Very Very Regressive!!!

Hi all.😊 I'm really really surprised that there is not a single post in this forum discussing how regressive and demeaning to women this serial is. 😕I don't watch it, I'm a big Kahaani fan, but when I saw that this is ahead of Kahaani in the trps, I just thought I'd read its written update and I'm absolutely shocked by the updates. A guy leaves his wife to re-marry coz he wants a son!😡 How cheap and disgusting is that?😡 I'm actually shocked that no one has commented on how pathetic the start of the story itself is and am even more surprised that people are liking this. No offence to anyone here, this is just my personal opinion. Doesn't even one person here feel this is a super regressive serial and is actually downright insulting to women? Ok, they may show some girl speak up eventually but after showing such shabby, shoddy treatment of women in the beginning, its so pathetic. I'm actually wondering now where all those people who are always targetting Ekta for her 'regressive' soaps are now? Ekta's soaps have never shown anyone shunning their daughters coz they want sons. In fact, in all Ekta's soaps, women reign supreme in every sense and are always shown with so much respect and dignity. Tulsi, Parvati, Prerna, name it, a strong feminine character. But this show's women... nothing better than doormats!!! Wonder why no one is saying anything now, serious double standards!!!Well, one thing is for certain, I intend to never watch this show coz I love Kahaani too much and anyways even if it wasn't for Kahaani I don't think I could ever watch a show which has hoardings like' Bete ek faayda, betiyaan ek ghata' plastered all over the city in the name of promotions. I repeat this is just my personal opinion, I wanted to share with u all and am sorry if this hurts or offends anyone, but I really do feel this is a horrifying show!

But I just want ur absolute honest, unbiased opinion guys! Do u or don't u agree that this show is regressive and is downgrading women all in the name of taking up a so called 'social cause'???

yes the show is showing women in a very demeaning way
but this is a true fact
thousands of women have abortions in India wen they find out that they have a daughter
why because a son can be heir and girls will get married and leave
its a discrimination against women that zee is tryin to show
maybe there goin about it in a wrong manner
and overexaggeratig the issue
but its a fact u will agree tat sons r more valuable to SOME FAMILIES than girls
im capitalizing the some since many do not believe in this and treat girls and boys equally
and about the second marriage i find it hard to believe tat u have never heard of man marrying another women becuz the first wife cant give them a heir even though the gene of whether a child is boy or girl is from the man but ppl dont know this
i have never seen kahaani so i dont know anything bout it but ive heard it a good show
anyways this just my opinion

I agree with MizzSoni. Though the story is putting women in poor light as if they are worthless even today there are people who keep trying to have sons (2 of my friends are a family of 5 girls as their parents are so desperate) and don't think that this happens only in serials, films or even in poor families as some people like to believe.

Well, thanks guys for agreeing with me. 😊 This is gonna be my last post in this forum coz quite frankly I have no interest in this show or its storyline but I was so horrified when I read the update that I just wanted to share my views with all of u. I agree with u MizzSoni and bulls-eye that all this happens, but the way it has been presented is appalling and I for one am surprised that no one has taken an objection. All these are sensitive topics and dealing with them so crudely just in order to make a serial is disgusting. Trust me, Ekta's soaps rock in comparison, don't remember one instance where there has been such tremendous disrespect shown to women. I personally am a huge fan of Ekta's and love all her shows coz all her characters are strong, dignified women with an identity of their own. 😊 MizzSoni, if u don't watch Kahaani pls do, its an awesome show and the best actress on T.V., Saakshi Tanwar plays the role of Parvati, she is brilliant. 👏 Join the KGGK forum, coz KGGK rocks!!! 😃 That's all I have to say, this is just my opinion, but really one has to draw a line somewhere and this show in my opinion has really crossed all limits of crudeness and is really insulting to all women. Well thats why this serial has been produced ..to bring certain age old fallacys which are still believed today .out in the open.there is a message in the show later down in the serial .

im sorry but i dont agree with this at all....EKTA SHOWING WOMEN WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT...are u kidding me????????😆 ekta is the last person to show women with power.....in Kyunki..i believe a woman was raped? no? erm....in kkusum, kkusum was always the underdog in her family...the only reason why her shows seem so much more pleasing to the eye is because she fabricates a layer of glitz and glamour on the front...i dont think her show is any better than this one....

this show portrays the reality that even in todays modern world, girls go through this. Each and every day...parents pine for the birth of a son...its wrong and dirty but unfortunately it is the truth.

i agree with you that it is wrong for a man to remarry just to give birth to a son...but that doesnt make the show wrong.....in Kkusum, didnt Abhay sleep with Mahi b/c kkusum was told she couldnt have children..since when is this totally different..i mean Savtri was told she couldnt have children....im not saying its right..its not...but Ekta's shows are no better than this.....

I think your love for KGGK is overshadowing the fact that Betiyaan may show more reality than any of the Ekta K serials and that is the reason why its doing better than many of her shows. Fine, its demeaning women but the audience are supposed to sympathise with the girls and womenhood. I am pretty sure it will show the women raising against the man power...eventually. Regressive the show maybe but it seems like the story is far more to home than any of the Ekta K. serials!

Hi Khush.😊 Well firstly I'd just like to clarify that I'm not here to start a fight between anyone of us and argue whether Ekta is better or someone else is. As I mentioned in my post, this is just my own opinion, u are most welcome to yours.😊 I am not forcing you to endorse my view or subscribe to it. U are most welcome to watch what u like and say what u like about any show, Ekta's or otherwise. But yeah, since u brought up this issue of the rape in Kyunki, I would like to remind u that in the same serial, they were bold enough to show Tulsi shooting dead her own son Ansh in order to save her d-i-l Nandini and going off to jail. What do u have to say about that? Similarly in Kahaani, when they featured the Khushi rape, there was a similar scenario. Again in Kyunki, they show a 40 year old Tulsi who doesn't have anything off her own, saving a baby girl who was being drowned, slapping the father, admonishing him and adopting and bringing up the baby girl. Well, in my opinion that is a strong woman and that's how the cause of the girl should be promoted, not in this manner where a father tosses aside his daughters and shuns them and his wife stands by meekly. I found the written update horrifying. Its not that I'm trying to say that whatever Ekta shows is correct or anyone else is wrong. As for Kusum, I never watched it so I don't know its story and I guess I'll take ur words at face value. If u have noticed, I rarely comment on any other show other than Kahaani or occassionally Kyunki. The only reason I commented on this one was coz I truly found it awful and once again I repeat this is my personal opinion only. If u wanna think I'm biased, its fine with me, no probs.😊 I just said what I felt, like it or hate it, but yeah, I have noticed none of u have disagreed with what I said. I know I said the last post was my final one, this definitely is coz I don't want to argue with any of u as we are all friends here, so this is my last post, like it or hate it, agree or disagree, I have no probs. hey hey hey..im not here to fight with anyone either😊 like u i was just stating my opinion as well...so dont worry, i havent taken anything to heart and please u dont either. Whut im trying to say is that no matter what show it is...ekta's or some other...women have been opressed in the worst ways and yet we still continue to watch the show. This show only shows the harsh reality...be it down right disgusting...but we shud watch for what wil come OUT of this show......i hope these girls stand up for themseleves and show their father what it is to be a woman....thats what i want to look forward to.....
