Its been always you!

Part 1: My heart

Sai and Virat's bedroom

Sai came back home after finishing her last minute shopping to buy some clothes for her husband. This is the first time she bought something for him, but she knows what suits him the best. She felt exhilarated knowing that he will wear whatever she gives him. She always knew, she thought that he values her. But now, the knowledge which is becoming more and more obvious is making her restless and tensed. She bubbled with anticipation of meeting him...however, not sure what to say him. She still has doubts on what he expects from her. The only question that bothers her still is the cafe incident. What would have happened there? But the connection they made in this one week over the phone, definitely says his heart is with her. Her mind accepted that what they feel for eachother is love, but one year of her meticulous efforts in building the walls around heart, she still has fear. Fear that if it is anything but what she feels for him, she would never be able to trust him again, with whatever feelings he shows he has for her.

She was trembled when the shopkeeper's voice broke her stupor. Internally berating herself for letting her mind to touch the uncomfortable doubts again, she convinced herself that what she feels for him cant be delusional.

She escaped the confrontation in the main room of her house, and sneaked into her bedroom hoping to finish the packing before her husband calls her at 9PM.

Ashwini found her with dupatta tied diagonally across her shoulder to waist and her hair covering the entire face obstructing her view while she sits on her big suitcase wresting with the zipper.

"Sai bai! what are you doing? Careful with your fingers, not sure if you could even see", she said trying to pull the hair from her face and holding it back. "People say it correctly, my DIL is a jungli", she quipped.

"What is this Aaii, you also", Sai pouted at her MIL's remark, getting down from the suitcase finally closing the zip.

"But a lovely Jungli", Ashwini pulled her cheeks, wondering how they all landed with this gold like always. "Ok tell me why you are packing your bags now! Dont say that you are leaving this house again? I am not your husband to put up with your antics", she warned her, not without a bit of frown on her forehead.

"No Aai, I am not. Ok Yes, I am. But I am leaving to my other home", She said trying to tease her MIL a bit. Seeing her getting more agitated, she quickly pacified her "Aai, I am going to Virat Sir tomorrow!", she blurted out, completely expecting her reaction.

Ashwini pulled her into a tight embrace, "True Sai?!, you are going to meet Virat?", She asked again with disbelief. The way Sai said her this news conveyed that they sorted out their differences, whatever they had. She wiped her tears and said. "This is the day I was waiting for, the day when you both realize the importance of staying together." and proceeded to feed her the dinner she brought for her.

Both mother and daughter sat at her table while Aai fed her.

"But Sai Bai, how are you going there? More than that, what are you going to say to Trimurthi tomorrow and that... pakhi", she slowly added.

"Aai, I have made all the arrangements with the police head quarters. They arranged my travel. I will be leaving by train tomorrow at noon and should reach there by evening. Someone from the police station there will pick me up and drive me to our quarters." she explained not before adding "Yes Aai, a female police officer will be coming to pick me up, dont worry. Also I told them not to inform Virat sir so I can surprise him", she chuckled. " Aai, I also planned with Mohit bhaiyya and Sunny bhaiyya to bring you all day after tomorrow for Virat Sir's birthday", she said enthusiastically. "And coming to Trimurthi, I will handle them and for Pakhi didi, I will tell her what I ought to have told her already..", she ended with a deep sigh.

Not stopping there, Sai asked Ashwini something she didnt plan to ask but had it in mind for so long like a pest eating her away...

"Aai, am I a good choice for a daughter in law?", she asked with a hint of doubt in her voice.

Aai was surprised that her Sai who she always thought as person who gives a damn to what others think of her is asking this question. But she also understands where this question comes from, after all that is what is being sown in her mind by the family!

"Sai," she patted her cheeks gently, "This is the truth. I cant put into words how lucky this family is to find you...you have shown responsibility beyond your age...", she was cut by Sai before she could finish.

"And for Virat Sir Aai?", she blurted out whats eating her for so long "Am I a good choice for him?", she looked at her MIL with anticipation.

Aai understood all her insecurites with that question and teared up. She knows that it is not easy for a woman to live under one roof with the same person who claims her husband at every chance she gets. Anger rose like bile in the pit of Ashwini's stomach at that woman who turned every stone to create rift between her son and daughter-in-law. She wiped her tears and told Sai with all her life experiences and suffering she faced in her own marriage in three statements.

"Sai, first thing. Never ever measure your worth from other person's view, even if it is your husband. Your self worth is your earning, not a charity. Second thing, you and your husband are the only citizens in your marriage, never let a third person come in between the decisions you make as a couple and Final thing, see your beauty in the eyes of your husband, I am sure you will find yourself the most beautiful in Virat's eyes" she concluded, her last statement invoking a shy smile from her daughter in law. She knows how important it is for Sai to feel confident in this family where there is repeated comparison of her looks and behavior with Pakhi. She continued feeding Sai when the hair fell into her mouth again.

"Sai, you are a child really!", Ashwini reprimanded "Cant to tie your hair when you are home. They say married women should not leave their hair like this."

"Aai, what are you saying...", Sai negated her. "Ok but I cant find any of my clutches that I use regularly. wait I will use rubber band only but it will spoil my curls", Sai got up to tie her hair with rubber band.

After some banter and packing along with her MIL, she resigned to her bed side awaiting the most anticipated call from her husband. She lied on her side of the bed and reminisced all the memories they made from the either side of the pillow fort. Gently pulling the pillows, mentally making a note that she from her side will never ever put them up again, she made a small fort one last time. Thats when she saw it...one of her two black clutches buried under her husband's pillow!! She was surprised at first, but something was breaking around her heart...filling her with joy... and the phone rang confirming that she is not dreaming!

NOTE: The chapter was becoming too long...So had to split into 3 parts. I added Ashwini and Sai's conversation a bit after watching last two episodes seeing Sai's confidence waning away. Sorry if it feels disconnected but I tried my best to make it flow.
