Episode 22: Savi Goes Missing

The flight from Delhi to Mumbai felt longer than usual for Ishaan. The meeting with the board members had not gone as smoothly as he had hoped, leaving him with a weighty burden to resolve upon his return. As the aircraft descended, Ishaan glanced out the window at the sprawling city below. Mumbai, with its bustling streets and towering skyscrapers, never failed to overwhelm him. Today, however, his thoughts were elsewhere, buried under layers of apprehension and stress.

With a heavy heart, he collected his luggage and made his way through the crowded airport, his steps hurried yet weighed down by the burdens of his responsibilities.

Finally, Ishaan stepped into his home, greeted by the familiar warmth of his family. Yashwant Rao’s hearty laugh and Surekha’s comforting embrace momentarily eased the tension gripping his mind.

He reached his room and scanned it thoroughly; his heart sank.

"Savi," he called out, his voice tinged with concern. But there was no reply.

His wife, Savi, was nowhere to be seen.

He came out to the hall and checked with family members.

"Where's Savi?" Ishaan asked, trying to conceal the worry creeping into his voice.

Yashwant Rao exchanged a glance with Surekha, his expression betraying a hint of concern. "She's not here, Ishaan. She left a while ago."

Ishaan's brow furrowed in confusion. "Left? Where did she go? Is everything alright?"

Surekha sighed, her features etched with a mixture of frustration and apprehension. "She didn't say much, just mentioned needing some time alone. Said she'd be back soon."

Ishaan's mind raced with questions, but he pushed them aside, focusing on the immediate concern. "Did she mention where she was going?"

Rao Saheb shook his head. "No, she didn't say. But Ishaan, don't worry too much; focus on your work. She'll be back whenever she has to."

Despite Rao Saheb's attempts to reassure him, a gnawing sense of unease settled in Ishaan's chest. Savi's sudden departure added another layer of worry to his already burdened mind.

He returned to his room and dialed her number. The phone rang without being picked up. He thought of checking with her friends.

One by one, he called Kajal, Navya, Preeti - but all gave him the same reply: she left college, and then there was no communication. At last, he rang up Shuklaji, who informed him that Savi madam was last seen in the college ground with Shantanu Sir.

His mind immediately gave him an answer, so she could be at Baba’s home?

He heard the tingle of the clock, 7 PM.

He called up Shantanu, “Baba…..!”

Shantanu heard his silence, “Beta Ishaan, How was your trip? I think you would have called up to check on Savi? I met her today noon on the campus after the classes were over, and she informed me that you were out for work.”

Ishaan: “Yes, Baba, things aren't moving ahead somehow.”

Shantanu, again understanding his burst behind the words, “What happened, Beta? If it's related to work, I am sure you will solve it, and if it's related to personal matters, I am double sure together you will overcome it.”

Ishaan: “Baba, Savi went outside somewhere after returning from college, and her phone isn't reachable. I thought she must have come to visit you and…”

Shantanu: “Ishaan, I am out at the medical store; your aai isn't well. I don't know the whereabouts of Savi.”

Ishaan gets lost for a minute with no answer from his side. His stress of missing Savi gets double fold on hearing his aai's unwell health!

Episode 21: A Day of ISHVI Away From Each Other

The next day morning, Ishaan heads to the meeting. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation as discussions about the angel funding round for the Bhosle Medical College startup unfolded.

Mr. Apte, a seasoned investor with a keen eye for potential, wasted no time delving into the nitty-gritty details of the startup's financial projections and growth prospects.

"As we've discussed before, the Bhosle Medical College has tremendous potential," Mr. Apte remarked, his tone businesslike yet tinged with excitement. "Your vision for the college aligns perfectly with our investment criteria."

Ishaan nodded, his mind focused despite the underlying ache of missing Savi. "Thank you, Mr. Apte. We've put a lot of effort into developing a robust business plan that outlines our growth trajectory and revenue projections."

The discussion delved deeper into the financials. Each query was met with thoughtful consideration and detailed explanations, showcasing Ishaan's dedication to the success of the venture.

Mr. Apte leaned back in his chair, his demeanor thoughtful yet decisive. "Of course, Ishaan. We're here to support your vision, but we also need to ensure a return on our investment. We can help you raise funds but at the equity of 25% not just 5%. The final call would be taken by my partner, who sits in the USA"

The numbers were shocking to Ishaan. If they dilute this much equity in the Angel round, what control would the Bhosles have in the future, and who is this anonymous partner of Mr. Apte? He asks, “May I know the details of your partner? I mean, their funding in other projects, their backgrounds, and other details.” Mr. Apte responds, “Yes, sure, Mr. Ishaan Bhosle. He is Mr. Marathe.” The name sends a shockwave through him, coursing through his body with an electric current.

_______________________________________

Back in Pune, Savi was engaged with her routine of college, library, extra reading hours, and coming back home just for formality. She was avoiding interactions with the Bhosles as far as possible since she knew her presence was unwelcomed by many.

Once she got free from early classes, instead of heading home, she went to the CITY hospital to check on Harini Tai. She sits near him and vents out her feelings, “Tai, I am all alone without you. Ishaan sir is also away for 2 days; he might come back tomorrow. I never knew the world would feel so lonely without him. He is just a Sir, and I am there for a few days or a few months only, but there is some string that keeps me hooked. Tai, please get well soon. I want to breathe openly. I don't know what this feeling is, but it's strange. Please wake up and guide me. You will be happy to know that I have topped my last semester's exams and now preparing for the final ones." She pauses, startled by her words. "The day is not far; I would be IAS Savi Ishaan Bhosle." She again pauses, what did I just say? Savi Bhosle? And sees her MS swaying in her neck.

Caught between thoughts and unknown feelings, she reaches home. However, she gets late since she comes home after meeting Harini Tai. The servant opens the door and informs her that everyone has retired to their room.

She walks off to her room and on the way overhears Shikha talking to someone in her room. She stops by the door and hears her almost crying, “Chinmay, how can you never call me up? What wrong have I done to you? Whenever I say anything about us, you have only one answer, I am busy. I am here with family, but always all alone. Chinmay….Chinmay…," and she realizes that the phone call was disconnected from the other end.

Savi feels shocked and sad for her. She thinks for a moment to step inside but then feels it's better to let her vent out her feelings; it could be overwhelming otherwise.

Episode 23: Ishaan Finds Savi

Ishaan feels sad for his mother, “Baba…,” he pauses for a minute but could not gather the courage to ask him. He continues, “take care, baba,” and cuts the call! He gets restless, with sweat all over his face and neck, and goes to the washroom, washing his face with cold water. When he turns around, he sees Savi’s kurti hanging on the hanger. He misses her! He thinks of lodging a police complaint. As soon as he takes out his wallet and car keys, he gets hiccups. They get faster, so he takes out water from the jug.

(A small Flashback in the college corridor)

Savi gets hiccups and Ishaan teases her, “Someone close to you must be remembering you. Think of him/her, and it will go away.” Savi’s hiccups continue, and then he says, “If you can't recall that person, think of an incident which shocks/surprises you.”

Savi gets angry, "Sir, I don't believe in all this."

Then Ishaan comes closer, holds her shoulders, and gives an intense look into her eyes. She gets taken aback, and her hiccups stop.

(Flashback ends)

Ishaan receives a check! She must have gone to visit her Isha Mam, and Baba might not be aware of it. He thinks of calling her but then doesn't. Instead, he plans to go there and check. (A kid inside him craves to see his mother). Ishaan’s car reaches ISHANU’s home.

Parallel track (Savi met Shantanu Sir on the campus and had casual talks where she informs him about Ishaan's business trip, and Shantanu informs her about Isha’s health. Then, they depart. After reaching home on time and completing her routine work, she decides to go meet Isha Mam. She doesn't want to create any drama, so she hides it from Surekha and just says that it's personal work and she will be back by night). Savi reaches ISHANU's home and finds her Mam all alone as Shantanu was out for work. She goes and hugs her, puts her hand on her forehead, and exclaims, “Oh Mam, you need rest, you seem to have a high fever.”

Isha smiles, “Nothing Savi, now I am better seeing you. You have always been a daughter-like figure in my life. Proudly today I can see a daughter-in-law in you.”

Savi looks down and realizes that her Mam is officially her mother-in-law, so what she and Ishaan don't share is an intimate husband-wife relationship! Isha notices her hesitation and pats her shoulder, “Bala, I don't want to get into the nitty-gritty of how you are coping with it, but my mother’s heart is at peace and satisfaction, which indicates all will fall into place, and there will be an abundance of happiness and love in your lives. It's my gut feeling.”

Savi smiles at her with tears in her eyes and murmurs, “Mam.”

Isha puts her finger on Savi's lips, “No, Savi Bala, please call me Aai. I have been yearning to hear this for 22 years of my life.”

Savi tearfully and cheerfully calls, “Okay, Aai.”

Both laugh.

Isha asks, “Savi, you should go home now. Ishu must be worried about you.”

Savi replies, “No, Mam. Sir is out, and I'm not sure when he will return. I cannot even call him because my phone battery died in the evening, and I forgot to charge it. First of all, I want to cook something for you, so you and Sir, ah sorry, Baba, can have a home-cooked, well-cooked dinner.”

Isha sits on the chair and signals for her to sit beside her, “Shantanu is a very good cook. He has already prepared Zunka Bhakhri and Vange ki Sabji. I suggest you also have food with us. Let me make a sheera. It's your first visit after becoming Mrs. Savi Ishaan Bhosle.”

She exclaims, “Savi, I have so many dreams and wishes for both of you, and I want to do so much for both of you, but our dynamics are not usual. Please allow me to serve you at least with a meal?”

A knock happens at the door. Both turn and see Ishaan standing there, probably having heard their conversation!

Episode 24: ISHVI Dinner Date at ISHANU Home

Ishaan was standing at the door, probably heard the conversation of his wife Savi and mom Isha. He looked at both of them and those two looked at each other and then gazed at him. Isha’s eyes were filled with motherly love and Savi looked with a surprise at him how did he land up here.

For a moment, an unspoken question lingered in the air between them, bridging the space with its silent weight.

With a tentative step forward, Ishaan entered the room, feeling the weight of their collective gaze upon him.

Isha murmurs, “Ishu…”

Savi asks, “Sir, I came here to see mam, Aai..I was about to leave.”

Ishaan falls short of words and looks here and there. Savi asks, “Sir, Baba is not here, he should reach soon.”

Hearing Savi use "Aai" and "Baba" filled him with a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that their marital bond was growing stronger by the day.

Isha asks Savi, “Bala can you bring a water for me?” Savi understands that her mother in law wants her to offer a glass of water to her son Ishu.

Savi goes into kitchen and bring two glasses of chilled water, and serves both Isha and Ishaan.

She notices, both of them have the exact style of holding a glass and sipping water. She smiles inside her.

Shantanu arrives and his face lights up at the sight of Ishaan. He approaches and envelops Ishaan in a warm hug, which Ishaan reciprocates, though his attention remains fixed on his mother, who gazes at her son with affection, seeing him now as a mature and newlywed individual.

Isha gestures for Savi and Ishaan to take a seat then leads Shantanu inside. In private, Isha shares her desire to have Ishvi join them for dinner. Shantanu offers his encouragement, saying, "You're strong and bold. Go ahead and handle it your way."

Once the sheera was ready, Isha set the table with care, placing each plate and utensil in its designated spot. As she finished, she called out to Savi with a gentle urgency, "Bala, food's ready. Come and eat quickly, or you both will be late."

Savi glanced at Ishaan, a hint of hesitation in her eyes before she spoke. "Sir, please join us. I know you may not have planned on having dinner here, but it would be a shame to let the food go to waste, wouldn't it?

Ishaan did not say anything but very well understood that its a joint effort of Isha and Savi to make him eat here.

He slightly nods in acceptance.

As all four of them settled around the dining table, Isha's heart swelled with joy. After twenty-two long years, she finally had the opportunity to serve a meal to her beloved son, Ishaan. The simple act filled her with an indescribable sense of contentment.

The aroma of sheera made Ishaan yearn for it, it was equally an urge for him to eat mom-made food after 22 long years.

Isha forgets about her fever and appears energetic, with all her heart and mind, she serves dishes. He puts one extra spoon of sabji in Ishaan;’s plate as it was his favorite.

The aroma of sheera stirred a longing within Ishaan, a yearning for his mother's cooking after 22 long years apart.

Despite her fever, Isha seemed revitalized, her energy unwavering as she served the dishes with heartfelt enthusiasm. She added an extra spoonful of sabji to Ishaan's plate, knowing it was his favorite.

As Ishvi and Shantanu began eating, conversation was initially sparse until Shantanu broke the silence. "Savi, how are your exam preparations going? I often see you and Shaswat studying in the library. Make sure you have enough study materials and practice. And remember, your Maam is still available to help if needed," he said with a chuckle.

Ishaan couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy toward his own mother and student, Shaswat. He interjected, "There's no need, Baba. I have a fully stocked library in our room," stumbling over the possessive pronoun before blushing.

ISHVI feels shy that he said “our” room.

Isha and Shantanu smile at each other looking Ishvi’s awkwardness. They plan to continue teasing them further.

Isha chimed in, "Savi, it's your final year. Don't take any chances. Why don't you stay here until your exams are over?"

Ishaan's reaction was immediate, choking on a mouthful of sheera and hurriedly reaching for his glass of water.

Savi replied, "That's a great idea, Maam, Aai! But for now, we need to head home. I'll check my study materials and let you know."

As the dinner date came to an end, Ishaan couldn't help but express his gratitude, "The food was amazing. I can't move another step after having two bowls of sheera." Everyone chuckled at his body language and belching.

Isha approached to clear the plates near Ishaan's chair, and at that moment, his handkerchief slipped from his hand and landed near Isha's feet. He bent down to retrieve it, willingly touching her feet to seek her blessings. Isha, overcome with happiness, couldn't hold back tears as she placed her palm on his head.

Both acted as if it was unintentional as if nothing significant had occurred. Yet, deep down, both were filled with happiness for each other.
