Virat : Sai, waqt dikhta nahi hai lekin bahot kuch dikha jata hai. Aaj iss baat ka ehsaas bhi ho gaya. Shaayad tumhe andaaza bhi nahi hai mujhe kitna bura lag raha hai.

Sai : Aapko bura lag raha hai?

Virat : Tum mujhse puch rahi ho tum meri kaun ho. Tum hi batao mujhe kaisa lagega.

Cut to.....

Virat : Tumhara naam baraabar likha hai. Mera naam aisa kyun likha hai. Mera naam Virat hai, V-Rat nahi hai. Virat Chavan rat hai?

Sai : Aap rat nahi, aap toh lion hai.

Virat : Agar main lion hoon, toh tum kaun ho?

Sai : Agar aap lion hai, toh main lioness hoon.

Virat : Toh dahado..

Sai : Huh?

Virat : Arre lioness ho na. Toh chalo chalo dahado.

Sai roars.

Virat : Ghabarlo na mi. Yeh lioness hai? Ya billi hai?

Sai : Accha aap dahadke dikhao.

Virat : Main kyun dahadu?

Sai : Arre aap lion hai na..

Virat : Haan. Mi lion ahe.. Virat Chavan lion ahe..

Sai : Haan chalo. Roar.

Virat roars. Sai laughs.

Virat : Chalo chalo saath mein dahadte hai..

They roar together..

These scenes in entirety convey not only Sairat dynamics, they reflect the real Virat at times in bits, pieces, and cracks and sometimes in anger, silence, and joy.

The beauty of these two scenes -

Sai asks the question - who am I to you?

Sai answers the question - If you're the lion, I'm the lioness.

Sheer brilliance!

Two scenes - not connected, but interwoven in many ways!

___________________________

Very few things about a lion -

He's the king of the jungle.

He protects his pride.

Makes sure everyone is taken care of.

Doesn't take up every fight.

Likes to chill and sleep when well-fed 😂

Lion symbolizes -

Majesty

Courage

Strength

Protection

Power

Pride

Family

Affection

Wisdom

Lioness on the other hand is commonly related to - the Great Mother and Protection.

And most importantly, like any other animals lion is extremely territorial.

____________________________________

Virat's alter-ego, his daydream conversations with family members, and nightmares have been frequent since the beginning.

Virat's alter-ego wins every match.

Why only his alter-ego shows up time and again?

Hold on to this thought till the end.

____________________________________

"You are a murderer. You killed my father."

Imagine what an honest, clean, and a brave officer feel after facing this allegation?

This isn't been told to an inspector.

This is said to an IPS officer.

And who do you think an IPS officer is?

An IPS officer through and through is in-charge of his team.

In the truest sense, the head of his tribe.

From the day Virat joins GC team, Sai is after him for her Aaba's VRS. He has no clue about the reason. The only thing probably runs through his mind is she wants to be a doctor and it is a self-centered decision. We get to see quite little in this aspect with Pakhi's angle running in the background.

The first ever provocation from Sai is when she storms in Virat's house after Jagtap tries to bribe him.

When they quarrel over appointment and putting behind bars, she blurts out the truth of Jagtap's misbehavior towards her.

Virat confirms this by looking at Usha. He begins to trust eventually that there's more to what already seems to be.

He doesn't stop there. He tries to know more from Kamal.

On his GC visit with Kamal, the latter briefs him about Vitthal Mane and Jagtap.

"Ab samajh aaya mujhe itne short notice par yaha kyun bulaya hai."

And when the information is correct and on point he engages in combating the problem - that might be accompanying Sai to school, keeping her in a different location, disguising as a milkman to check on her and give her food.

Parallel - Patralekha is all set to marry Samrat.

And the "promise" fiasco.

Why does one think in their wildest dreams to promise something to their to-be sister-in-law?

Virat likes Patralekha.

Patralekha likes Virat.

Maybe, they also intended to marry each other.

But a twist of fate!

When both sides are clear, a territory is marked.

Virat knew Patralekha liked him.

Virat knew he liked her.

Virat knew she wasn't happy marrying Samrat.

Virat knew he too was heartbroken.

If Virat Chavan is the lion and his territory is already marked, what stops him from taking a decision? What stops him from telling the truth?

There are other lions in the jungle!

Experienced, brave, honest, protective, and loving.

And then comes

"Virat Chavan jyachi pakki zabaan"

These scenes ran parallel. One at GC and other at CN. Both situations his word was at stake.

I'm glad that this post got delayed (whatever the reason). But makers have maintained this rhythm with Virat's character in the recent episodes.

______________________________

I remember @moor comparing few of the remarriage scenes pertaining to "trust" with MiMo and Shruthi track.

If we speak about Virat's character, I see these scenes related to GC track in its entirety.

Virat : Jise tum apni marzi samajh rahi ho, vo marzi nahi darr hai. Aur aisa darr jo hai hi nahi.

The police grab the shooter and bring him out of the hiding.

Flashback-

With the help of drone, the police get to know about the shooter who had been hiding in the jungle.

Cut to.....

Virat : "Sai ka jawaab main dunga".

Sai: "Virat sir jarur doctor kahenge".

Virat : Bahu. Sai bahu banegi.

Sai : Virat Sir aapko samajh mein bhi aa raha hai? Kaku chahti hain ki main bahu ban ne ke liye apna medical career chhod du.

Virat : Isiliye maine yeh jawaab diya hai.

Sai : Lekin Virat Sir....

Virat : Sai, Mujh par bharosa hai?

Sai : Sabse jyada.

Virat : Mujhse pyaar karti ho?

Sai : Khud se bhi jyada.

Virat : Toh iss waqt mujh par bharosa rakho. Ab jo keh raha hoon karne ke liye woh karo. Karogi na?

Sai ne bahu ban na chuna hai.

Bhavani : Virat tune bilkul sahi faisla liya hai. Aakhir tu hai toh Chavan hi. Aur Chavan kabhi joru ke ghulaam nahi hote.

Virat : Kya ab hum humara aakhri phera le sakte hai?

Bhavani : Haan. Haan. Kyun nahi. Lo.

They continue taking the phera.

Virat (monologue) : Sai mere jawaab se bahot pareshaan hogi. Main jaanta hoon uske mann mein abhi sawaalon ka toofan uth raha hoga.

Bhavani : Ab kya kahogi Patralekha?

It might be Jagtap Or Bhavani, Virat took a step back in tackling them. He puts his strategic mind to use to diffuse the situation for the time-being.

A lion never chases. He waits and looks out for the right opportunity.

Virat announces his new name - Virat Sai Chavan.

Bhavani is quick to catch him! How he fooled them. How he kept them in dark. And how he is twisting the rules of the game.

Bhavani is no fool!

That might be with Virat, Pakhi Or Sai.

She gives one one to each one 😂

When family opposes in the name of Ninad, he keeps Ninad on his side. That's intelligent!

I previously spoke about other lions in the jungle.

Who are they?

Bhavani Chavan

Kamal Joshi

Sai Joshi

Virat knows this. Virat knows how territorial these people are. He never competes with them.

Kamal was his mentor. He learnt from him. He appreciates his honesty. He has seen him being so protective of his daughter. He keeps his promise made to him.

Sai enters his life unexpectedly. Her attachment with her father, her righteousness, and her independence. He understands one thing clearly - Sai won't do anything against her will and wish.

Bhavani on the other end is the matriarch he looks up to after his uncle. Her ability to keep the family together, her passion to lead others. She might carry her old beliefs. He makes sure that the line is not crossed.

Kamal taught him that emotions should never come in the way of responsibilities.

Bhavani taught him that no matter what family has to be together.

Sai taught him that no matter what you stick by what you say in actions, thoughts and feelings.

Virat learns from everyone and tries to balance out what works out best

Virat takes up Sai's responsibility by marrying her. Only he has enough courage to slap Vitthal on their wedding when the latter misbehaves with Sai.

Yes, emotions shouldn't come in the way of responsibility. But we are talking about Virat Chavan here.

He pushes Sai to help everyone with the household chores but he openly crosses Bhavani when she doesn't allow Sai to pursue her studies.

Yes, family is important and fair treatment is the key. But we are talking about Virat Chavan here.

Virat : Aur yeh kya hai yeh aaye din ghar walon par bomb ki tarah phat ti rehti ho. What's all this?

Sai : Toh aap bhi apne gharwalon se kahe ki mujhme barood bharna band kare.

Yes, it is necessary to put your opinion. But we are talking about Virat Chavan here.

He probably is a man of few words, no explanations, of balance.

Rarely he crossed Pakhi in front of everyone. Not because he couldn't see her wrongdoings. But because he knew that's not his territory. She is his family, thanks to Samrat. But ge doesn't decide anything for or because of her, that's Samrat's call. He gives him his space and reprimands Pakhi in private.

Virat : Aur tumne yeh jo abhi abhi Sai aur apna comparison kiya hai. Ek hi baat kahunga. Tum dono alag alag insaan ho. Aur main nahi chahta koi bhi aurat apni tulna meri patni se kare.

Virat's territory was marked the day he married Sai. But he knew Sai. He didn't chase. He tried different ways but once he know the territory was unconquerable he left it as it is only to wait on the side.

Virat : Pati hone ka haq jataane gaya tha, ab tumhe dekhne ka haq bhi kho chuka hoon.

Virat waited for Sai to proclaim her territory openly. She did and the way she did the entire works knew about it.

Virat's joy knew no limits when Sai circled him while playing the drum.

Sonali rightly said "iss ladki ke dhol nagaade Virat ke sar chad gaye hai" (Smthn around this) .

Yes, the territory is marked on both sides and now there's no going back.

No matter what, there's no way Virat will let go of Sai even if it means breaking her heart, dreams, and decisions in front of the world.

In private, Virat accepts that what Bhavani did was wrong and that too at the wrong time.

In essence, he doesn't want other people's mistakes to come in the way of their relationship.

______________________________________

If you have held on the concept of "alter-ego", here are two cents.

Why only Virat's alter-ego is shown time and again?

I absolutely draw his character's parallel with Simba from Lion King.

There's a significant scene in the movie where Simba looks at his reflection and sees Mufasa. It's the subtle yet powerful realisation that he is the Lion, he is the King, and his Pride needs him.

Who makes him realise this?

Nala, Rafiki, Mufasa.

Time and again Virat's alter-ego has shown up. The reason?

A certain hesitation holds him back in the form of guilt (kamal lost his life while saving him), fear (what if samrat knows about his and Pakhi's affair? What if Bhavani's strange demands take Sai away from him?) , anger (Sai not acknowledging his efforts on anniversary).

Fear, guilt, anger are those blindfolds that never let the true self shine. Virat faces the same issue.

Little by little these layers are dropping off and the lion is emerging.

Virat : Mujhme sach ka saamna karne ki himmat nahi thi. Lekin aj main yeh kar pa raha hoon toh Sai ki wajah se. Kaash mujhe Sai pehle mil gayi hoti. Yeh sab kabhi hota hi nahi.

Now that Sai has proclaimed her love, nothing can stop Virat from taking the lead even if it means being shrewd, sweet, or manipulative.

The real deal - Only Virat's alter-ego can bring out the lion.

For he is Virat, not V-Rat!

P. S: My recovery has been slow. Thanks for your wishes. I'm better than before. I've a lot to comment on many scenes. Maybe will do that this or next week.

Wow!!! Mindblowing 👏👏👏 I was waiting for your post from the time you promised 😆

I loved loved how you brought the parallels. So beautifully you have connected the dots right from the beginning to end. 👏 Fantasic will be an understatement 👍🏼 Now I can see THE Virat theme being interwoven into the 500 episodes of screenplay. 👍🏼

Der aaye durusth aaye 🤗

Quick question- wasnt there something u said about Virat leaving Sai's hand when Shivani asked - Viru tumne BK ki sharth kyu maan liya? Kya ab Sai doctor nahin banegi?

You had mentioned that it was a significant action from Virat.

Will patiently wait for your take on that.

You are absolutely right about this analysis. This gives crystal clear clarity on the complex character that he is, why Virat behaves the way he behaves in each situation 👏

Very interesting analysis... Will have to re read it again to understand better.

I liked how you said that he doesn't reprimand Pakhi in public. To me it looks like he is in guilt for ruining her life and consequently Sammy's life... But if he reprimands her in public it would look like only she is the guilty party when infact it is he who made that vaada to her and instigated her to get married.

So out of that guilt to protect her honour somehow, he ignores her as much as he can. Thats my interpretation.

Wow you have written beautifully ❤️. Virat is writer’s delight! You can’t define him in one sentence or paragraph. He needs understanding! Unlike sai who is mostly one dimensional character and can be defined with few adjectives that are mostly positive. Virat needs analysis of situations around him . He has seen more world and situations and learnt to deal with them.

You captured it well by giving out some key moments. 👍🏼 I liked the other lions!! Very true. 😃

While sai believes in immediate justice and correction, virat believes in change and rehabilitation. The way he tolerates pakhi is an example! It is not his previous feelings or relationship with her that makes him like that, but his inherent belief that people will change, life will change! It is very subtly shown. He has acceptance for people and their frailties. Which is a good trait.

Hi Moor

Have included V's conversation with Samrat after the cafe meet.

Though V is highly driven by guilt throughout the series (that's why the title) , his confession in front of the family after the cafe scene was a crucial turning point. Had he not done that, I'd said he's driven by guilt.

His cafe conversation with Pakhi was also significant. He has closed the chapter and guilt too.

In fact with regards to Pakhi, V and Sai have been on the same page without them knowing about it.

Sai thinks V is in love with Pakhi even after marriage. She lets him decide for himself.

When Samraat returns, she lets Samrat take the call.

She voices out her opinion but she doesn't decide Pakhi's fate by interfering in her matters.

Same is with V. The cafe scene was a complete closure from his side.

But the family revelation was important for samrat's sake and he does that because he overhears Shivani and Sai. It doesn't stem for or from Pakhi. Had it been guilt he'd have done it because of Pakhi's insistence.

He agrees to meet her in cafe because Samrat knew the truth before he could tell anything to him.

It is not guilt. It is territory.

When Sai returns to GC after Devkit's wedding, V clearly marks it for Pakhi "humaare rishte ke kuch daayre hai Pakhi, dhyaan rahe yeh daayra kabhi na toote"

Now that the kavdi has fallen in Pakhi's lap, it will be interesting to see how this turns out to be.

But from my perspective, Virat has broken the wall of guilt at the cafe.

This is interesting because this just made me realise I am a lot like Sai and my husband is a lot like Virat 😆 We are poles apart in personality but we manage to strike a balance eventually in every situation. I am too direct and immediate like Sai (in my husband's words- impatient and impulsive 🤣and too self righteous and vocally just) but he takes time to analyse every situation and many times, does not even react which confuses the other party 😆 Ghum's characters are real life human beings 👍🏼

Thanks to @daydreamers for this great analysis 🤗

Virat is a highly confused and inconsistent character. His heart is in the right place but he screws up way too much. When faced with a choice he makes the wrong one 90% of the time and lives in the delusion that he did the right thing and has way too much self righteousness and self pity. And he always gives benefit of doubt to the wrong people but never accords that to his wife because he has unrealistic expectations from her. He also demonstrates that he clearly does not learn from his mistakes and does not evolve. The only things to appreciate about him is that he never has any ill intentions. He doesn't harbor bad will. He doesn't hesitate to take responsibility of things onto himself. But thats it. All of that amounts to nothing when he repeatedly screws up, repeating his mistakes over n over again.
