Gulaal chooses to use deeyarvatu as a means to stay back in the village and protect Kesarji and the family. She uses this tradition intelligently to her advantage to stay back and fight the adversities. Deeyarvatu is one dramatic turning point in the story of this extraordinary woman, Gulaal. Gulaal's Nayi Soch reflects in her reinterpretation of this tradition to use it to her advantage. It portrays Gulaal as a strong woman who refuses to succumb to adverse situation but takes charge of the situations. In the process we witness the resurrection of a strong woman who gets extolled for her decision to stand by her family, for putting family before all the traditions to fulfill her responsibilities.
