This is truly tragic, I thought this role would be a crown jewel on Neil's career. Man I was so wrong. This show is fetching trps but virat is reduced to a caricature.

I mean it's not like other ITV ML are any better but this feels really bad because virat was supposed to be progressive and understanding. Makers made just believe in a healthy relationship only to ruin it like this.

Makers are getting TRPs but they have truly messed up the characters. At this point were all only watching to see Pakhi get humiliated😆

Glad someone feels the same way.

TBH I feel bad for him. He gets really ill fitting and old looking tshirts and torn jeans for ML. Only decent thing he wears is the uniform or kurtas. His tshirts are so horrible that i am actually fine looking at him in striped shirts.

Upar se they make him look bad by not giving good dialogues.

Eventually he might disconnect with the character.

What r d qualities to become perfect & best ML ?

I'm sure no one wants a perfect ML or FL. If they did, they would have to watch Disney channel.😅

What one wants is consistent characterisation which has depth. Take Mahabharata for example. Really great characters - all flawed. Someone's favourite might be Karna, for others Draupadi or Krishna.

Virat is probably the most inconsistently written character in GHKKPM. In GC days, he was shown to be someone who was respectful to women. 100 episodes later they made him abusive in PD lunch episode. He was never shown to be weak - he was diplomatic but firm. Slowly, they started showing him standing mute in important situations - made him seem very, very weak. He was shown to be hard on Sai but soft on his elders even for their atrocities. He was shown as an intelligent and perceptive young man - now they have made him look dumb. All his good characteristics have been diluted. Even otherwise there is no consistency - one episode he will behave in one way, next episode he will turn 180 degrees - like a pendulum. There is no depth in his characterisation - he is almost as badly written as Pakhi. Neil is the only saving grace for Virat. For all her manipulative nature, even Pakhi could have been shown as sympathetic if the writers wanted. Instead she looks like a delusional, caricature vamp. No wonder people hate her.

MLs are always butchered here to glorify FL, it's not a new thing in ITV serials. You'll hardly find ML oriented serials. The original owner of the shows, created different types of a**hole ML ; villain out of heroes. But the reception of Virat's character by audience isn't same like other MLs, that's a different topic.

Virat's original character is way different than it's original counterpart. He wasn't shown egoistic MCP but a people pleaser person. But the CVS in order to copy the track and scenes, ruined his initial character. If Virat was introduced as East, CVS made him to do West, that's made the difference.

In this track, the original counterpart was mum due to ego and stubbornness, but Virat is made mum because they couldn't think anything out of the box. He'll eventually tell Sai that vaada doesn't hold anymore but then he was made to look like this. But only because of CVS's lack of writing original script, they're ruining the scenes and the character. Because according to his character also, he won't have to do this after the growth and progression..

So Virat is worst ML ? No.

Badly written character? Yes.

I think I need some more dose of ITV - to realise there are terrible MLs much much worse than Virat. Phew!😅

Agree. The perils of blind copy paste. Never seen lazier bunch of writers.

Its a pity though. The character had potential - to be a flawed but relatable character. With Neil's acting, it would have been really good. Alas, that was not to be.😢

If Neil had not seen KD before signing up for this role, he would be rueing the day. I do feel bad for him. Generally, MLs are butchered after about a year or so. This show is just half way there and things are already so bad - he has become the most dispensable character. The day will not be far when NB will totally lose interest.

But my assumptions were proven wrong really soon. Virat is the most inconsistently written character in the entire show. Even karishma is written tangentially but not the damn male lead.

I think Virat has many flaws inherently which the makers didn't explore or even tried to rectify by plotlines BUT chose to shove them under the garb of him being a "progressive" husband.

Virat could've been an outright gray character and I would've been really happy but makers have made him a literal pendulum, it seems like he has no mind of his own despite being a high ranking officer whose job is to catch criminals. It just all makes virat look so stupid.

For the writers, they could've avoided few scenes which were OTT and actually really ruined their male lead like denying Sai food or kicking her out of the house. I know they are getting TRPs out of this but how will someone justify this behaviour?

Why do they want to send their damn male lead down a path which is irredeemable? Do they realise they're making their make lead look so apathetic and downright abusive.

Makers really need to wake up and realise what damage they've done to their leads characterisation. It's only because of the leads chemistry that people are still sticking to the show, so thank god for the actors.

Well said. Exactly.

I have said this earlier too saying again for me to start watching the show was Neil. I am not into triangles but I have seen his acting so started watching the show.

Virat is not worst but he is in the list of one of the worst male leads on ITV. There r very rare good male leads but I am actually very disappointed with the character Virat.

He hasn't physically harrased Sai only brownie points he gets otherwise the mental and emotional torture Sai gets everyday (I don't think this much harrasment has happened to any other female lead bcoz the whole show is happening in Living area) is wayy too much that too for a 18yr old who just commited suicide and lost her whole world.

I think the extra bashing Virat gets is bcoz of the characterization which was shown in intial episodes. He was shown as sweet, calm, sorted man, A breathe of a fresh male lead from typical angry young man. Most importantly he being IPS. I myself is very much angry with the way this show is degrading IPS and Army man. Bcoz agar Virat aur uske baba jese log hamari surakhsa kar rahe hain toh phir hum khatre mein hain. The family in ITVs r pretty toxic but this family is gross (can never forget the talk of Ninad and Pakhi in hospital, bcoz it is ITV and prime time if it would have been a 11pm show I am damn sure they would have clearly said I am fine with your ema bcoz I myself is involvedin it) Virat stays with them still doesn't know what is happening in his family.

Virat also looses his points when he doesn't even stand for his mother who is getting tortured from yrs. He knows his mother is getting abused but does nothing. Most of the male leads have one parent but whoever they have they love and respect them unconditionally which Virat doesn't do. We have seen him talking horribly with his mother in front of all abusers.

He always insults Sai in front of his family but says sorry in his room.

Writers and many fans have forgotten but I can never forget he called her mad and said she needs medical treatment.

I stopped shipping Sairat long back but I stopped defending the character of Virat after that. Sai never talked about it and just bcoz he got shot everything got back to normal.

Honestly I like Sai but I can't anymore after soo much insult I think most of the shows has redemtion tracks I have rarerly seen Virat doing that he just cries give another vaada and next episode breaks it and repeat the process.

Just bcoz trp is coming the show is going on. There is no story we make fun of Ekta shows about remarriage and repeatation of things. Here too is happening same Virat Sai ka 1 good scene, Pakhi and others ka tamsha Sai replies back, all insults specially Pakhi, Virat the mute spectator, Sai replies back, Virat gets back his voice calls out how she insulted his ex, He starts shitting, later realises says sorry, cries, gives another vaada and Pakhi enters and taunts if writer is in good mood makes Virat answer her back but repectfully with low voice, new day New taunt, breaking of vaada and repeat the process.

Most of the marriages on ITV r arranged and mostly forced. Nowadays I don't see much insult of Female leads in Sasural due to loving saas ka trend. Male leads r not great but after marrying one is there that we see rarely anyone insulting his wife in public or even in front of his family.

The biggest problem is that once male lead falls in love doesn't let anyone else insult his wife. But Virat let's them to insult Sai and also insults her more and let people talk in their relationship as we have seen Pakhi speaks the most. Problem is respecting a relationship is not only physical but also emotional and mentally which Virat does rarely.

Yes he's shit

The problem is that it's SaiRat till the end sadly

This also means Sai's character will be further dragged down & demeaned because she is forgiving Virat & still wants to be with a complete loser

Yeah man same. I feel he's tired already. He doesn't seem into it anymore specially from the last few episodes. When the show started, his whole look, his expressions just everything was perfect. But idk now I hope he's fine that's all.

Makers really have a bad wardrobe for both the leads. Even other characters except Pakhi and bhavani. Idk their costume department sucks actually. The jewellery also looks so outdated tbh.
