My bad. Him giving explanations to Pakhi, in my mind, is attributed to his guilt. My brain froze for a second, and I did not understand what I was typing. He knows he has made the vaada to her, and he is trying to explain himself so that he does not hurt her feelings. That is just my POV.

Everything else- the room entering at night, phone calls, etc. is him not seeing past his own emotions.

There is a huge difference between having residual feelings and acting upon it . Virat never acted in it period . He had many occasions to indulge in EMA if not physical atleast emotional but he chose not to . Few examples are he refused to eat from Pakhi hand when she tried feeding her . Yes. I agree that he did not act upon his residual feelings.. the only problem was him keeping her near and calling her a friend.. the midnight rendezvous and the explanations he gave for his actions.. like in case of first night mishap.. I understand that he was trying to clarify her that he hasn’t broken his vaada yet.. but in Pakhi’s mind these were creating a false hope that he still cares about her feelings, unintentionally he fed her delusions with such actions.

Later when his residual feelings dissipated, his guilt heightened and Pakhi started manipulating this guilt. The guilt practically petrified him while he was clearly able to see her actions, couldn’t reprimand her... for instance, the during the Ladakh trip, her actions seemed misappropriate to him but couldn’t act upon it coz he felt he was the responsible for her plight. Though he started calling her out for her misbehavior time and again, still there is lingering guilt in his heart. He unknowingly built a web around him, in which he is stuck now.

All said and done, Pakhi is the one with the loose morals, without any doubt.
