Do you remember her expression when Talli stated that the next year only one person will be keeping the Vat savitri vrat for Kesu...and she did not look all that pleased when Talli showed up in her room shamelessly wearing that chunnar!

That jealousy was there when Kesar shared his plate with Talli too. Then of course the chunar incident which hinted at possessiveness from Gulaal. These hints are something Gulaal would never have thought twice about because in her mind there was never any reason to feel these emotions towards another man. Those walls were up but even then these cravings of exclusiveness creeped in from Gulaal's side too.

Jzee I'll be on and off! Hope you're feeling better btw!

Totally - it would have been the other side of imagining a love triangle... where Talli becomes a sort of Vasant, for Kesar instead of Gulaal... Because Talli is not a bad person, and could have genuinely grown to love Kesar - even if the inception of her feeling is through a prompt. But Kesar would have never discovered his layers - and Gulaal would have been stuck in that same righteousness battle of never relenting to admit, much less sanction her feelings for Kesar - but nothing would have changed the fact that they did exist, for bot Gulaal and Kesar! When Gulaal did the DV - Kesar was a special person in her life - not the man she loved, yes, but his presence was special in an irreplaceable way. When he grew up, the dynamics complicated because he was now a man - and even though they both went round in silly circles, Kesar with his self imposed distance and hate, and Gulaal with her principles and whatnot... the moments between them are so thick with tension! As a rule! And it is independent of 'physical proximity' even if that adds to the cinematography depending on occasion - it is the character clash and overlap and the soul mate factor!

@angel68 The Time Machine (2002) is one of my favorite films. Never got around to reading the book, but I loved the film.

Speaking of Gulaal Kesar if Vasant had not died, it would be an interesting idea to see. I think it could be beautifully handled and portrayed. But unfortunately it wouldn't make the cut as a serial. A celebrated novel or a film (Nastanirh by Tagore, Satyajit Ray's Charulata). But not in television.

And speaking of. Maybe it's just me. And perhaps I am wrong because I viewed all of these things with my Americanized mind. But I've always felt many songs and tales about Devar/Bhabhi were kind of flirtatious. Obviously nothing going above or beyond that. But there is that underlying concept, I've always felt.

Reemz: On a totally different subject, been meaning to ask you, what happens to the Gulaal forum once the show has ended? Will it get locked? I was wondering because IF is quite popular amongst the actors and the CV's and I was thinking that after the show has ended, I am sure the CV's and especially Manasi will get more time to pop in and see all these posts. I would imagine Manasi would be interested in this forum to see the feedback plus she is a writer as well...

As far as I know, the forum will remain open till it's got a decent amount of activity :)

I wish Manasi and Neil do pop in! Might make us feel better during that period :(

^Don't know about Neil but I think Manasi definitely will. She has linked her blog to the forum as well and I am sure she is aware of it...will be really nice if we get to hear from her and the other cast on this forum. Phew, glad to know it won't be closed and deleted. I am so attached to this forum now...I am sure we'll need to sound each other out after the show has ended to ease the withdrawal angony!! 😆

I haven't read carefully through all the discussion cuz the weekend's been a bit busy for me...but since you've raised so many 'AU' questions so to speak, Jzee...

If Vasant had not died and Kesar had literally grown up in front of Gulaal's eyes...would that not have changed everything?

So I believe the point that someone made in b/w about circumstances leading to all of this is very valid...circumstances shape a LOT in life. If Vasant had not died, is it possible to believe that the G and K dynamic would have evolved in the same way? I'm not so sure.

I admire this show for the way each plot point has led to the shaping of the story overall...they've BROUGHT the story to a point where the G and K relationship has attained this level...they've woven the circumstances as such that each led to a twist and turn to bring G and K closer, to evolve their relationship further.

If Vasant was alive, it is possible that G and K would have spent the rest of their lives as best friends utterly devoted to Vasant who was in essence a 'God' to both of them.

Anywhoo...that's just my (albeit kinda delayed) two cents on this musing initiative of yours, Jzee...man oh man does your brain work on HYPER speed mode *shakes head in a daze*...lol...

And just on a slightly different tangent:

Here is a show where the wardrobe of the lead two characters may be PAINFULLY repetitive in general but I've even learnt to look past that cuz the quality of the STORYLINE remains intact...K and G may wear the same clothes a zillion times over but each new scene we get to see makes me look BEYOND the clothes...BEYOND the appearances to the uniqueness of each scene.

What is the point really of a jazzy, vast wardrobe if the show itself is totally hollow? So yes, while I wouldn't mind more variety to their wardrobes, if I have to forego that in order to watch the QUALITY we get writing and execution wise othewise, then that's fine. But I will say...sometimes I wonder if it's just that Neil and Manasi don't seem to mind their clothes being repeated SO often and close to each other cuz other random sideys like PB and JK have a brand spankin new outfit like everyday...lol

🤣 I'm reading I'm reading - but I need to wrap up some mails before Monday hits me... I wish you could tell my Professor as much - I've delayed his reviews by a day, three times already! claiming I had my writer's block ... 😳 Lucky for me he's not a meanie!

But what will we do when the show ends ... 😒 Reemz - don't forums get archived here on IF after shows go off air?!
