Saraswati's Dilemma - Discussion

Seeing as there are so many posts and reactions to Saraswati's assault, and her subsequent actions, I have created this post for everyone to post their views.

Just to recap, it would appear as if Bhavisya raped and beat her quite brutally. He was arrested after the housekeeping staff found Saraswati unconcious and beaten in their room. Now Saraswati is unsure about whether to charge him.

Personally, I think Saraswati is a victim of her upbringing. If the same had happened to her mother, she would have reacted in the same way. Her father asked her not to disgrace his name when she left, pressing charges against her husband will bring disgrace to both their families.

Saraswati has put aside the personal pain she is feeling because of family honor. Perhaps if Suryakant arrives and supports her she might charge Bhavisya.

What are your views on the issue?

VERY TRUE!...in a way i was realll mad when saraswati supported that stupid bhav. God know swhats gonna happen now...well evry1 keeps on saying the same thing dat saraswati must stand up, support herself blah blah blah..but its not very easy...and now when all this shocking crime has been commited, i dunno wat to say...coz in the first plac he is her husband. r there ny chances of ny1 else doing this to her? poooor khsitij too..i m feeling very bad for him.

yesh saraswati is like that cos her mum savariti is the same,
but a father is a father afterall if saraswati told her father would he not try to do something against it, its not like marrying twice would disgrace their family honour
why does saraswati not speak up, if she is too scared to tell her dad, why not try speaking to satya or his sister or her sisters
how could anyone bear such animal behaviour, it is wrong, and not speaking against it is a sin,
women have the rights like men, to be treated properly and with respect
wat kinda izzat gives pain but nothing else?
wat kind of izzat gives tears and no happiness?

It is not the matter of family prestige. Bhavishya is a devil and he should be punished for what he did.

If Saraswati charged him, it's not bringing disgrace to her family. It's the husband's fault, not Saraswati's. So Sara's father has so right to blame her if she charges him. If the father can't understand her situation, then he has to look at the world around him and see that his daughter is more important then "family name." Besides, it's actually the dad's fault for getting her married to him, the dad should have known the husband first before letting Sara marry Bhav.. 😕

well i wouldn't say that its suryakant's fault that this happened to saraswati. how was he to know that the guy he picked to be her husband was such an animal.

i think saraswati should talk this over with suryakant. tell him everything that happened. i can't imagine any father telling his daughter to go back to her husband after what bhavishya did to her.

hopefully suryakant becomes the father that he should be to saraswati and supports her in this situation. she should charge that low life and send his a** packing to jail!

nobody has the right to hit her or any woman, she should press charges cause it will only get worse, on the other hand her father will be angry and her in-laws will be angry as well and will chuck her out

I think she won't do anything, because she is a wimp like her mother. What I don't get is what is his enmity with her. Why does this Bhavishya (or whatever) hate this poor girl so much? What did she ever do to him and his family? I just don't get it. And why did the step-mother get her into this family anyway? Her son is treated like gold so why does she hate those girls? I see no reason for this show and all the enmity directed toward the wimp Savitri and her pitiable girls. Everyone hates them and mistreats them, why? Now this horrible abuse that this poor girl is going through. I do not think she will press charges and her father will never support her regardless. Is it because I'm not Indian that I don't see the point of this show? Are things really like this in 2007 in India? And if they are, why put that on tv as entertainment?

if your not indian reniji66 then your gonna find it really difficult to understand half the things that go on. this kind of stuff still happens and why put it on tv......i dunno, we're still watching it aren't we?

I agree with rengi66. It is hard to believe that in this day and age and in rich and affluent families like these there is so much ignorance and narrow mindedness prevailing. Women in India are not so helpless as they are being portrayed in these serials. Writers need to put on their thinking caps again and do a reality check.
