every detail of the wedding was written really clearly...

about lagging..
I don't think so.. The story is moving at a steady pace..
Just go with the flow.. Do not try to fasten the process..
It will affect the story badly.. it will lose it's charm if you try breaking the flow & try going fast forward..
Regarding wedding.. It did require an entire chapter..
As it is not a simple wedding.. It's the wedding of Khuranas elder son, it had to be elaborate.. Plus their rituals would be a bit different from our times..
So it was required to show it..
