, he just has to throw it at her - aur tu? - its not entirely sarcastic. Its not hurt. its just somewhere in the middle, an ineffable mix of moods, in telling her he knows she missed him, and asking her to tell him so - even when just minutes ago, outside in the hall, she made candid public claims of the same - it doesn't matter how many times and places she says it, Kesar will still want to hear it from her next time again, be told that she missed him, be told that his absence in her life was as stark and haunting as he knows hers was in his. And Gulaal - who was happy tears and overwhelmed reactions out there in front of the entire family, is caught for a second by his blunt question. She plays it cute and sulky again, oh typical Galool 😆 - and its so heartening to see the slow transformation of Kesar's hard features into that fond hint of a smile, especially as she discretely but not quite wipes away that tear - but then she turns right back around. And ruffles his hair - a gesture that is intimate, yet patronizing at once, and hence draws the immediate wary shift in Kesar's reaction - and then she says the magic word, Vasant. The kind of magic which goes wrong, where spells backfire... sigh! I think the choice of words in her dialog at this point - teri jimmedaari jo saup kar gaya tha mujhe - is very interesting in how many ways they can trigger Kesar's temper. Not only has she brought up the sour topic obliviously, touched the sensitive chord, but also in a way hinted that Kesar is 'her responsibility'... the literal sense of the words dangerously bordering even as far as obligation. Kesar has always had a problem being treated as a kid. He has dismissed pampering part of being the baby as being the 'all important' one... but any hints, ever, of him being a 'child' have always brought a counter little boy reaction from him, which wants to assert it is grown up like everyone else. And now that he genuinely is an adult, it only worsens the case. Apart from the major wrong Gulaal commits in bringing up Vasant, I'm certain her patronizing message is neither lost on Kesar, nor goes down well with him. Even if its his secondary issue in this scene. If he ever realized she missed 'the child' around her, and not 'her Kesar' in the decade, it could ,make him duly mad. Inside his head is a world of his own, where he is just Kesar, and she is just Gulaal. No strings attached.

So anyway - tangerine moods sort of fit this scene really well - there's a whole range of emotions. Neil carries on well from the first GK scene, doesn't let the tempo or temperament fall - and although I absolutely agree with what Nur said about Neil taking his 3-4 weeks to comfortably settle into the shoes of Kesar, I think he does pull off some remarkable range of emotions within minutes of scenes with Mansi. She is the superior artist at this point - but amazingly, she still doesn't really over power Neil. Excellent stuff from these two.

---

I'm going to leave the Puja scene for Reemz - whether she wants to do it today or tomorrow, because I have a hunch she will like doing that scene very much. ☺️

And Nur will do the Caps of course.

Jump right into the discussion!

Gulaal is almost amused at him

And she goes on about how happy Rohan is to see him back

Sirf Rohan?

Ofcourse not...Gulaal has to list out the rest of the family in sequence...MB, PB, Reva, Devika, Talli, the cows...:P

Ghoonghat defense mode makes an appearance too

Gulaal slipped so easily in to that protective and patronizing role. Primarily because she was still trying to hold on to that Kesar who would allow her to do all this and despite what happened on their first meeting, she did still believe he will be the same as before.

When Gulaal was going on about how everyone missed Kesar, I really thought she was just trying to express her own pain by taking the name of others because even Talli knew that Gulaal had missed him the most. So when Kesar asks 'Aur tu?', you automatically see those eyes glisten as if asking 'What do you think??...I've only been waiting for you every single day since the last 10 years'. I absolutely LOVED the part when she turned around hiding her tears because there was a coyness almost coming from her unintentionally. As if a husband asked his wife 'Did you miss me?'. It was really touching!

Kesar is trying to understand this Gulaal. Is she the same as he once knew her? Is this all a farce?? What is it?? So he carefully monitors her expressions and of course that caressing touch which only made him more curious.

I thought Gulaal bringing Vasant up gave Kesar mixed feelings. One reason is very obvious but the other which I think was quite subtle is the resentment of only being remembered as the responsibility Vasant had handed over to Gulaal.

She tried so hard to match Kesar and Talli up but since day 1 they were mismatched! Instead of wearing the purple kurta, he came down wearing a red one which incidentally matched Gulaal's lengha. The signs were always there!! :))))

Batch 2:

"Aur tu"

"Tune mujhe yaad kiya?"

I loved how Manasi did this transition...Gulaal is so taken aback and hurt that he even asked her this

And she transitions to that "dhatt" to make it a bit flippant but you can see her hurt shining in her eyes

I find this bit fascinating for how closely Kesar is watching every expression on her face as she doesn't look at him for a bit and turns away but still you can sense how closely he's listening to every cadence in her tone almost as if he can SEE the tears even as she tries to hide them...

And she just HAS to sulk in some form...lol...again telling him that he never bothered to reply to her letters

There is an irony in both their smiles I feel...a lot of pain as well but as always Gulaal internalizes it, pushes it aside and puts on the happy face...Kesar must think too...if only you knew Gulaal that all I've done in these ten years is write letters to you

I thought she was adorable in this bit

And interesting how they showed him glance down at her lingering hand

And then she mentions Vasant and all the anger/hurt comes rushing back...not that it ever really had disappeared in this scene...but it gets sharper

The purple kurta that was meant to have a very short lifespan...lol

And Kesar has to burn it...symbolizing the fire raging inside him as well

This episode is quite intresting for me. It was the begining of a bitter journey for kesar-gulaal tilll the end i guess. But i loved how kesar's expression was asking questions without him even expressing those questions in real. The silent thundar was inside him and it was funny how gulaal was asking him to do whatever she wished for, the haq was there for her, thats how she felt. And kesar's expression like ''ya right'' lol! And yes at the end of the episode it did show how he just ignored her wishes which was randomly crushed away. I am so happy jzee that you are doing the posts. It actually a pain reliver for gulaal fans! And specially gulsar fans!😳@ nur: The caps and the discriptions attached to it says more than just watching it and analysing it. Some of them was never thought by me before. Excellent!

My favourite cap 😳 So agree about the irony in their smiles!!

Lovely post ..and lovely caps !

It is a classic case of the kid trying to be a grown-up and the grown-up trying to hide his feelings!

And Gulaal trying her best to stay in her own world - which was soon to be disturbed big time !

Reemz - word to that. She really almost makes herself believe that she can pick up the threads from where they were left hanging a decade ago - gullu maiya, aap mahan ho 😆

I personally thought his aur tu here was more than a touch sardonic. Gulaal on the other hand was like you say, all need you ask mode. And she sulks! Oh she just has to - Kesar is really the only person in her life she sulks with! And when you compare that with the original Gulaal Vasant met, who could sulk right left center and throw her weight around and what not - as Srushti said, she loved herself tons! 😆 The entire I-me-myself assurance she held about herself so strongly has been replaced by this nature where she puts herself last, every where, for everything. And amazingly, Kesar - who is so set out at this point to serve her ace after ace of pain, can innately not deal with Gulaal being last. The 'special' treatment is always reserved for Gulaal - good and bad.

Kesar is trying to understand this Gulaal. Is she the same as he once knew her? Is this all a farce?? What is it?? So he carefully monitors her expressions and of course that caressing touch which only made him more curious.

^^ Exactly! Although his issue sparks from the Duggud FB always, its not as if Gulaal makes anything better by sounding Kesar synonymous with a 'jimedaari' - duh woman! Wouldn't you see that fire in his eyes?! And still she plays her last shot at luck and tells him to wear the purple kurta because she is telling him to! Oh right! 😆 Like yesterday, she can sense the undercurrents. But I think its impossible for Gulaal to imagine just at this beginning of second innings, of how far and much Kesar will defy and hurt her! Like you said Reemz, she tries to re-assume her role from ten years ago, like the decade between did not exist! Ostrich-ism is one classic shade of Vintage Galool after all!

She tried so hard to match Kesar and Talli up but since day 1 they were mismatched! Instead of wearing the purple kurta, he came down wearing a red one which incidentally matched Gulaal's lengha. The signs were always there!! :))))

It was the search for the familiar naa...just like we discussed yesterday...Gulaal in a sense was frozen in time...not surprising seeing as how she kind of put her life in stagnant mode first post Vasant's death and then with Kesar leaving...her world sort of stopped there only and despite the fact that ten years had passed, she was still living in that past in a sense...old habits die hard...and it took Gulaal the longest time to figure out that she cannot keep on patronizing him in the same way...many ppl tell her...JK etc...but Gulaal can't help but keep on searching for THAT Kesar that she knew 10 years ago...till this point that was the only Kesar she had known...it's human I'd say...searching for the comfort of the familiar...especially given the connection GK had...but ofcourse this Kesar had changed, he'd grown up...and that becomes clearer to Gulaal bit by bit in the pooja scene as well as the subsequent scenes in the next epis...

When Gulaal was going on about how everyone missed Kesar, I really thought she was just trying to express her own pain by taking the name of others because even Talli knew that Gulaal had missed him the most. I don't know if she was trying to express her pain or actually trying to MASK her pain...by avoiding any mention of it...and just going on and on in her happy face mode and gushing about anyone she could list EXCEPT herself...and ofcourse all Kesar is waiting to hear is what SHE felt, what SHE thought...as Jzee explained so wonderfully in the post above...doesn't matter if she told him all this just minutes ago...Kesar always only craves to hear this...maybe also so cuz she will do anything BUT express herself...and he can't help BUT pull those emotions those feelings out of her no matter how much she may want to brush them aside sometimes.

I thought Gulaal bringing Vasant up gave Kesar mixed feelings. One reason is very obvious but the other which I think was quite subtle is the resentment of only being remembered as the responsibility Vasant had handed over to Gulaal. You're right...it was twofold...the first reaction ofcourse being the sharp pain of being reminded of her betrayal regarding Vasant's murder again and then secondly the way she phrases that 'Vasant gave me your responsibility line...it grates on him to be constantly spoken to like a child in that patronizing tone.

She tried so hard to match Kesar and Talli up but since day 1 they were mismatched! Instead of wearing the purple kurta, he came down wearing a red one which incidentally matched Gulaal's lengha. The signs were always there!! :)))) LOL I have more to say about Talli's giggly airheaded stupidity in this entire bit but I'll save that for your post tomorrow...Gulaal tried oh so hard to match K and T up like they were her two fav. dolls😆...but oh did it backfire on her big time...MANY times...and still she didn't learn her lesson till a longgg time...this has to be Gulaal's greatest obsession after Vasant ka sapna, haina?? Only two priorities in life...1) Vasant ka sapna and 2) KT ki shaadi...this is all she obsessed over day and night *shakes head*😆...but Kesar showed her quickly enough that he won't dance to her tunes😆
