Sai burst into a hysterical laughter surprising everyone. Virat frowned.
« For this woman you gave up on us ? This woman made you so weak that you were scared of her fake suicidal threats and gave my child to her. For an IPS officer, you are quite a coward. », Sai mocked him.
The police entered the house and arrested Pakhi. She pleaded with Virat for his support but he kept quiet.
« This time you won't bail her out or else I will make sure you get suspended for permanently. », Dev warned Virat standing next to Sai. « Now she isn't alone anymore. Her friend is with her for support. », he added intertwining his arm with hers.
Sai and Dev went home. She closed herself in her room and burst into tears. Her entire life was a lie. First her father abruptly died during her teenage years when she believed they would grow old together. Then the man she loved passionately wiped her out of his life like a vulgar dust. And now the son she craved for years wasn't even hers.
While the entire Chavan family was downstairs, confused, shocked, tensed and angry, Virat went upstairs and closed himself in his room. His entire life was spent serving his family and pleasing them. He kept brushing all the wrongdoings of his family under the carpet. He lost the love of his life. He lost every first moments of his daughter, the daughter he always wanted to have. And now the son he raised as his own wasnât even his. His family and his first crush ruined his life but he couldnât even blame them because he did the mistake to prioritize them over his wife.
The next day, Virat was about to go outside when Kaku stopped him.
« What are your plans for Patralekha ? She still carries our name. », Bhavani said.
« She can die. She can go to hell. I donât care. I donât want to talk about her. », he replied.
« Ok but any information about Samrat being Vinayakâs real father ? », she asked.
« Thatâs where I am going. I am going to meet one of his friends and see if she has the answer. », he replied.
He didnât get any answer but Samratâs friend was ready to help him. Back home he went to his sonâs room. The little boy wasnât affected by Pakhiâs absence. Sai with a couple of meetings had created an important place in Vinayakâs heart while Pakhi who raised him for six years couldnât make any impact in his life.
« Baba I hate you for keeping Sai Maa away from me. », Vinayak said.
Virat broke down. Everyone hated him. His wife, his son and probably his daughter will too one day.
Sai exposed the entire Chavan family in the court with proof, « As a mother I want to protect my daughter. I donât want her to be near the Chavans. That house is filled with criminals and my ex husband as an IPS officer didnât take any action. They paid goons to kidnap their own son in-law, drugged their own daughter for years so that she doesnât marry the man she loved. They didnât take any action against their daughter-in-law who forcibly wanted to become the surrogate mother of my child by kidnapping the actual surrogate mother. Instead of taking action against her wrongdoings, they gave my child to her while she was a threat to him. She used to blackmail the entire family every other day about taking her own life. She could have hurt my child in a rage of anger or even kill him. My ex-husband didnât support me when we were still married but the woman who ruined our lives. He was even suspended for brushing his familyâs deeds under the carpet. After that he threw me out of his life like an used tissue paper. My daughter wonât be safe in that house nor with a father who sides with the criminals. »
The court announced the verdict in favor of Sai. Not only did she get the full custody of her daughter but also appointed her as Vinayakâs temporal legal guardian till the Chavans were proved guilty.
Outside the court, Dev came with Saavi to pick up his friend. He gave her a tight hug before she could even explain everything to him. Saavi who spotted Virat walked towards him.
« Saavi ? », Virat was surprised to see her.
« Why did you become the bad cop, Mr. Chavan ? », Saavi asked sad.
« I⊠IâŠ. », he didnât know how to start.
« I hate you for becoming the bad cop. », she interrupted him.
He could read the hatred on her face. In that exact moment he knew he lost everything. His child, his only blood, hated him. Before he could say anything in his defense, she had ran away.
Once home, Saavi silently went to her room. Her « Mister Cop » turned into a « Bad Cop » was somehow affecting her but she didn't want to show it to her mother nor to her best friend Dev. Once alone, Sai asked Dev about Patralekha and his relationship. Why did it sound like he hated her ? He explained how she was the reason his fiance broke off their wedding. His aunt, Patralekha's mother was the reason that the family fell apart. Before that they were one big family and Patralekha was even his good friend.
After her conversation with Dev, Sai went to see her daughter. She needed to tell her about Vinayak but she found a sad Saavi on the bed watching the ceiling. She knew the reason of her sadness and hoped the news of having an older brother would lighten up her mood. As soon as she told her that she had a brother, the little girl jumped off the bed overwhelmed by the news.
« But how ? How did this happen ? Could this even be possible ? Where was he all this time ? », she bombarded Sai with questions.
« I will tell you everything later. For now you just have to know that you have an older brother who will stay with us. », Sai replied.
Thankfully Saavi showed some patience and didn't question her further. She didn't want Saavi to know more about Virat. She was already upset with him, she didn't want her to hate her own father for the rest of her life.
Later in the evening, Sai showed up in Chavan Niwas. Everyone looked angrily at her.
« You ruined the Chavans' reputation. I should kill you for breaking our entire family apart. », Omi walked menacingly towards her.
« Stop it Omi kaka. How shameless are you ? When will you stop acting like a goon ? If today the family is going through all this it's only because of you all. », Virat said angrily.
« How can you be ok with Vinayak leaving this house ? », Bhavani asked.
« Because now he knows vinayak is not his son but Samrat's. », Sonali answered.
« Vinayak is my son. I raised him. How can you accuse me of something like that ? », Virat questioned.
« Yeah yeah we saw your love. », Sonali replied.
« If you are done with this drama, can I go upstairs to Vinayak's room? », Sai asked.
Virat nodded a yes. Sai walked up to the room and as soon as Vinayak saw her he came running to his « Sai maa » for a hug. She made him sit on the bed and started to explain what changes would occur in his life from now on. She didn't say a thing about Virat and her not being his real parents. It was too soon to tell him that the parents he believed were his are just his kaka and kaku. She helped him pack his bag and then both came down. She gave some time to the family for the goodbyes. She noticed that Virat was missing. She looked for him and found in his room, once their room. She sat next to him and put her hand on his.
« I know what you are going through. », she broke the silence. « Losing your child is the worst thing in this world. You made me lose mine. Today you lost two children. It must be worse. », she added.
« I am sorry for everything. », he finally apologized.
« I don't want your sorry. I don't need it anymore. », she replied. « I am sorry that you are going through the same phase. », she added.
Virat turned towards her, jumped into her arms and burst into tears.
« You still have a chance to stay in your children's lives if you are ready to do the things right again. », she patted on his back. « I would never want my children to be away from their father. », she broke the embrace.
She got up and walked towards the door then stopped and turned around.
« I don't understand one thing. I never did actually. I know you never loved Patralekha then why did you always side with her? », she asked without expecting any answer.
« The four of us stayed ghum in each other's love. Pakhi in me, me in you, you in me and Samrat in Pakhi. Before dying Samrat asked me as his last wish to take care of Pakhi. I couldn't let her take her own life. », he answered.
« Unchain yourself from fulfilling ALL your promises. It's ok to break the promises sometimes when the other person is not willing to be cooperative. Free yourself from always wanting to be the hero. Stop taking responsibilities. Let go of the negative people. », she suggested.
Sai came down followed by him. He hugged his son before letting the two walk away.
In the cab, Sai looked out the window holding her son by the shoulder. Today she felt free. Vinayak was maybe not her son but she was ready to give all the love as her own son. She was sure of giving him a better education than the Chavans. Forgiving her ex husband and moving on was like a new breathe in her life.
« Someone is eagerly waiting for you. », she said.
« Who ? », Vinayak asked.
« Someone very special to both of us. », she replied.
The door opened wide on Sai and Vinayak. Saavi and Dev showered them with confetti. The house was decorated with balloons and the table was set with delicious food and cake. Vinayak greeted Dev, remembering he was treated by him a few months ago. He looked surprised at Saavi.
« Vinayak, meet your little sister, Saavi. », Sai introduced Saavi to him. « Saavi, this is Vinayak, your older brother. », she said to Saavi.
Vinayak's reaction was different than Saavi's. His face suggested that he was happy to have a sister but stayed calm and composed. Saavi grabbed his hand and dragged him upstairs to show his room.
Virat came down to welcome Samrat's friend. She was accompanied by a lady who explained to the Chavans that Samrat was going through a decreasing fertility which was the reason why he went through the sperm freezing procedure. He wanted to be a father but his wife refused to have any physical relationship with him and he was running out of time.
« Thank God Pakhi is not the biological mother and that Sai is taking care of Samrat's son. », Virat said out loud.
In the next days, Virat took action against Omi and Bhavani for their crimes. He also left the Chavan Niwas and shifted to the city where Sai was living and rented a house opposite hers. Even if she didn't accept him back in her life, she found the old Virat back, the one from Gadchiroli, true to his duty no matter who was in front of him. Back to righteousness, she let him back in Vinayak and Saavi's life. Virat was alive again. He was away from the negativity. His kids loved him again. Only Sai was missing but he hoped and prayed that one day she would return too.
Dev was still in Sai and Saavi's lifes. It wasn't difficult for him to balance between his work, the girls, Vinayak and his new life partner.
