Romit Raj goes on hunger strike!

Romit Raj sure knows how to get into the skin of a character. For his serial Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan on Zee in which he plays Yuvraj, he did not eat anything for 12 hours just because the script read that he had to be on hunger strike to convince his bapuji to forgive him.

Describing the unique experience he says, "It's strange that I did not eat anything for such a long time. I was so involved in that scene, I just did not feeling like eating anything. My director was very happy with my dedication. After it was over, I was really surprised at how I managed to control my hunger for 12 hours!"

Expectedly Romit pounced onto food once he finished his reel-cum-real life hunger strike. "I ate pizzas and burgars and more than made up for it. But those 12 hours were very crucial. Thank God I did not faint."

Romit also gave a hint about the forthcoming track in the serial. "Till date Yuvraj has been successful in hiding Kajari's truth (she is a prostitute) from his family. But Lakshmi along with her sister and Karan make a plan to trap him."

Romit was not willing to disclose how the events will unfold.

Apart from Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan, Romit is also doing Maayka on Zee.

A rude Yuvraj reduces Rohini Hattangadi to tears

New entrant Yuvraj Malhotra, who plays Karan in 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan' (Zee), has been gaining ill repute for his alleged arrogance on the sets.

Recently, the actor had supposedly slit his wrist on after a showdown with co-star Twinkle Bajpai (plays Lakshmi) putting the unit in a difficult situation.

A source in the production house says, "Yuvraj is full of himself. He is rude and disrespectful towards his co-stars." Apparently, even the senior actors have not been spared from his impolite behaviour.

A unit member reveals, "A few days back, Rohiniji (Hattangadi, plays Ba) gave Yuvraj a few suggestions for a scene. He didn't like that and rudely told her to let him be. Rohiniji couldn't bear the humiliation and started crying."

Subsequently, the actors refused to shoot until Yuvraj publicly apologised to Rohini.
Another source adds, "Yuvraj apoligised to Rohiniji. But it was forced because he didn't feel apologetic at all. Yuvraj then bought a cake with 'Sorry' written on it. The unit resumed shooting after the cake was cut."

Yuvraj says, "When Rohiniji gave me suggestions, I said 'okay'. But she took it in a different sense. I didn't mean to hurt her. In fact, I am open to suggestions."
When contacted, Rohini denied being humiliated by Yuvraj. She says, "I don't think he was rude to me."

Twinkle faints on the sets

Twinkle Bajpai who plays Lakshmi in 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan' (Zee) fainted on the sets recently throwing everyone in a tizzy. Twinkle says, "My resistance against illness has always been low. I was not keeping too well particularly in the last few days. I had been eating out a lot. I was also shooting for a rain sequence which required me to be wet for long hours. I had got cold and I was shivering. All this took a toll on my body and I fainted."

Twinkle adds, "Fortunately I didn't hurt myself because my co-star Yuvraj Malhotra saved me from falling on the ground. Later, a doctor diagnosed that I have an infected my liver. He had advised me bed rest but since we were shooting for important scenes it wasn't possible."

Twinkle shares that despite her ill health, she fasts on all Mondays during the holy month of Shravan. "I am a Brahmin and a very religious one. I used to attend all poojas with my father. I have been fasting since the age of six years. Although earlier I used to do it for scoring good marks in exams, now I do it more out of devotion for Shivji," she says.

Apart from the serial, Twinkle sings at various shows across the globe.

Wristy Love!!



Twinkle Bajpai, who plays Lakshmi in Zee TV show Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan, and Yuvraj Malhotra playing Karan in the serial were dating each other for quite some time but somehow the relationship could not work. But this fact could not be tolerated by the boy and he cut his wrist in the van throwing the whole unit into tizzy as the show does not have any episode bank and for the sake of continuity his presence was important. Fortunately, the wound was not deep and the actor came prepared on the sets after getting first aid.

As a source present on the set reveals, ' Both Yuvraj and Twinkle seemed really happy until Twinkle received a call from Yuvraj's ex-girlfriend. Twinkle was totally put off and she stopped talking to Yuvraj after that. Though Yuvraj tried to convince her many times, Twinkle refused to talk to him. Later, they had a big fight on the sets. Soon after, Yuvraj went to the make up room and slashed his wrist. Thankfully, crew members spotted him and took away the blade. And thankfully again it was not too late.'

Now, the production house is said to be unhappy with the unprofessional behaviour on the sets as any serious accident would have serious repercussions on the continuity of the serial.

Ghar Ki Lakshmi gets a Jassi look
Twinkle Bajpai aka Lakshmi in Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan was dressed up like Jassi for a small scene in her soap. It was a completely different experience for her. "It was not exactly the same look as Jassi. I was dressed like that as Lakshmi and Kshitij had to go in disguise to find out the reality of Pavitra as all the four sisters had come to know about her true colours. I enjoyed this look but at the same time my director and co-actors were teasing me on the sets and kept making fun of me. But in the end it was real fun," says Twinkle.
Whatever you say Twinkle…fun or not, but one thing is very clear ki Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin!

This Yuvraj did not slash his wrist

Yuvraj Malhotra, who plays Karan in the Zee show Betiyaan, is amazed with reports that he slashed his wrist following an on-set altercation with co-star Twinkle Bajpai.


"What! I slashed my wrist? Why I will do it? Twinkle and I share a very good on-screen chemistry and there are no issues between us," was a dumbfounded Yuvraj's reaction.

An equally stunned Twinkle (Lakshmi) tried to clear the air. "There was definitely some misunderstanding. Actually, there was a scene in the show in which my on-screen brother Romit Raj (whose name incidentally is also Yuvraj) slashes his wrist and somebody misreported it."

Twinkle also denied reports that she and Yuvraj don't get along with each other. "I'm very comfortable working with Yuvraj. It has been only a month since we have been shooting together but he is a very sweet co-actor."

The reactions from the Production house were also similar. Mandar, Executive Producer of the show questions, "Why would we do negative publicity of our serial? We don't have any difficulties with our actors. Though Yuvraj has to learn lot as far as acting is concerned, there was no wrist-slashing or anything like that."

People are mistaking TV actor Romit Raj for fellow actor Sharad Malhotra, because the two look quite similar.

Romit Raj's facing an identity crisis, thanks to actor and friend Sharad Malhotra. The two look quite similar, at least from some angles, and this has caused confusion.

Some time ago, Romit was flooded with SMSes and calls from friends and family congratulating him for entering the serial Banoo Mein Teri Dulhan . The actor was stumped, because he hadn't signed the serial.

"First, I thought someone was pulling a prank and I just laughed it off. But then more people called me. I was wondering what this was all about. But then, while passing one of the hoardings, I realised that people are mistaking Sharad for me," he laughs.

The actors, who are also friends, had a good laugh over the confusion. "I've known Sharad ever since I was living in Kolkata. He's like my kid brother. When I told him about the confusion, he couldn't stop laughing," says Romit.

So has such confusion happened earlier too? "Not really. I think, in this particular picture, we did look similar," he says.

On the work front, Romit is now playing the mean Yuvraj in Ghar Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan and the charming Karan in Maayka .

He says, "I love it. Very few actors on TV get an opportunity to play a negative as well as a positive character at the same time. Most actors play a negative character for two-three years and then move towards a positive character and vice versa. As for me, I am a charming guy at 8.30 pm and a mean guy at 10.30 pm!" he laughs. Luckily for Romit, since both the serials are of the same production house, he is not over-worked. "They adjust my dates and let me know when I am needed to shoot. It's working out great," he says

The unit of 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan' (Zee) has recently witnessed a few coincidences. Actor Romit Raj plays the role of Yuvraj in the serial. Coincidentally, an actor called Yuvraj Malhotra joined the cast to play the role of Karan! Romit says,

"That has added to some confusion on the sets. When the director gives me instructions, Yuvraj begins executing them!" A unit member reveals that a photographer on the sets and a staff from the costume department are also called Yuvraj.



Another coincidence that occurred was when Romit was required to slash his wrist for a scene. Interestingly, a few days ago, actor Yuvraj Malhotra too had allegedly slashed his wrist on the sets. While Romit was merely playing his part, Yuvraj allegedly did that to evoke co-star Twinkle Bajpai's attention.

Romit prefers not to comment on Yuvraj's act though he shares his experience of shooting the scene. He says, "I almost cut my wrist while shooting for the scene. The knife we used was a real grass cutter and had a 12 inch long sharp blade. I was quite tensed whilst shooting." Romit adds, "We shot this scene for over three days in the rains. At the end of it, I got fever. But the effort was worth it." The wrist-slashing episode will be telecast tonight.

Yuvraj faces the wrath of a fan!

Romit Raj plays a negative character Yuvraj in Zee TV's prime time show Betiyaan. His character is portrayed as a son who marries a prostitute against the family's wishes. As the truth about his wife is unveiled the entire family has now turned against him. But it's not just his on-screen family that has turned against Romit, even his viewers are not happy with him. And Romit got a taste of their displeasure recently when the actor was shopping at Inifniti Mall in suburban Mumbai. An aged lady came forward and scolded him very badly in front of everyone.

"It was two days back when I was shopping at the mall, a lady came and told me off in Hindi. She said 'why are you so bad, you have ditched your family who used to love you so much and why have you married a prostitute?' If the same mistake was committed by my own son I would have killed him or I would have given him to police'," says Romit.



The actor was shocked but at the same time he says he is also quite pleased to see the reaction that his character is receiving. "I was stunned to hear how can one do this but as an actor I am happy as it means my role is being appreciated. Earlier I was not comfortable but my creative director told me that your character will be liked by the viewers."

The actor adds that even his mother doesn't appreciate the character of Yuvraj as he receives a thrashing from his on-screen father. "But I always tell to my mom that I'm playing good boy in Maayka so I guess it's ok if I play a bad character in Betiyaan."

Currently Romit's on screen character has slashed his wrist to show his defiance and all the viewers are now waiting to see whether Yuvraj will die or end up creating more trouble in the future for his family.
