Kartik Sabrawal denies strangling co-star

Kartik Sabrawal, who plays Bhavishya in the Zee show Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan, has rubbished that he almost strangled his co-actor and on-screen mother actress Natasha Rana during a scene.

It has been learnt that for one particular scene, Kartik had almost strangled her accidentally. There were also reports that a doctor had to be called in to treat her.

When we contacted the actor for a clarification on the matter, he said, "Why would I do this and that too in front of the camera? If I would have strangled her, she would have been dead. But she was absolutely fine."

"No doctor was called and she was acting very enthusiastically," he added.

Explaining the scene in question, the actor who is playing a psycho character in the serial said, "Bhavishya thinks that his wife Saraswati is his ex-girlfriend and so gifts her a necklace. But his mother stops him and in anger Bhavishya catches her neck. That's it. All stories about me strangling my on-screen mother are baseless."

Kartik terms the whole controversy as a anti-publicity stunt. "Seems like somebody wants to spoil my image. Anyways, in the serial, I'm playing a characterless guy. I don't want to comment on who has done this. I'm doing my work and, if the serial is not doing well, it's not my problem," the actor signed off.

Kartik, who plays Bhavishya in Zee TV's Ghar ki Lakshmi Betiyann had a bleeding nose to take care of. All thanks to his co-actor Romit Raj (Yuvraj) who got carried away during the shoot and punched him really hard. Romit's dream came true when he got to punch Kartik who physically abuses Saraswati (Kshitee Jog), his sister in the serial.

Romit had been itching to hit Kartik as the mere thought of someone hurting his screen sister was intolerable. So finally when the scene came, Romit, who had a secret desire to teach him a lesson, hit Kartik so badly that his nose started bleeding. The poor chap was speechless and Romit himself was taken aback by the intensity of the punch.

Kshitee Jog from Ghar ki Lakshmi Betiyaan is getting married for the third time in the serial and that too, to a different person altogether. The actress is fed up of her character getting married for the third time in the same serial. The fact that is making her even more upset is that every time she gets married she has to wear the heavy make up and costumes, which are a menace in the sweltering heat of Mumbai.

The poor girl has developed rashes due to the jutting wires of the jewellery and the thick layers of foundation. On top of this her grand mom has gone superstitious and has asked her to stop getting married on screen so many times because it will eventually hamper her chances of getting married in real life.

dabba@work

What's in your dabba today?
Chicken, cucumber, tomato and onion salad, sprouts and a boiled egg.

What do you love to see in your dabba?
Roast Chicken.

What do you cringe to see in your dabba?
Rice.

Who packs your dabba?
My help, Naresh.

Nutritionist Shobha Rajgopal suggests:

Kartik can either add egg whites or low-fat yoghurt to his salad.

The boiled egg can be avoided.

A bowl of vegetable soup will make his meal more substantial.

Yatin Karyekar gets emotional

Yatin Karyekar, who plays Suryakant Garodia, the narrow minded father in Ghar Ki Lakshmi – Betiyaan, and his mother Jyotsana Karyekar, who plays the role of Mithi Ba in Zee TV's Teen Bahuraaniyaan, performed a scene on the latter's show. Click to listen full interview:

The two got so emotionally touched by the scene that they were acting out together, that they both started crying.

That's not all, the whole atmosphere got so emotionally charged that even the serial's director Swapna Joshi couldn't control her tears. Further, the entire unit was so involved that they had to stop shooting to regain composure.

"My mom and I have not done a sequence together after Shanti, which was 12 years ago. In this serial I play Suryakant and my mother on the show Gaytridevi had come to meet Mithibaa (my mom in real life) to solve a problem and to state the importance of the joint family. I had just this one emotional scene with my mother. When the director cried, it felt as good as winning an acting award," said a visibly moved Yatin.

Yatin also stated that emotional scenes were not new to him. "In the film Munnabhai M.B.B.S. too there were many such touching moments."

His mother Jyotsana Karyekar was not available for the comment.

Twinkle Bajpai: Living the luxurious dream

Twinkle Bajpai aka Lakshmi Goradia from Betiyaan fulfilled her long cherished dream when she recently bought a brand new Honda City. It is her most precious possession ever. We congratulated her on her swanky car and she shared her joy with us.

"Everyone craves for luxury and the joy grows manifold if it comes from one's own hard-earned money. It was almost two years back when I decided to buy a new Honda City. Before arriving in Mumbai, I had always wanted to buy a sliver Honda City. My parents also shared my dream and finally, after all this time, it has come true."

The excited Twinkle further said that it was all the more thrilling because the car was delivered on the sets of Betiyaan in Andheri, Mumbai when she was shooting. Believing that it was a good omen, the Puja for the new purchase was performed on the sets itself. "It was my good luck that my co-actors Tanushree ji, who is like my second mom and Rohini ji, who plays Dadi in the serial performed the puja. Tanushree ji broke the coconut in front of my car, so basically she inaugurated the car. After that we went for a short drive around the studio."

"Did you take your parents for a drive?" Pat came the reply, "Yes, how can I forget that? They are the most important people in my life. So we went for a short drive from my residence to the local temple. I still can't believe that in such a short time, I made enough money to be able to afford this superb car…"

In the parting question, we asked her if the audience should expect any twist in Lakshmi's life after Satyakam's death. She informed, "Although a new man has entered her life, Lakshmi is still mourning the death of Satyakam. The suspense to watch out for is how the happy-go-lucky Karan manages to dissolve all her pain and make her fall in love with life and him."

Pavitra causes rift in the Goradia family

In Zee's Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan the Goradia family is being divided into groups - all the four daughters and their mother Savitri are against Pavitra (daughter-in-law of Suryakant Goradia) and there is going to be a massive conflict in the family since they come to know that Pavitra is a prostitute and her real name is Kajri.

We tried to find out when Suryakant will come to know the truth about Pavitra.
The script writer Damini said, "Suryakant will not come to know of the truth immediately but in the process there will be a dispute among the Goradia family. This will continue for about a month and later it will be the track of the mystery man, then Bhavishya's track will begin. Savitri will interrupt Suryakant from signing the property papers as she will demand an equal share in the property for her daughters. Pavitra will try to bring Maneka against Savitri as she will be saying that she is taking revenge by bringing up the issue of property."

We asked Suryakant Goradia (Yatin Karyekar) what action he would take. "Suryakant is a man of principles and he won't tolerate that his daughter-in-law is a prostitute and whoever knows this will have to leave the house. But, as of now I haven't received such a script. Now, my on-screen daughters will try to tell me the truth of Pavitra."

And Romit almost broke his wrist
Romit Raj who's doing two serials, Maayka and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan, almost broke his wrist while shooting a crucial scene on the sets of the former. The intense sequence where he was to hit the wall in frustration, got him so involved that he ended up hurting his wrist in the process. Though he was in a lot of pain he did not stop shooting. He just popped some pain-relieving pills and continued to face the camera. That certainly impressed director Rakesh Malhotra...

Ghar Ki Lakshmi gets a Jassi look
Twinkle Bajpai aka Lakshmi in Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan was dressed up like Jassi for a small scene in her soap. It was a completely different experience for her. "It was not exactly the same look as Jassi. I was dressed like that as Lakshmi and Kshitij had to go in disguise to find out the reality of Pavitra as all the four sisters had come to know about her true colours. I enjoyed this look but at the same time my director and co-actors were teasing me on the sets and kept making fun of me. But in the end it was real fun," says Twinkle.
Whatever you say Twinkle…fun or not, but one thing is very clear ki Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin!
