Very Very Regressive!!! - Page 2

Hey I was just reading it silently n after this post thought to post something that I experienced. The issue that they have shown guy marrying another woman just to have son is not untrue. It used to happen few generations before. I still remember my mother-in-law told me that her father-in-law was ready to get my father-in-law married to another woman when my mother-in-law gave birth to three daughters. she was given ultimatum that next time she will have to give birth to son. Well her fourth child was son..n my husband. Infact even my mom was forced to have son though she was not warned that my dad will get married again. But if she wouldn't have given birth to boy then she would be having 7-8 childrens as my grandmom had. So this was not uncommon few generations before.

And now last time when I visited India with my 6 months old daughter my mother-in-law told me that I will have to give birth to son as my second child. Infact she told me that since I had cesarean baby and I cant have more than two children I will have to give birth to son anyhow. And then she told me directly that go n check the sex of the baby and if it is girl then get it aborted. She reasoned it saying that my husband is his only son...so i ll ve to do that. I was so surprised to listen it. I thought how she can tell something like this when someday she was complaining about her father-in-law misdeed. It's not that she is anyone from village or something like that. Thank god my husband doesnt think like that.

So I just want to tell one who thinks they are insulting females...that it is not that way....they are just showing the truth...

this show may be downgrading for women, but it's an ugly fact of life for some women in India. It's unfortunate though . But i'm happy this show is showing the real fact unlike those EKTA shows 🤢

i do agree with your opinion but always remember it happend in india and you have no idea being a women i have even seen same thing in United Stats what our indian mentallity is so dont get obssessed wht they showed.

that was the starting of the serial they not gonna show that harshness they will show somewhat but not that bad and for your information if u like kahani its okay but ekta has gone really really really far which dont even exist in indian family like what meera,mandira, komolika and all did so this story is "credible" atleast coz it has happened and still some narrowminded man and women thinK boys r only Waris

I think your love for KGGK is overshadowing the fact that Betiyaan may show more reality than any of the Ekta K serials and that is the reason why its doing better than many of her shows. Fine, its demeaning women but the audience are supposed to sympathise with the girls and womenhood. I am pretty sure it will show the women raising against the man power...eventually. This couldn't have been said more better.

I watched KGGK, and it actually sucks. GKLB is far more realistic, and it's because of this fact, the Indian audience wants to watch it. India is still a patriarcal society - it might a different in the metroes. But else where, in the heart of India - all the villages- this is still life, and accepted ideals of many places in India.

What are Ekta shows trying to say? That everyone cries every day and Bahus are the best in the house.

What is GLKB trying to say? That women, by fact, is still the underdog in everyday society because of their gender. This show, like BMTD, is showing what life is like for the underprivileged women in India.

Look at Saloni - she's dark, and even though she's so sweet, she's blamed for everything because she's dark.

Look at Vidya - she's illiterate, and for this, she has been taken advantage from others.

Look at Laxshmi - she's a female. And for that, her own father pushes her and her mom and sisters aside.

It sounds stupid, but these things do happen in India everyday. It's just that Aaj Tak doesn't report this things or it doesn't come in the papers.

GKLB is factual and real. Remember that movie Matrubhoomi? It's sad, and it did happen.

Parvati can go cry in every episode. There's nothing insightful or entertaining in any sort of way.

im sorry but i dont agree with this at all....EKTA SHOWING WOMEN WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT...are u kidding me????????😆 ekta is the last person to show women with power.....in Kyunki..i believe a woman was raped? no? erm....in kkusum, kkusum was always the underdog in her family...the only reason why her shows seem so much more pleasing to the eye is because she fabricates a layer of glitz and glamour on the front...i dont think her show is any better than this one....

this show portrays the reality that even in todays modern world, girls go through this. Each and every day...parents pine for the birth of a son...its wrong and dirty but unfortunately it is the truth.

i agree with you that it is wrong for a man to remarry just to give birth to a son...but that doesnt make the show wrong.....in Kkusum, didnt Abhay sleep with Mahi b/c kkusum was told she couldnt have children..since when is this totally different..i mean Savtri was told she couldnt have children....im not saying its right..its not...but Ekta's shows are no better than this.....

Karam Apna Apna has got to take the cake in the female lead not botherin to stand up for herself.

in this day and age it does seem regressive to see daughters getting discriminated but

1. one fact is that this show already took the leap in 3rd episode so that means the views garodia family had are at least 19-20 yrs old which was pretty common in india that time.

2. it still happens in many parts of india. sons are considered 'ghar ka waris' and daughters as 'paraya dhan'. in future episodes this show will prove that wrong.

3. ekta serials and respect to woman??? they don't belong in one sentence.

Just because the truth hurts.........it shouldn't be locked away!

I'm not disgusted at the fact that they're showing daughters to be treated in such a bad way - in fact I'm happy!

I'm totally against inequality of any kind, and this is one that has been running for centuries!

It was horrible to hear about the second marriage for a son........but it wasn't far from the truth!

i watch ekta's shows...n i think everyone who watches indian television has or will watch atleast one of her shows!!
i wont comment on betiyaan coz i have never actually watched the show but ekta n respect for woman??? umm doesnt match!!
her shows have shown disrespect for woman to the height but just sugarcoats it with glitz n glamour!
kumud: fell in love with ksitij....carried his baby b4 maariage(i wonder where all her gr8 mom's sanskars went wen she did tht 😕 ) then ksitij conveniently tossed her over to another guy coz he thought he was dying n dint bother to ask her what she wants or giving her any explanation making her feel cheated and ashamed of sleeping with a man who doesnt care about her...then she marries garv and falls in love with him n then the baby dies n she is divorced with garv n then she marries ksitij but hey now she loves garv!!

i can state countless occasions where the woman is tossed around with various guys and she ends up loving on emarrying other and having the child of the first one!! girls r raped frequently by their lover's brothers and they end up loving them eventually but then they get seperated with them n then finally r with their original lover (kaajal-kdmh)(nandini-kksbkbt)
