Chapter 6"We think only you can help us. Humein aap se zaroori baat karni hai." Saying so, maan was observing professor keenly.
"Alright, mera ghar paas mei hai. Hum log wahi chal ke araam se baat karte hain." Vikram said while gathering his accessories and the boys followed him outside.
A while later:
The three men were seated around a study table. Sheets, diagrams and reference material was spread upon the polished mahogany table. Holding mugs of steaming coffee in their hands, the boys were waiting for the professor to speak.
Observing the picture carefully, Vikram said, "This is fantastic. Absolutely incredible. Maine apni poori zindagi mei itni saaf , itni clear tasveer nahi dekhi kisi aatma ki. Tum logo ki baat bilkul sahi thi. Ye ek aatma hi hai. Ek aurat ki aatma. Aur ye aatma Mr. Maan, tumhari aur Geet ki zindagi ke saath jud gayi hai. Par kaise judi hui hai, uska pata lagana padega.
"Par ye aatma Geet aur Maan ke hi pichhe kyu padi hai? Inn dono ki koi galati nahi hai. Then why is the spirit tormenting them?" Adi blurted out unable to control himself.
"Actually yaha par galati ka sawaal nahi hai. Ye aatma bas ek mauka dhoond rahi thi. Aur shaayad isse mauka mil bhi gaya. Mujhe batao ki tum Geet se mile, tab se lekar ab tak kya ky huwa thaa. Tell me everything."
Maan narrated everything to Professor Vikram, occasionally with some help from Adi. As he stopped at the curse incident, Vikram became quite still. He was looking intently at the boys.
"Kya huwa Professor sahab, aap humei aise kyu dekh rahe hain?" Adi questioned him. Then Vikram replied, "Ab meri samajh mei aaya, ki wo aatma in dono ka peechha kyu kar rahi hai."
"Guys, shayad tum dono ko maalum nahi, par jab kisi insaan ko koi shraap diya jaata hai, to wo lambe samay tak chalta hai. Aur iske peechhey ek kaaran hai.
Jab koi shraap kisi ko diya jaata hai, to wo shraap ek buri aatma ke saath jud jata hai. Like in this case. This evil spirit is the keeper of this curse. Ye aatma saari duniya mei is shraap ke saath bhatakti rahegi. Shayad tab tak, jab tak ki duniya khatam nahi ho jaati.
Shraap dene wala, aur us shraap ko paane wala, dono log to samay ke saath chale jaate hai. Maut ki gehri neend mei so jaate hain. Magar ye shraap zinda rehta hai. Ek peedhi se doosri peedhi, doosri se teesri peedhi. Shraap sadiyon tak chalta hi rehta hai. Jiske chalte us parivaar ki aage ki pidhiyon par uska asar bana rehta hai. Aur ye hota kaise hai?"
Taking a deep breath, Maan said, "Kyun ki, shraap ko pehli peedhi se agli generation tak pahuchane ka kaam, wo buri aatma hi karti hai."
"Clever boy, said Vikram. Ab jo ki shraap har peedhi tak chalta rehta hai, to uss shraap ko hamesha ke liye khatam kaise kiya jaye?"
"Shraap ko khatam karne ke liye, us buri aatma ko dhoond kar khatam karna hoga, jiske saath wo shraap juda hua hai." Maan retorted again, all the while looking at the professor with hopeful eyes.
"Clever again, said Vikram. "To kya hum pata laga sakte hai ki ye shraap kis aatma ke saath juda hua hai?" Adi asked eagerly.
"Mushkil hai pata lagana, par namumkin nahi. Lekin itna mushkil hai, ki namumkin ke barabar hai."
"Par koi to tareeka hoga us aatma ko dhoondhne ka. Aakhir Geet aur meri zindagi ka sawaal hai. Hum log isi liye to aap ke paas aaye hai."
"Dekho Mr. Khurana, jin dushmano ko hum dekh sakte hai, unse ulajhna aur unka muqabla karna alag baat hai. Lekin jis dushman ko aap dekh nahi sakte, uska muqabla, uska saamna kaise karoge?
Ye aatma ka chakkar koi mazaak nahi hai. Agar is poore khel ke dauran tumhe kuch hogaya, to main khud ko zindagi bhar maaf nahi kar paunga. Main apne haath kisi masoom ke khoon se rangna nahi chahta.
Look lover boy, tumhara apna parivaar hai. So ye aatma waatma ka chakkar chhod do. Apni us girlfriend ko bhool jao, aur apne ghar jaakar parivaar ke saath khush raho.
"Lekin main geet se pyaar karta hoon. I can't leave her like this. Main us aatma se zaroor ladunga. Aap sirf itna bataiye, ki aap mera saath denge ya nahi!"
Maan was determined and adamant now. He wanted to destroy the spirit and win his love by hook or crook.
"Raat ko 12 baje ke baad agar main tum ko shamshaan mei jane ke liye kahoonga na, to darr ke maare jaan nikal jayegi tumhari. Aur tum seedhe-seedhe is aatma se ulajhna chahte ho? Is maut ke khel se dur raho. Meri baat maan lo. Ye jitna dikhta hai, utna aasaan nahi hai." Vikram tried to reason with the stubborn young man.
"Aap agar humari madad nahi kar sakte, to shaayad hum logo ko apni madad khud hi karni padegi. Hum log aapse salah nahi, help maangne aaye thay. PAr shaayad hum log galat insaan se ummed lagaye baithe thay. We are sorry for wasting your time. Goodbye."
Saying so maan stormed out of the house holding Adi's hand. The professor was standing quietly, looking at their backs. He wasn't sure what to say. But hoped the boys would understand his view and try to accept it.
Meanwhile, Geet's condition was not good. She did not cry or throw tantrums, but her chirpy nature and smile were missing. She had turned silent and would spend her time in the office. Otherwise she would help her mom with the social activities and clubhouse events.
She would meet the khurana family regularly. Occasionally catching a glimpse of Maan, she would satisfy herself temporarily. But Rano knew her baby was disturbed.
She was a mother and wanted her child to be happy. She wanted geet to get all the happiness and bliss. She looked up and closing her eyes softly, conveyed a silent prayer to Babaji. She hoped Maaneet would come together soon. She just wanted a miracle to happen. One that would change their lives forever.
But would it go that way? Will the miracle truly happen? Will maan convince Professor Vikram to help him? Please stay tuned and spew more and more comments to find out.
