Hi, I am Sejal. I wanted to write something for Kes-Gul for so long but didn't get time to pen down my thoughts. Finally today I have decided that I can't wait more. Generally I write independent stories, never have used serial story as base but here I am going to use serial story as my base.
My story starts from the episode where Kesar has confessed his feelings for Gulaal and Gulaal left house. I am not going to write in detail about the scenes which had already happened in serial.
Now this short story will follow my own imagination. I am not sure if serial will turn out this way. Hope you will enjoy this journey where I will try to do justice to each loved character.
Entangled Souls - Kes-Gul
Part 1
Loneliness is the only gift bestowed to Gulaal. The biggest crime of this world is loneliness but there is no punishment design for this crime.
She had been living this lonely life for last 10 years. What was her fault? Was she the cursed child of God? Didn't she deserve better than this? She never carried any bad feelings for anyone. She had always given love and affection to everyone. There was no pity sitting in the sky. There were no feelings left in the heart of God.
She was living this hell of a life for last 10 years but she never complained. She'd accepted this life. She had compromised with the reality of her life. Vasant was everything to her. Her life began on him and ended on him. He existed in her every breath. He existed in her every cry. She never imagined her life without him. After the unfortunate event of Vasant's death, she learned to live with his memory. His memory became life for her; his memory was the only courage she was holding to.
Over these 10 years, Gulaal became a strong woman. His memory had given her enough courage to fulfill his dreams. Kesar was dream of Vasant. Gulaal had adopted all Vasant's dream as hers. Kesar was the focus as well as support when Gulaal had lost Vasant. She never wanted to remember that unfortunate incident but Dushyant's presence always made her remember about that incident.
Gulaal, the woman with substance, who can make her own decisions, who can lead her own life was not in a position to think anything today. She was leaving her in laws house today after Kesar confessed his love for Gulaal. For her, it wasn't her in laws house, it was her house, it was her Vasant's house. In her heart, nobody could take a place of Vasant as he was still holding that place very firmly. She forgot one thing though that Vasant would have wanted to see his Gulaal happy, satisfied in her life. This Gulaal who was standing today at the door of her in laws was someone else. She lost her life 10 years ago. She lost her liveliness 10 years ago. She never thought about her life. Whenever someone else tried to think about her life, she stopped them with her friendly chattering. She learned only one thing in her life which was ' to give love and affection to everyone. She had loved Kesar from beginning; today also she could never hate Kesar. The only difference was her love for Kesar was different than Kesar's love for her.
In this game of giving, she never considered taking anything from anyone. In this game of giving, she ended up making decisions which was the reason behind hurt for many hearts. She showed several dreams to Talli but nevertheless life didn't work the way she planned. Despite her philanthropic purpose, she ended up hurting Talli. She ended up hurting Kesar.
She never wanted to give pain to Kesar. How could she? She never knew what hate was. She never learned this word ever in her life. After Vasant's death, she had shut the door of her heart so tightly that no one could enter. If someone tried to break that door, then that person would only get pain. Kesar was victim of that situation. He was trying hard to knock on the door of her heart, but he didn't get anything from her than suffering.
When she got married to Vasant, she had given everything to Vasant, her body, her soul. Today also everything was preserved for her Vasant only. She had always thought good for everyone but she made one mistake. She forgot that life never worked the way we wanted. Our plans were never enough as God had made different plans for us. Who was she to design destiny of Talli and Kesar? God had never given this right to anyone.
She might not be this firm about her decision not to fall in love again and not to let her touched by anyone if Dushyant's incident wouldn't have happened. She couldn't believe that one brother could think this evil for his sister in law. This society would never let her live alone. Why a girl couldn't live alone? Why this society was so forceful on her? This forcefulness had made her to do diyervattu. She thought that Kesar was her responsibility and she had full right on him in a good way. Vasant had given this responsibility to her and she had accepted this willingly. She assumed that Kesar was a kid and he would never consider diyervattu seriously. Of course she was wrong her. Kesar grew up with this feeling since diyervattu that he was her husband. It became inbuilt in his system like the way food was necessary for everyone.
She had stopped thinking about her dreams. Whenever dreams tried to emerge in her heart, she turned her mind into different direction. Whenever she saw kids playing in the village, she wished to have her own kids but only with Vasant. She could never feel that physical intimacy with someone else.
She left her in laws house with heavy heart. She still couldn't believe that Kesar confessed his love in front of everyone. She lost the last drop of respect at that very moment. She felt so ashamed that she wouldn't be able to look in the eye of Motabha.
First God had snatched away her Vasant from her and when she learned to live without him, God was forcing her to open that door of her heart which was tightly shut. She was not some puppet who could change her heart within a second.
Hence she decided to go against the plans of destiny, and went to her parents' house. She needed some time to think about her life which she was avoiding for last 10 years. She knew that her life was like fish which couldn't survive without water and in her case, water was her Vasant and his family. She was also suffering with the pain of being away from them. She needed to do this. She never gave a chance to her life. Today life had forced her to think about herself. She had to think if not for her then for her Vasant. Vasant never wanted to see Gulaal in pain. Vasant would have never chosen this lonely life for Gulaal. She needed to understand this. Vasant was her past and she should accept this.
How could she change her perception about Kesar which she was holding for last 10 years? She could never love Kesar that way. She couldn't even think about Kesar that way because she still lived in her past. She never came out of her past. Reality never struck her.
Dushyant's actions were affirmation for her that she couldn't share herself with anyone and at that day when Dushyant kidnapped her, she decided that she could never fall in love again. Nobody could touch her again. She was only made for Vasant. She would never get married again.
She was helping her mother in cooking and finally everyone was sitting at the dinner table. The conduct of eating being concluded and no one was uttering a word of sociable conversation as everyone was sad. After finishing this eating business, she approached the window in her room to examine the weather and suddenly she remembered the night with Vasant where she promised him that she would always love Kesar and always support him. With that tears welled up in her eyes and with those blurry eyes, one more incident ran in her mind. She remembered the fateful night when it was raining crazily and Kesar confessed his love for her without any boundary and restrictions. She'd never lived any life without boundaries. She restricted herself, she never allowed herself to watch any dreams. She never allowed herself to laugh like a child. She never allowed herself to enjoy life fully. She lived a life like machine for last 10 years. She forgot what life was.
Suddenly raindrops hit her face. Raindrops worked like a magic on her and she decided to go outside and enjoy the rain which she hadn't done in so long. Enjoying this unrestricted rain was resulted in the sweet reminiscence with Vasant. She enjoyed that happy and vivacious life. She suddenly felt the touch of Vasant and she forgot everything. She started dancing with the joy like the way she used to enjoy with Vasant.
Kesar entered her house at the same time. He came here to talk to Gulaal. He had many unanswered questions; he came here for seeking those answers. As soon as he step in and he saw Gulaal dancing in the rain, water was cascading on her body and her smile had filled the air with happiness. He got completely mesmerized by this sight and he stood still like he forgot to breath.
Gulaal suddenly stopped dancing when her eyes met his eyes. The sudden realization hit her and she started to run away from him. As soon as she tried to run, Kesar pulled her towards him while holding her from her wrist. She was in shock by his behavior. Kesar was behaving a manly way and she wasn't used to with that. She had always assumed right on him but now Kesar wanted his rights on her and she was running away from this entire situation.
Running away from a problem could never result in a solution.
She was wiggling to untangle herself from his hold but of course it was in vain. He was stronger than she thought.
"Kesar, leave me, you are hurting me."Gulaal said while still wiggling to get rid of his hold.
Kesar left her hand and she stood right there, trying to figure out his sudden actions.
"Gulaal, I beg you, please give me a chance to talk with you, you can't run away every time I try to ask you something."Kesar said with desperate eyes. He was desperate to get answers. He was desperate for her one look. He was desperate to call her as his wife.
"Kesar, whatever you want to say, go ahead, I am waiting."Gulaal said while moving her gaze from him and staring at some random direction like she wasn't really interested in his conversation.
