Chapter 33
**The Mansa devi temple visit was great. Your description and the pictures add beauty to the whole process of reading this story.
**As for the story, I like the tension she feels at night and her oblivion to facts during the day though she has been contemplating over lot of issues off late.
**Gulaal closed her eyes as an unconscious tear rolled down her eyes.Loved this line.
**Strange but she relived all those rituals which she performed mechanically at that time and felt alive now as if she was trying to understand the significance of each and every ritual now. She has been given a second chance to understand the significance of what "being married" is all about and for her to realize her responsibility towards fulfilling her duties
**Good Kesar has given up smoking
A strange incident happened when we had visited one of the pilgrim centres in South India. I was carrying a bottle of Bisleri water, my cousin a bottle of Sprite and my mom had the Puja ka Thaal. There were lots of monkeys walking alongside and amidst of all devotees. One monkey approached us in proper order: first my mother, then my cousin and then me. The monkey saw what they were holding, rejected them and happily came closer to me almost authoritatively claiming the water in my hand. The monkey could know the difference between Sprite and water. I felt bad for the monkey and happily handed the bottle over to it. At that moment it did worry me that the poor thirsty monkey can't open the bottle of water. To my utter shock and surprise it opened the bottle of water, just like how we all do, but it bit at the bottle cap once, then with its left hand screwed open the cap perfectly. It literally poured out the water on the floor and drank from it. My mom was totally surprised that I was not scared when the monkey approached me. I told her that it behaved perfectly human and put me at ease that I was not for a moment scared .
Chapter 34
The ambience of the Haridwar temple is serene. I need to really know if you are spying on me because I have long been planning that I should visit Haridwar. I did have a chance when I used to stay at delhi, but it never materialized. All I could manage was a visit to Mathura Krishna temple.
I have had enough glimpses of Ganga Ki Arati on television and it has always attracted me, especially the offering of lighted earthen lamps in river Ganga. The markets adjoining any pilgrim centre is a must visit.
I love all such chaat food items, especially when it is served on leaflets, a natural source for resorting to use and throw. So obviously I am happy reading about the mouthwatering roasted sweetpotato/imli chutney. I can imagine Gulaal's plight.
**What a stupid Girl'She had the exquisite solemnity and at the same time she could resort to her bubbly self .She had the spirit and charm that could have easily enabled her to steal the hearts of even the barbarious hearts..He was only human..How could he not love her" Loved these lines
SFs aakhri iccha has troubled Gulaal. It is too much to even expect her to settle down with her new husband, given the past relationship they shared. Sometimes such elders rather than helping ease tension between couples end up creating more barriers, though unintentional and out of ignorance regarding the actual arrangement. Anyways.
"Thik hai Gulaal..agar tumhe mera saath itna pareshaan karta hai..to aaj k bad main kabhi nahi pareshaan karunga tumhe" In anger, sometimes we all say things which we would never ever really mean to say or act or that we can never really keep up. This is the best example.
"Hmmm ..offo Gulaal karwatein badalna band karo..tumhari choodiyon aur payal ki awaz meri neend kharab kar rahi hai."When I was young, my mom used to force me to wear this and I myself could never sleep because the noise was irritating. Simple solution that I came up with was to put a rubber band to those bells to have a good night's sleep.
What if he was only playing with her heart like Vasant.Gulaal's plight is understandable but I think if not his love, at least she should realize his genuine care for her.
Chapter 35
The first golden rays of the sun touched the two incomplete souls lost in each others arms as the birds chirped. I love the description of them being incomplete souls
Madam Gulaal gets all shy when she realizes how close she was with Kesar. Great that Kesar knows that she does feel shy with him at instances. And he has also mentioned that to her. What more does she want to get her to realize that he is attracted to her. Now how many "just friends" share a bed and sleep in each other's arms. Strange couple indeed.
Was surprised that Dushyant who stayed away from her all these years knowing she was just engaged suddenly behaved like this when she is married, however estranged her relationship with Kesar might be.
Moral of the story: Do not share your bedroom secrets with any outsider. She believed him. Still it is a lesson for her. But Dushyant says she was not happy with Kesar. But he very well saw how she had defended Kesar in front of his own family and how proud she was about her Kesar.
True that while in distress we reach out to the person closest to us.
By the way, Piu, you are on Page 147. Do we have the confession in the new thread you will open after 150 pages or what??
