Wish you understood the nuance of different topics. Nobody "hates" any character like you think they do.

And idk the author didn't mention jagtap or sai yet you mentioned it. I don't think this topic was about her honestly.

It was only about virat and how he's badly written by the writers that's all which is a legitimate concern in itself and doesn't need any other comparisons. Thank you.

When I saw Neil in the show and watched few episodes I was really impressed by the seemingly progressive male lead. I thought finally Neil will get the best role of his career.

But my assumptions were proven wrong really soon. Virat is the most inconsistently written character in the entire show. Even karishma is written tangentially but not the damn male lead.

I think Virat has many flaws inherently which the makers didn't explore or even tried to rectify by plotlines BUT chose to shove them under the garb of him being a "progressive" husband.

Virat could've been an outright gray character and I would've been really happy but makers have made him a literal pendulum, it seems like he has no mind of his own despite being a high ranking officer whose job is to catch criminals. It just all makes virat look so stupid.

For the writers, they could've avoided few scenes which were OTT and actually really ruined their male lead like denying Sai food or kicking her out of the house. I know they are getting TRPs out of this but how will someone justify this behaviour?

Why do they want to send their damn male lead down a path which is irredeemable? Do they realise they're making their make lead look so apathetic and downright abusive.

Makers really need to wake up and realise what damage they've done to their leads characterisation. It's only because of the leads chemistry that people are still sticking to the show, so thank god for the actors.

Sometimes even Omi gets more dialogues than ML.

I thought thats why they have Sonali/ Karishma/Mohit for and they are doing pretty good job at it.

ML should do more than reacting and emoting.

This is truly tragic, I thought this role would be a crown jewel on Neil's career. Man I was so wrong. This show is fetching trps but virat is reduced to a caricature.

I mean it's not like other ITV ML are any better but this feels really bad because virat was supposed to be progressive and understanding. Makers made just believe in a healthy relationship only to ruin it like this.

Makers are getting TRPs but they have truly messed up the characters. At this point were all only watching to see Pakhi get humiliated😆

He was able to stop that mess in two minutes with just two lines....if he would have said:

- he met pp in camp and he gave that vaada to her at pp-samrat wedding

- now he is taking that vaada back (???🤣) and wants to move on with sai

But, no writers are milking this mess for trp reasons..... and making him real pendulum.

One time he gives sai so much importance and other minute he entertains pp delusions.... 🤣

Well said. The characterisation is pathetic. He was introduced as a ideal man and then ever since marriage he has gone downhill. Unlike other ITV Ml Virat’s graph is getting worse with time. If he was a grey ckt it would have still been fine. But he says one thing, does the opposite and comes across as a hypocrite. Where’s the consistency? The stupidest writing I have seen in ITv is Virat

If I am being honest, I find hard to connect this version of Virat who listen to every insult that the wife face from the family ( this is also just after his redemption) and this is the woman who he claims to love. It is purely creatives’ fault. Because I know how much of good actor Neil is. He can emote any kind of scene that makes you feel you are there. I saw him grow from Gulaal to here.

And Ayesha- this young actress has grown so much and they are wasting her graph as well by making her character not connectable.

Also, what about all other talented hard working actors and actresses.

We don’t need a copy paste of the original. It will not suit today’s time. Why can’t they show some kind of creativity and show both leads as people of today’s time.

Virat is a badly written character. But he's the saint among the current lot despite he's not a good character. (Yes the bar of ML is that much low in ITV). MLs are always butchered here to glorify FL, it's not a new thing in ITV serials. You'll hardly find ML oriented serials. The original owner of the shows, created different types of a**hole ML ; villain out of heroes. But the reception of Virat's character by audience isn't same like other MLs, that's a different topic.

Virat's original character is way different than it's original counterpart. He wasn't shown egoistic MCP but a people pleaser person. But the CVS in order to copy the track and scenes, ruined his initial character. If Virat was introduced as East, CVS made him to do West, that's made the difference.

In this track, the original counterpart was mum due to ego and stubbornness, but Virat is made mum because they couldn't think anything out of the box. He'll eventually tell Sai that vaada doesn't hold anymore but then he was made to look like this. But only because of CVS's lack of writing original script, they're ruining the scenes and the character. Because according to his character also, he won't have to do this after the growth and progression..

So Virat is worst ML ? No.

Badly written character? Yes.
