Part 3

That statement was harsh. How can he question her happiness? Her privacy was invaded by his statements. He couldn't jump to his own conclusions about her personal life.

Right there Gulaal slapped him. She was out of control, she couldn't take it anymore. It was enough for her to chew these trashy conversations. She hadn't given right to anyone to talk about her life with Vasant and to make decisions about her life. Even though her life gets worse, but she was ready to bear the consequences.

Kesar left in anger. Kesar was one interesting creature to watch. Sometimes he was the most sensible person on the earth when it comes to understanding his life needs and his rights on Gulaal but he blacked out at the moment when he saw that his sensible talks weren't making any sense to Gulaal. As soon as his sensibility gone out of the way, his devil form peeped out. His anger had consumed him in full and his agony had generated the heart wrenching cry for Gulaal.

He was the best example of conservation of energy - law of physics. "It states that the total amount of energy in a system remains constant over time. A consequence of this law is that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only be transformed from one state to another."

Kesar's love and affection for Gulaal was transformed into madness and anger. He wasn't able to let go of this emotions. It could change form but it couldn't just disappear out of his system.

Kesar was wandering in his own room like a caged tiger. He was caged in the emotions of pain, suffering, love, and anger. He wasn't sure how to come out of all these inexplicable feelings. He couldn't tolerate this Gulaal's proclaimed blame for making her leave this house. Ten years ago, in the same house, he saw the tender love emerging between a new couple ' Gulaal and Vasantbha and their love soon transformed into blossom.

He learned how Vasantbha used to care of Gulaal, how he used to bring gifts for her as she was his wife. How she used to wait for her husband. How they used to have dinner together. Kesar assumed all these responsibilities for Gulaal after the death of Vasantbha.

What did he do wrong when he brought gift (saree) for Gulaal? Why she couldn't accept that gift? He was trying to follow the same footsteps as Vasantbha. If Gulaal could do diyervattu with him and considered him as her husband in front of society then what was the problem in accepting this today.

All the worries and anger had covered him. He wasn't able to think anything logically. Like rationality had left his world a long ago. It was justified when people fall in love, rationality instantly fades away. Otherwise it wasn't love if rationality still exists.

After a lot of tossing and turning, Gulaal felt asleep at her parents' house. When she woke up, she woke up with one question playing in her mind, "What Vasant wants for her? Does he really want her to move on? Or even if he wants, is she in a position to accept it?"

Again only questions??????? No answers dared to enter into her world.

Eventually to get some fresh air and to get some time to think in her own aloofness, she decided to leave momentarily her parents' house and visit temple. Like her mind was in the zone of self fallacy that God would answer her all questions in a split second.

Nonetheless, she went to temple. Was she lucky to find solitude?

Of course not, as again, God was having fun playing with her decisions. She didn't end up landing into the world of solitude because Dushyant was there in the temple too. He looked little startled by finding her in the same temple at the early morning. Well as a matter of fact, it was good for him because Dushyant needed his own thoughts to let out of his system and to add more complications in the world of Gulaal.

There was a moment of disappointment on Gulaal's face when she saw Dushyant but it quickly faded away as at least Kesar wasn't there with him. She wanted to be as far as possible from Kesar. She was totally in the mood of being in Antarctica for a while as nobody could reach out to her there.

She was still wandering in her own thoughts when moment broke through the soft but genuine words of Dhshyant, "Gulaal, probably it is useless to ask how you are doing as we all know what you must be going through. I am not going to tell you what you should do or you shouldn't do because I am sure people have filled your mind with the heavy loads of advice. I just want to request you. I am not talking here on behalf of anyone, I am sharing my independent viewpoint and there is no force to accept my view point. I just want to say one thing Gulaal, please give one chance to your life. Think from the future perspective instead of living in the past."

That said, he left with a light smile on his face. In return, Gulaal also rewarded him with the soft forced smile.

Hope you had fun reading this. I know sometimes my mind works odd way hence you may find certain things totally weird. Anyway, I still look forward to hearing your opinion in any direction.

Part 4

Gulaal spent half an hour at temple before the Sun reached to its horizon with full intensity of heat and more people started coming to the temple. Alas. In this world, there is no place where she could be alone with her soul.

Questions raised by Kesar were wandering in her mind like someone was stabbing her. His each word was piercing her. She loved Vasant as love was a selfless emotion. Today Kesar was talking about moving on but you could move on from the person who didn't exist. Vasant still existed in her every breath. Vasant was always there to support her. She didn't need to move on because Vasant was always there with her. Whenever she was lonely, Vasant had always made her feel his existence. He was still part of her dreams. Her own existence was proof of his existence in her heart. If he wasn't there with her each move, then she might not be alive today. His soul was deeply entangled with her soul. She couldn't move on from her soul.

She was walking back to her parents' house. Her fortune was definitely not in her favor today. In her adversity, Kesar was passing through the same road where she was walking. Kesar saw her. He resisted himself; he didn't want to talk to her. He knew that she needed time to accept this new life. He knew that she needed time to think deeply about her life. He knew that she wouldn't be able to accept him.

Their eyes met for a second and they both diverted their attention to different direction like they never knew each other. Gulaal let go of relief sigh. She was in no condition to talk to Kesar yet. She knew that she would burst out with pain if Kesar would persist more.

She went back to her house and she spent a day with her routine chores. She was avoiding thinking about her own life. Whether Kesar was right or not, but she wasn't moving on. Vasant was her husband, Vasant is her husband and Vasant will always be her husband.

In the evening, she was sitting in her room, staring at Vasant's picture, and her father entered the room with a soft knock on the door. The knock was like a whisper that she didn't realize somebody was entering her room. Her dad entered silently as he didn't want to break her thoughts.

Her dad put his one hand on her shoulder and Gulaal came back to her senses. She quickly wiped her tears away.

Her dad looked at those tears and said, "Life is more than pain and suffering. Life is larger than happiness and sadness. By hiding or wiping tears, pain won't go away. I know that you still love Vasant and you will always. There is nothing wrong about it. If you accept someone else, it doesn't mean that Vasant will no longer be important in your life. He is part of your life and he will always remain. You need to open some space of your heart for someone else to enter in your life. You don't need to accept Kesar if you don't want to. I am not favoring Kesar here though you need a person who will accept you the way you are, with the memory of Vasant. Kesar will always understand Vasant's importance in your life. He loves you beyond everything. He loves you knowing that you are still in love with Vasant. He had always admired you. He had always respected you.

With a pause he added, Gulaal, you can always stay in this house. This is your house. You need to think about more questions. What about your life after my death?"

Gulaal was crying and she instantly said, "Baba, please don't say that. You will always be with me."

"Beta, the fact of life is that I can't be with you always. You have to accept this reality. I can't see you alone. I know you can handle yourself. I trust you. I want to see you happy in your life. You have spent your entire life thinking about other people. Unfortunately today also I am being mean and I am asking you to think about your life for me. I won't be able to go to heaven by seeing you alone in your life. Think about it and I will support you in any of your decisions."

Her father left her room and gave her some time to think.

Kesar was in despair and he tried to keep himself busy with work. Gulaal's image couldn't leave his eyes for a second. She existed in his every thought. How hard he tried, he wasn't able to think properly. He wanted Gulaal with him. He wanted to see her in front of his eyes. He wanted to make sure that she was happy. He wanted to make sure that she was eating properly. He wanted to make sure that her each need was fulfilled. He wanted to make sure that she was living her life fully. It was enough for him.

Gulaal was lost in her thoughts.

After experiencing Duhsaynt's bad deeds in her life, she was never able to see herself with any man than Vasant. She always thought that man came with the same need from her after Dushyant's incident. Hence she underestimated Kesar's feelings. She wasn't able to think that Kesar cared for her beyond everything. KESAR DIDN'T NEED HER BUT KESAR NEEDED HER HAPPINESS.
