Chapter 47

"Have you thought of anything for dadima?" Maan questioned Geet.

"I don't know" she shrugged. "I can only think of a saree, dadima doesn't wear any jewellery, she hasn't said anything of liking something or wanting anything"

"Hmm" Maan agreed nodding in response. "We can go shopping if you'd like" he suggested since they had quite a couple of hours till the evening party.

"Oh, okay" she smiled liking the fact that he'd suggested this; it'd also allow them some time together before the party.

They were interrupted with a knock on their door, Maan called out smiling when dadima walked in, she placed two boxes on their beds and turned to them.

"This evening's clothes, just wear them now. Aur haan will you both change for the dance or wear the same?" she questioned taking a seat beside Geet looking between them both.

"No photos or cameras dadima" Maan spoke.

"Haan baba" she sighed. "No cameras" she rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't want to give everyone a heart attack knowing that Maan Singh Khurana has danced"

Geet giggled looking away quickly when Maan turned his eyes on her.

"I don't understand why we even have to dance" he complained. "I don't want to be parading in front of everyone" he added.

"Maan aapne promise ki hai" she replied.

"It's only them lot right?"

"Yes Maan, it's only Family" dadima emphasized on the word.

"Oh please" he scoffed.

"Whether you like it or not bete, they're still family" she turned to Geet. "Aap change karenge?"

"Um, ji. The saree you chose is kind of a little too heavy. I chose a different with Amelia when I'd gone again. You don't mind me changing? I know it's a... khandaani attire but..."

"Nahi bete I don't mind" Dadima patted her cheek lovingly. "If you're comfortable then it's fine. Bas mehmaan ke liye woh..."

"Janti hoon dadima. I don't mind wearing it" she replied pecking her cheek. "It's a beautiful saree" she smiled.

"I'm not changing" Maan informed when dadima turned her attention to him.

"It's really no surprise" she rolled her eyes.

"I'll change when we return"

"Where from?" She frowned. "Ghar mein sab..."

"Dadima we're just going to do a little shopping" Geet placed her hand over dadima's forearm gently explaining. "Sab kal chale jayenge toh maine socha ke sab ke liye kuch lena chahiye na?"

Maan raised his brows at his wife questioning her silently, she blushed keeping her eyes averted and focused on dadima.

Dadima agreed. "Maan ne toh yeh nahi socha hoga" she replied taunting him.

"Urgh please" he stood up in distaste excusing himself and walked out answering his phone which continued to ring.

Maan walked back in and found Dadima had left, he grasped Geet's arm just as she was about to walk out the room as well.

"Ji?" she looked back over her shoulder.

"Shopping for everyone?" he questioned lifting his brows.

"It's going to look bad na if they go empty handed" she responded innocently pouting her lips. "They're going to speak about dadima..." she trailed.

"I'm not going to do any shopping for them" Maan replied shaking his head.

"Teek hai" she nodded. "Main kar lungi, aap mujhe company de sakte hai" she winked, Maan stared in surprise at his wife who was now walking away having released herself from his grasp.

He chuckled inwardly smiling to himself shaking his head at his wife.

Maan stood in the hall waiting for Geet, she'd been in their room for over an hour on the excuse of getting ready, her friends had swarmed in with their girly gang wanting to help her. He had been in their room for the last couple of hours working away whilst Geet had been downstairs mixing up with everyone else alongside with her friends and dadima. Since it was late afternoon he'd called her and asked her to get ready to go shopping in which she'd informed him she had to change out of her dress into the golden saree dadima had chosen for this evening since there were a few people dadima wanted to introduce. Maan agreed only hoping once he talked to dadima she'd allow them to leave as soon as Geet joins him.

"Vikrant" he called seeing his brother lying down so comfortably on the sofa.

"Yeah bhai" Vikrant replied lazily opening one eye.

"Get up and get over here" Maan scowled.

"What is it? I'm tired" he yawned slowly taking his time getting up.

"I'll show you tired when I come over and break that jaw of yours" Maan retorted sharply.

"What the hell" Vikrant frowned sitting up looking up at his brother like a petulant child.

"No one would think you're married with that face" Karan blurted out.

"Married?" Maan turned his head to Karan then looked back at his younger brother.

"Uh I meant getting married" Karan corrected quickly.

Maan looked between them both for a moment gauging their expressions, his attention turned to his wife as she came down the stairs. Vikrant glared angrily at Karan who shrugged innocently.

"Wow..." Vikrant muttered coming to stand beside his brother.

"Hmm..." Karan nodded, Maan frowned looking at his hopeless brothers shaking his head.

"If you're both done perving, then do you mind" Maan nudged them away going over to dadima.

"When can we leave?" he asked her as he took her away from the circle of women.

"At least an hour Maan. I want to introduce Geet and familiarize her with the rest of the family who've arrived this morning only" Dadima replied. "You're going to be there with her right?" she stared at him hopefully.

"Fine dadima, only an hour then we're going. We'll be back a couple of hours before evening party starts" he responded.

"Teek hai" Dadima agreed reluctantly. She waved over to Geet who walked towards her standing beside Maan, dadima then introduced Geet to the rest of the family who'd only heard of their bahu but hadn't seen her. Maan looked around feeling bored, Geet had caught him yawning and tapping away on his phone since he found that more interesting.

"C'mon" Maan held her forearm.

"Ji?"

"It's been over an hour Geet, dadima said we only have to stay for an hour" he replied gesturing her to the front door.

"Par..."

"You wanted to go shopping right?" he reminded.

"Haan lekin dadim..."

"Believe me dadima knows. Chalo bhi. Tum kya inn logoun ke beech..." he trailed lowering his head. "Last time I checked you were 19, unless you're getting old" he teased.

"Aap se shaadi ki hai, I must've got a few grey hairs" she giggled.

"Geet" Maan stared at her in disbelief, Geet gasped realizing what she has just said, she looked away hurrying out the door, Maan shook his head chuckling softly, he cleared his throat when he noticed a few turned their heads. He walked out and found Geet shifting uncomfortably as she waited by the car. Geet stepped backwards finding Maan standing almost so close to her, she dipped her eyes slowly closing them when she felt Maan's lips pressed against her cheek, her chest heaved heavily, her cheeks grew hot and her heart was pounding faster and faster.

"You're..." Maan looked down at her as she cowered backward shyly blushing furiously, he brushed away her wayward curls from her face. "You gave me hope Geet"

She looked up at him abruptly in surprise swallowing thickly.

"I... I once wished you'd... you'd joke and talk to me... like you do with Vikrant and... your friends... today you did" he slowly revealed, his eyes averted from hers. He felt foolish and... he didn't know what had come over him to tell her this. But he wanted her to know.

She tiptoed close pressing her cheek to his. "I... I wanted the same as well" she tentatively turned her head pressing a gentle peck to his cheek.

"Yeh aapke liye" Geet held out a present which she'd bought when he wasn't looking.

"What is it?" he questioned as he unwrapped the paper slowly, Geet shifted on her feet wishing she'd exchanged it and hadn't listened to Amelia. He blinked in surprise when he saw the framed picture reading the small italic words printed underneath. Smile

"Geet" Maan furrowed his brows staring down at it for a brief moment, she chewed her lower lip nervously sighing in relief when he looked at her with a small smirk then started laughing. She giggled unable to hold back, her smile widening even more.

"That's quite... interesting" Maan spoke.

"I... I was going to choose something else but Amelia said... you never smile so I got this" she explained with a small shrug.

Ah Amelia. She'd only come up with suggestions like this. Maan thought to himself but didn't voice them out not wanting to hurt his wife in any way. "It's... nice" I think. He looked at the picture of the goofy smiling monkey and smiled. It was interesting for sure though.

Geet chuckled dipping her eyes down, they were interrupted when Vikrant walked in.

"Bhai dadima is calling you both down, sab aagaye hai" he informed.

Maan bit back his groan of displeasure nodding stoically, "Alright"

"Bhabhi c'mon" He held out his arm for Geet.

"Why don't you cling onto your wife?" Karan walked in blurting out the words.

"Girlfriend" Geet corrected chuckling. "I don't know why you keep calling her wife" she looked at Vikrant. "Dadima se keh doon ke tum dono ke sagai...?"

"Sagai kya bhabhi? Shaadi kara do" Vikrant cut her off eagerly. "Oh God! The day I marry her... I can't wait" he sighed.

Geet laughed shaking her head at him.

"Hogaya?" Maan looked between them all.

Geet quietened closing her lips trying to bite back the smile that was almost playing on her lips, Vikrant and Karan shook their heads smirking and walked out with both Geet and Maan following closely.

Chapter 48

Heads turned as they saw Geet and Maan come down together, dadima along with their family circled around them wishing them a very happy anniversary. Geet hugged her friends, thanking their family, even taking the blessings whereas Maan stood in his place nodding his head inwardly rolling his eyes at their fake happiness for his wife and himself. They could be pretending with this act so they'd butter up his dadima enough to get her to give money away as if they were in need of it.

"Looking forward to the dance?" Karan asked turning his head to Maan as the crowd moved away taking Geet along with them.

"What?" Maan looked at him momentarily forgetting the promise he'd made to dadima 8 weeks ago.

"The dance you and bhabhi practised for? You remember it right?"

"Oh" Maan looked around then straight at Geet who was conversing with her friends and their family. "I'm not going to do it" he muttered.

"Why? You practised for it like for..."

"I know" Maan cut him off. What I hadn't expected was everyone here especially when we'd only practised alone.

"Maan bete" he was interrupted when he felt someone call him, he turned and saw Geet's mother coming towards him.

"Um... ji?" he looked at her unsurely.

"Yeh tumhare liye hai, sirf chota hai par main jo kuch bhi dungi woh Geet ke khushi ke aage chota hoga kyun ke... agar aaj meri beti khush hai woh tumhare aur maaji ke waje se" she held out a taweez. "Yeh... taweez tumhe aur Geet ko protect karega"

Maan nodded graciously taking the taweez she held out for him, bending down and taking her blessings, he wasn't going to upset her especially when she'd genuinely cared for him and his wife, not to forget this was the woman who brought up Geet up lovingly.

Geet happened to notice the exchange, she excused herself moving towards her mother looking at Maan uncertainly for a moment, she sighed in relief when he smiled a little, he looked at her for a moment before taking the chain and slipping it on making Geet's mother beam so happily.

"It's really nice aunty" Maan mumbled tucking the taweez properly. "Thank you"

She nodded smiling.

"Bhabhi can we cut the cake?" Vikrant intervened cutting in between them. "I'm feeling hungry" he looked at her hopefully.

"Vikrant sab abhi sirf aaye hai" Dadima walked over twisting his earlobe. "Don't you have something else to do?" she questioned sternly.

"Haan... bhabhi ko wish karna hai" he replied sarcastically. "Ow" he scowled when dadima twisted it harder.

"Alright dadima, I'll wish Grinch and my sweet bhabhi nicely" he responded, dadima released him pleased with his response which only made Maan frown.

"Excuse me?" he looked questioningly at dadima.

"Maan bete aap jante hai ke main aapko zyada pyar karti hoon"

"Oh really?" he shook his head at her.

"Anyways" Vikrant walked towards Geet throwing his arms out and enveloping Geet. "Happy anniversary bhabhi... I wish you many more anniversaries, hopefully next year it wouldn't be with Grinch here"

"Say that word once more, I'll drag you out of here and give you a response" Maan grit out.

"See dadima? Bhai isn't from this family. I mean who else talks like that" Vikrant pointed.

"Right that's i..." Maan paused just as he stepped forward feeling Geet holding his hand, she dipped her eyes releasing his hand nervously instead clutched the end of her pallu fidgeting with that instead.

He breathed out heavily, glaring at Vikrant who had cowered behind dadima.

"You wimp" Karan whispered from behind making Vikrant jerk. "How the hell are you going to be protecting Meera if someone was to gang up on her? Hide behind dadima and expect her to fight for her?" he raised his brows.

"No, I can fight anyone else. I don't see you winning against bhai" he muttered.

"I can win against Maan any day"

Really? Vikrant mused to himself. "Bhai, Karan wants a challenge after your anniversary. He says that he can protect bhabhi much more better than you" Vikrant blabbered.

Maan raised his brows in amusement at Karan who gaped with his widened eyes.

"Maan, Vikrant Karan" Dadima looked at them narrowing her eyes. "Aaj party hai, koi wrestling cage nahi hai. Maan aap aur Geet jaake wahan baitiye" she pointed. Amelia cut in between entwining her arm around Geet's excitedly.

"I'll take them dadima"

"Why are you dying to be in all the pictures?" Vikrant questioned.

"What pictures?" Maan asked without moving.

"We're going to get some pictures of everyone, I want something so we can remember this day" Dadima explained.

"It's going to be always there so why..."

"Maan" Dadima sighed.

"They're not going to be released anywhere right?" he questioned.

"Maan aap na?" Dadima huffed crossing her arms. "Hamesha yeh karte hai"

"Dadima I just..."

"Maan Khurana don't explain yourself, I'll always be in the wrong" she turned her head.

"Oh my God, why do I even bother talking?" Maan muttered, he caught Geet averting her eyes instantly when he noticed her giggle.

"Family only first" Vikrant walked over after a while gesturing Amelia to leave teasingly.

"Why you..." she ground out but was interrupted when Meera moved towards her.

"Amelia c'mon" Meera dragged Amelia to the side, Dadima called over Geet's mother and her aunt asking them to be Geet's side, whilst dadima stood in the middle with Maan by her side and Vikrant on the other side.

"Meers" Vikrant called.

"She's not family yet asshole" Amelia grit out crossing her arms. "And click the picture would you?" she snapped at the photographer. "They don't want their hips broken standing all day waiting for you"
"Calm down" Meera nudged her.

"I'm her sister, I should be there" she whispered. "Right? I'm her family"

Geet blushed when dadima announced that the next few should be only of herself with Maan after they'd clicked many with their family and friends, dadima stood near the photographer explaining how she wanted them captured.

"Maan bete..." Dadima gestured softly knowing he wouldn't exactly listen to her if she had voiced it loud for him and everyone else to listen. Maan shared a knowing look and stepped a little more closer to Geet who shied dipping her eyes down when she felt his arm slide around and rest his palm on the small of her back.

"You need to look at the camera Geet" Maan whispered noting her eyes were dipped down.

She bit down on her lower lip slowly lifting her gaze staring at him.

"Aapko bhi dekhna chahiye" she muttered shyly. Maan smirked inwardly looking away from her and at the cameraman, however he found looking at his wife was a much better sight than the man who stood before them with a camera.

Dadima smiled seeing their interaction, she sighed with a heavy heart feeling overwhelmed seeing the smile on Maan's lip even if no one else had noticed it, she knew he was smiling and he was content.

"Aren't you going to ask them to dance?" Karan questioned joining her side.

"Bete when have you gotten so dumb?" she responded making Karan frown.

"Dadima?" he raised his brows.

"You should know Karan, that Maan doesn't dance" she replied.

"But those lessons..."

"Maybe in the future" she laughed. "Bete Maan kabhi yeh nahi karenge, khaas kar in sab ke beech..." she shook her head. "Woh dance classes sirf Maan aur Geet ko kareeb lane ke liye..." she trailed winking at him cheekily.

"Wow" Karan muttered. And here I was thinking I'd just see him dance for the first time... "When did you get so clever dadima?" he teased.

"The day you lost half of your brain bete" Dadima replied smartly.

"Seriously dadima?" he frowned.

"Haan bete" she patted his cheek laughing as she walked away.

"Hi Araina" Ranbir smiled seeing her stand looking around.

"Uh... hi" she frowned in confusion wondering where she had seen him. "I'm sorry I can't remember who you..."

"Oh I'm Vikrant's best friend" Ranbir smiled holding out his hand. "Ranbir"

She smiled stretching her hand however someone else had shook Ranbir's hand.

"And that's Araina, my sister" Karan had noticed Ranbir walking up to Araina and dashed to her side instantly.

"Uh... Bhai jaan" Ranbir chuckled nervously trying to pull his hand back, Araina bit down on her lip seeing her brother glower down at Ranbir, she felt sorry for the guy but right now anything she said wouldn't be heard by her brother so she silently watched.

"When I say" Karan tightened his hold squeezing Ranbir's hand harder making him wince. "Stay away from my little sister I mean it" he pulled Ranbir close. "Stay the hell away from my sister or else next time I won't be squeezing your hand, I'll wrap my hands around that fat neck of yours and make sure I squeeze it hard enough to snap your neck and separate it from your body" he hissed.

"Ji... ji.. bhai.." Ranbir nodded swallowing hard. Karan released him watching him scurry away then turned to Araina.

"Stay away from him"

"What? I didn't do anything and he was sweet" she crossed her arms.

"Araina, I said stay away from that f**ker" he bit out. "I don't such guys near you, they only want thing from a girl"

"I'll go warn Meera as well, she should stay away from Vikrant right?"

"Vikrant isn't like Ranbir" Karan replied.

"Oh really how? Ranbir is his best friend" She scowled. "Just because he's our cousin doesn't mean you can defend him"

"He's married type" Karan blurted.

"Married?" she frowned.

"I mean marrying type" he waved off casually hoping she wasn't clever to guess but then she is his sister.

"OH MY DAYSS" She yelled garnering attention of those around her.

f**king hell, that voice... Karan thought as he grabbed her moving her to a corner.

"How? Like how? When?" She whispered sharply. "Why wasn't I here for? I kind of guessed I wouldn't witness Maan bhai's wedding but I wanted to see Vikrants... How dare he? Oh my days" she rattled.

"Shut the hell up" Karan shook her making her teeth almost clink together. "Get a grip. Do you want dadima to hang Vikrant? She'd be doing just that if she learns of their marriage"

"How? When?"

"I'll tell you everything, as long you don't open that gob of yours" he responded to which she nodded eagerly holding her pinky finger up promisingly.

"Amelia sahi keh rahi ti" Geet muttered softly to Maan.

"Matlab?" he stared questioningly.

"Aap smile nahi karte" she chuckled.

"Aisa nahi hai Geet. You need a reason to smile at least" he explained.

"You don't need a reason" she shook her head chuckling.

"Or else you'd end up like dorky clown" he replied.

Geet laughed at his choice of words, Maan stared at her momentarily smiling faintly before he looked away realizing what he was doing, Geet composed herself biting her cheeks to stop laughing but she couldn't help but grin. Her smile faltered when her stomach made a noise, Maan looked down then back at her before he looked down trying to keep himself from smiling, Geet blushed in embarrassment.

"Dono kitne khush hai" One of the aunts praised seeing Geet and Maan together whilst the others around them were engaged in small light conversations. "Ek saal hogaya hai" she looked at dadima and Rano. "Pata nahi kaise chala gaya" she chuckled.

"Haan ek saal hogaya hai par... Savitri bua koi khush khabri nahi aay..." Another spoke.

"Geet sirf unnees(19) saal ki huyi hai. Puri zindagi baaki hai" Dadima replied in a tight manner cutting her off as she eyed up her the distant relative. "Sab toh tumhare tarah nahi ho sakte na, do mahine huye nahi aur tum sab ko khush khabhri de diya ta na?"

Her lips thinned catching onto dadima's taunt, she rolled her eyes inwardly. "Dadima maine toh dikha diya ke main maa bann sakti hoon, kahin aapke bahu..."

Rano stepped back trying to leave with her sister in law, she didn't want to be responding rudely to the woman however she couldn't stay there and listen as her daughter was being talked of like this.

"Yeh kaise baat kar rahe hai" Mohini muttered.

"Kuch mat keh yahan, woh loug Geet ke rishtedaar hai. Hum ladki wale hai" Rano shook her head silencing her gently.

"Bas renuka" Dadima cut her off narrowing her eyes. "Party hai, bakwas mat karo" she whispered keeping her voice low however those words came out angrily.

"Dadima main sirf keh rahi hoon, ke ek saal hogaya hai, kahin bhabhi ko doctor ke..."

"Agar kuch accha nahi keh sakte toh kamre mein jaa sakte ho" Dadima cut her off curtly walking away from them and joined Rano's side.

"Dadima" Maan called her over just as she'd neared Rano, she excused herself from there and walked over.

"Haan bete"

"Dadima can we get the dinner on? I'm feeling a little hungry" he asked her.

"Teek hai bete" she smiled. "Hum sab dining hall pe chale jaate hai" she waved over Araina and Meera.

"Ji dadima?" Araina looked between them.

"Bete slowly move everyone to the dining hall, Amelia kahan hai?"

"Aur kahan?" Meera pointed where she was arguing with Karan over something, her finger close to his face as she argued waving her finger at him.

"Yeh dono bacche bhi na" Dadima shook her head. "Aaj dono ko dikhati hoon" she muttered telling Maan and Geet to head into the dining room.

"Seriously Vicky?" Meera caught him near the cake, her eyes drew down and noticed the cake had been cut and a piece was already gone.

"I swear it wasn't me" he straightened shaking his head.

"You're such a kid Vicky" Meera complained. "What the hell were you thinking? That's their anniversary cake you knob" she smacked his shoulder.

"Calm down" he held her hands. "That's not THE' cake, it's that one" he gestured to the 3 tier cream cake they'd ordered for Geet and Maan. "This is the spare one for kids since they might not like cream so ordered them this chocolate one"

"Still" she nudged him. "You're impossible sometimes"

"You still love me fatty" he grinned.

"You're such a knob head. God only knows who you're going to marry" she rolled her eyes.

"Hey" he frowned throwing his arm around her neck. "I'm only marrying you" he pulled her close pressing his forehead to hers. "Speaking of kids... you aren't pregnant are you? As far as I remember we never went all the way"

"Vikrant" She smacked his chest hard this time blushing. "You're... Forget kids, I won't ever marry you" she stormed off.

Darling you're already married to me he thought dreamily closing his eyes sighing in relief.

"Geet..." Maan held her wrist stopping her and gently pulled her aside into the dark lighting so they wouldn't be seen as visibly.

"Maan..." she stared at him nervously.

"Your... earring" he pointed. "It's loosened I think"

She touched her earring noting how loose it seemed, she hadn't realized till Maan had pointed it out, she quickly screwed it closed tightly shaking her head to test it almost forgetting Maan was there. She blushed seeing he was staring in amusement

"Woh its those screw types one na so I..."
"No need to explain Geet, I didn't ask for one" he replied. "C'mon let's go before you starve even more"

"Maan" she held his arm before he turned.

"Yeah?" he looked at her curiously.

"Thank you... um for before, I..."

"Geet it's okay" he smiled. "Chale?" he slowly brought her closer resting his hand on the small of her back, she shyly nodded and walked alongside him.

Chapter 49

Once everyone had their dinner, dadima suggested Maan and Geet to take their places at the stage so the others meaning Amelia, Meera, Vikrant, can start their performance which they had practised for, though Maan rolled his eyes inwardly he did as dadima asked taking a seat beside Geet. He was close to reaching his pocket for his phone when Geet grasped his wrist and he looked at her questioningly.

"They worked so hard on practising, the least we can do is watch na?" she whispered.

He sighed nodding his head, Geet smiled slowly releasing her grasp and placed her hands on her lap focusing on her friends as they started.

"So guys as we all know Maan jeeju and Geet ki shaadi arranged thi so we're just going to enact them" Amelia announced happily. "In a completely different way"

Maan frowned immediately turning to look at dadima, Vikrant and then turned to Geet.

"I... didn't know any of this" she mumbled shaking her head.

"You couldn't find anyone else to be friends with?" he questioned.

"I know ke Amelia thodi weird hai but she's a good friend" she responded.

"Weird is an understatement" he stated.

"Well they've practised na? So we could just watch it" she shrugged innocently.

"I'm going to kill Vikrant" he muttered beneath his breath knowing his brother and Geet's friend must've come up with this idea.

"Y'all must be thinking how we're going to do things differently right?" Amelia chirped. "Well you've always seen a serious Maan Singh Khurana and a shy Geet. What about if Maan Jeeju was a bit more like our naughty Vikrant and Geet was more like me?"

"Now can you imagine the story between them then?" Meera stepped beside Amelia.

"That was torture" Maan muttered standing to his feet once they'd enacted their practised act, he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.

"It was funny" Geet giggled.

"Did you like it bhai?" Vikrant walked over grinning widely.

"Yeah I did, I loved it so much I can't wait till I break that neck of yours" Maan bit out. "Wait till everyone's gone"

"Bhai" Vikrant frowned turning to Geet. "How was it bhabhi?"

"It was funny" Geet replied. "I liked it a lot"

"I bet you're wishing Maan bhai was like the Maan I played na? By the way does bhai flirt like this Maan did?"

Maan grabbed Vikrant's nape squeezing hard however it wasn't noticeable that he was even hurting Vikrant with the way he stood beside his little brother, Geet looked at Vikrant pitying him.

"Tell dadima to get everyone out of here as quick as she can. And you complain, I will break that neck" he squeezed his neck again.

"Ow bhai" Vikrant moaned.

"Understood?"

"I do" he nodded quickly, Maan released him gesturing him to leave.

"Dadima" Vikrant nudged her.

"Haan?" she looked over his shoulder, he gestured her to walk with him, once they'd moved away from the curious eyes and ears of relatives he started speaking.

"Bhai wants everyone gone soon"

"Kyun? Sab enjoy kar rahe hai" she frowned.

"Well bhai isn't" he muttered. "Plus it's nearly 10" he reminded.

"Teek hai teek hai" she nodded. "Gifts baaki hai aur cake bhi. After that we'll slowly wrap the party up" she responded.

"Saare gifts wahan rak diya hai" One of the servants informed Maan and Geet when they returned to their room then he excused himself leaving them alone.

Maan breathed in relief closing their room door, he walked over to the wardrobe pulling out his change of clothes wanting to be out of this suit, he looked over his shoulder and saw Geet pulling a few boxes of gifts and placing them on the bed.

"Geet kya kar rahe ho?" he questioned walking over to where she sat.

"Woh... I wanted to open the presents" she muttered softly forgetting for a moment that Maan was in the room as well. She'd enjoyed unwrapping presents especially having been deprived of presents since she was young, the only present she'd only unwrapped was the gift she was given on her birthday by her mother.

"Okay, but don't you want to change first? Get comfortable" he pointed.

"I'll change after you" she replied to which Maan nodded, he walked away into the washroom leaving Geet to unwrap the gifts. Before she'd reached for the box, she was immediately reminded of the gifts she'd purchased with Maan for their family members and friends, she knocked on the washroom door hoping Maan hadn't changed just yet.

"Yes Geet?" Maan responded.

"Woh we haven't given the gifts to anyone" she replied.

"I'm not giving anyone anything" he called back.

"But... I... I don't want to go alone and give it, I barely know them" she told him.

He opened the door slightly looking at her. "You want me to come?" he questioned.

"I... yeah" she nodded.

"Nice try" he smirked. "I can't come and I..." he cleared his throat "I don't want you to go, pass them onto dadima or someone else to pass them on"

"Par they're family, it's..."

"They're not family Geet" Maan corrected. "I don't like them and you don't as well"

She looked at him curiously and confused. "How don't I like them? I think they're alright"

"Just... trust me please" he stepped out holding her shoulders. "I know what they're like Geet, you're too good for them"

"What about the gifts then?" she pointed.

"We'll take them to dadima and she can hand them out since she loves them so much that she'd invited them all" he replied. "And we'll give dadima's gift together" he added knowing what her next question might be.

She smiled agreeing. "Okay, I'll just change"

Maan stepped aside allowing her to use the washroom whilst he waited for her, he looked at the gifts on the bed that were given to them.

He couldn't recall the last time he'd received a gift, other than on his birthdays from dadima and his brother but then he barely cared to open them. He'd usually dump them into the back of his wardrobe, he walked over bending down and rummaged through and found a couple of wrapped boxes which happened to have gathered dust.

"Who gave those?" Geet questioned walking out and found Maan holding a couple of wrapped boxes. "They look kind of old" she stared curiously.

"They're... presents from before" he stared at the box in his hands dusting it off properly. "Dadima and Vikrant had given these on my birthday, I... I never opened them because I was too busy" he muttered staring down at them momentarily.

"Oh" she sat on the bed towel drying her hair, Maan looked up at her slightly surprised seeing her damp form, he hadn't ever really seen her after she'd had showers or baths, because he always happened to be out of their bedroom by the time she'd woken up or he'd be out of the mansion and on his way to the office.

Her hair was down, damp, her face clear of makeup and she looked quite beautiful, even more beautiful he thought inwardly. Dressed in a pink vest with the words Angel' across her top, and a black pair of pyjamas she looked innocently alluring.

His eyes drew to her slender neck, she'd kept on her manglsutr which pleased him to no end, he walked over carrying the boxes he'd dug out and joined beside her.

She placed the towel down on her lap watching him silently, Maan slowly unwrapped and uncovered the box he'd kept away for so long, he opened it pulling out a frame with a picture of his father sat on the chair whilst little Maan was standing beside his father and a young Vikrant sat on his father's lap.

He stared down for a moment before shoving it back into the box and looked at the other boxes, he cleared his throat grabbing them once again and walked over stuffing them into the back of the wardrobe.

"Maan" Geet called tentatively from where she sat feeling confused and was concerned.

"I don't want to talk about it" he replied. "Khair why don't you open the presents?" he gestured to the other wrapped boxes on the bed.

"It's okay, we should go give dadima her gift before she sleeps" she suggested standing up, she hung the towel to dry then slipped on a thin robe tying the ends. Maan only nodded grabbing the gift bags they'd bought, Geet placed the rest of their anniversary gifts back where the servant had placed them before then walked out with Maan.

"Maan, Geet" Dadima looked at the both of them confused as it was quite late now. "Aap dono soye nahi?"

"Dadima we actually got something" Geet answered, dadima nodded opening the door wider allowing them inside her bedroom.

"Kya hai bete?" she questioned staring at the bags they'd brought to her room.

"Everyone's leaving tomorrow so there's some gifts in this bag for everyone" Geet gestured to the bag Maan was holding, he placed it down beside his feet.

"Aur..." Geet paused for a moment pulling out the wrapped gift box in the bag she held. "Yeh aapke liye"

Dadima smiled taking it off her. "Kya hai bete?" she questioned curiously.

"You have to open it dadima" she smiled. "We chose it together" she added gesturing to Maan as well.

"Yeh..." Dadima eyes stung as tears welled instantly as she looked at the crystallized frame they'd gifted, in it were the pictures of dadima and her late husband, it was the picture which she'd cherished for the years that'd come, one that she'd remember dearly, the day her husband had proposed in front of all their family and friends at her birthday.

"Where did you get this?" she looked between them both, Maan smiled warmly knowing how much this meant to her.

"Me and Vikrant went digging" Geet informed, "then we decided to get the coloured version since the old one was black and white" she added. "Maan chose the frame knowing you liked crystals and diamonds more"

"It's just a small way of saying thank you dadima" Maan added.

"Aap ne jo... kiya humare liye... we..." Geet looked at Maan who smiled in encouragement asking her to carry on. "We couldn't have gotten here without you" she continued staring back at dadima who now had tears sliding down her cheeks.

"Hmm" Maan hummed taking dadima into his arms and side hugged her. "I would never ever be able to repay you back for what you did for me dadima, but I promise to make you proud. Everyone will know that my dadima had brought me up, like a mother should"

Dadima cried smiling at the same time, she hadn't heard her grandsons say such words, he hadn't ever expressed himself in such a way but today having him say such beautiful things, she was overwhelmed.

"Also a thank you for not forcing us to dance" Maan chuckled reminding her, Karan had purposely announced the wife and husband dance however dadima had cut in taking Vikrant onto the dance floor and dancing with him, Maan had mentally noted to knock Karan out for this act and he hadn't still forgotten it.

"Bete I know you more than yourself, you wouldn't have ever danced in front of them" Dadima smiled looking down at the frame once again. "But that doesn't mean those dancing classes won't come to use" she looked at them both teasingly.

Maan shook his head at her then looked at Geet who watched them both in admiration. "Anyways it's getting late dadima, you should sleep now" he stepped back pressing a kiss to her temple. "Don't say I gave those gifts, you can tell them all Geet had brought it"

"Alright I won't" Dadima agreed. "We don't want anyone to know my grandson is a soft teddy bear" she laughed.

"I might just go back on my words of making you proud" Maan teased her surprising Geet as she expected Maan to probably scowl at dadima and argue with her like he always did.

"Bete you've already made me proud" Dadima grinned and looked at Geet. "By making Geet happy" she smiled warmly at Geet then looked at Maan. "She's happy and you're happy, I don't want anything else"

Geet blushed feeling embarrassed, Maan nodded in response.

"We'll get going" he told her. "Get some sleep dadima" he hugged her once more kissing her forehead, Geet hugged dadima and walked out with Maan.

"Don't you really like dancing?" Geet questioned as she stood on their balcony staring around their large garden. Unable to sleep she'd turned on the radio listening to it whilst she admired the night sky and their beautiful serene garden.

"No, I only did it for dadima" Maan walked joining her side. "Why do you?"

"Haan" she answered honestly. "Like I don't know how to... but I liked dancing and watching especially what Meera, Vikrant, Amelia did for the mehndi, it was entertaining" she explained.

"We'd practised but haven't actually danced" Maan spoke.

"Matlab?" she frowned.

He held out his hand, Geet looked at his hand then at him.

"Aap dance karenge? Ab? Yahan?"

"There's no one here plus dadima did spend quite a bit of money on those dancing instructors" he shrugged.

"You don't have to do this because I like it" Geet spoke softly.

"One other thing Geet" he leaned forward. "I... enjoyed dancing with you though" he whispered.

Geet gaped in surprise, she looked back at his hand that he still held out offering it to her, she bit her cheek and slowly took his hand. They stared at each other as they heard the next song that was requested by another listener.

Ishq bulava jaane kab aave

Ishq bulava aave jab aave..

Main ta kol tere rehna

Main ta kol tere rehna

Main ta baitha kol tere...

She blushed shyly tightening her hold on his shoulders chewing on her lower lip as she moved like they'd been taught, Maan didn't move his eyes off of her taking in her expressions, admiring her without a pause.

Tainu takda ravaan

Baaton pe teri hansda ravaan

Pagal main khud nu banaanda ravaan

Tu hansdi rave, main hansaanda ravaan

Tainu takda rawaan...

Geet shied dipping her eyes down knowing her husband was observing her, she swallowed hard feeling his fingers flexing at her hips, a shiver running down her spine, she tried to keep her eyes averted but slowly found herself tilting her head up a little and locking eyes with Maan.

Ajeeb rangaan di tu hai badi

Lage alag hi jahaan di

Ajeeb rangaan di tu hai badi

Lage alag hi jahaan di

Ae to nazraan nazraan di gal ve

Tu vi sun le zaraa

Main taa kol tere rehna

Main taa kol tere rehna

Main taa rehna kol tere...

Tainu takdi rawaan

Naina 'ch tere main vasdi ravaan

Paagal main khud nu banaunda ravaan

Tu hansdi rave, main hansanda ravaan

Tainu takda ravaan

No words were shared, their silence had spoken volumes, their acceptance of each other was enough to know how they feel. They didn't need to express so much in words for their actions spoke more, a year before none had ever thought to reach this stage of their life.

Maan wouldn't have ever thought the woman he hadn't spared a second glance to had become a sight to watch, enjoy and slowly becoming attracted to her.

Ishq duaavan jaane kab aave

Ishq duaavan aave jab aave

Main ta kol tere rehna

Main ta kol tere rehna

Main taa baitha kol tere...

Geet was afraid, petrified of crossing his way, she'd trembled at one point just hearing his footsteps but over the past year so much has changed.

The barriers had slowly been torn away, they'd come so far, progressed so much, neither was able to understand it properly, it just happened ever so unpredictably.

Tainu takda ravaan

Baaton pe teri hansda ravaan

Pagal main khud nu banaanda ravaan

Tu hansdi rave, main hansanda ravaan

Tenu takda ravan (x2)

They stared at one another unable to look away, the song and dance had long since stopped, they held onto each other but hadn't moved away, their breaths heavy, their bodies in close proximity. Geet closed her eyes when he lowered his head, Maan dropped a tender kiss to her cheek tightening his hold on her hips, Geet grasped his vest, her chest heaving tensing in his arms, a lump forming in her throat almost feeling afraid of what might be coming next.

"Geet..." Maan whispered pulling his head back slowly reaching up and caressing her cheek. "I don't w... I... I want to know you properly, understand you completely before we... ever take the next step"

She nodded feeling relieved, she was unsure for a moment but with his words she'd felt relief, she knew what those next steps are but she wasn't ready, especially when they've just started learning more about one another.

Maan felt relief having explained that to her, he didn't want her to expecting that he'd move into this relationship too fast, he couldn't especially with the problems he'd seen between his own mother and father, he wasn't going to risk losing his heart to Geet if it was going to break him in the end. He couldn't do that to himself or Geet, he was worried he'd be the one to hurt her and until they didn't learn each other completely and understand each other he wasn't going to take their relationship to the next step.

"Hi Geet" Dr Nikita greeted seeing her walking into the room.

"Hi" she smiled taking a seat.

"So what brings you here?"

"Nothing really, I'm kinda okay these days"

"Just okay these days?" Nikita raised her brows. "Off the record, I think you're more than okay Geet especially when I've seen a completely different side to you at your anniversary party" she smiled.

"I think it was the party atmosphere" she responded cheekily.

"Nice try" Nikita laughed. "So speaking of anniversary, how were those days for you?"

"I enjoyed it a lot, um... I enjoyed spending time with Maan" she thought back to their late night dance on the balcony, the proximity of their closeness making her blush.

"Geet Khurana what are you thinking about?" Dr Nikita looked at her amused.

"Um... Nothing I just..."

"Geet" Nikita looked at her. "Sure sure..." She laughed. "What's playing in your head then?"

"Nothing I was just... thinking of work"

"Geet when I took you on as a client and you accepted, we'd promised to be honest if you remember" Dr Nikita reminded.

"I... I don't know okay" Geet shied. "Woh.. I..."
"Ah haan" Nikita laughed. "Well?"

"I... I think I'm... I'm falling for him" she mumbled softly, closing her eyes and biting her lip feeling embarrassed and shy. "I'm going to pretend I didn't say anything to you"

"You can pretend all you like sweets, but I know love when I see it" Nikita winked.

"Dr Nikita" Geet whined blushing.

"Waise aap woh aa rahe haina aap ko pick up karne?" She teased.

"Dr Nikita, I won't come back here" Geet stood up crossing her arms innocently making Nikita laugh even more.

"Teek hai ji, main aapke woh se paise le lungi" Nikita grinned.

"Dr Arav kaise hai?" Geet shot back teasingly. "Suna hai ke shayad kuch khush khabri... you know na..." she winked.

"Geet Khurana you're good" Nikita smiled. "Obviously Maan Khurana ki wife jo ho"

Geet smiled dipping her eyes down shrugging. "After our anniversary it was back to our own lives but... Maan didn't move out of our bedroom and... we spend more time together. In the evenings he spares time for me" she fiddled with her fingers. "We talk, go out for coffees or just spend an evening in the garden talking to each other. Even if its for an hour"

"I'm really happy for you Geet" Dr Nikita reached over squeezing Geet's hand gently. "The changes in you for the last year is... incredible. From being someone who barely talked to me, you're now laughing and teasing me" she scowled playfully. "I don't know much about your husband but I can see the changes in you to know that he's good for you especially since the last few months you've... you've changed a lot more and you're in love" She smiled warmly feeling genuinely happy for Geet.

"Get the hell out Vikrant" Maan shouted.

"What? I didn't do anything wrong" Vikrant responded.

"Exactly, you done nothing wrong that's because you're not doing anything. All you do is spend half your time flirting with every girl that walks past" Maan countered angrily.

"I wonder what Meera will think" Karan added.

"Hey she knows I harmlessly flirt" Vikrant replied defensively. "And by the way you stop butting in shrek! At least I can flirt and get along with women unlike you"

"Why you..." Karan stepped forward wanting to punch him.

"Enough" Maan bit out. "You get out!" he pointed to Vikrant then turned to Karan. "Why the hell are you here? Don't you have your own office?"

"I came regarding the project that we've signed on" Karan reminded.

"Fine" Maan sighed and looked at Vikrant. "Get out!"

"What? Bhai I need to help or else I'd never be able to convince Meera's family that I can provide and care for her"

"Your name's a Khurana that should be enough and now get out of my office" Maan replied gesturing to the door.

"Yeah why do you need to convince them? You're already married" Karan blurted out.

"What?" Maan whispered slowly his eyes turned to Vikrant staring at him seriously.

Chapter 50

"You better have a good reason to this" Maan muttered out glaring at Vikrant.

"Um... I..." Vikrant looked at Maan then turned to Karan before he looked back at his brother.

"When?" Maan grit out.

"Bhai I..."

"Speak up or I wring that neck of yours Vikrant" Maan threatened angrily. "Did you not think of dadima once?"

"Dadima will be happy that I've at least got married, it'll be a stress off her shoulders" he muttered softly however Maan had heard.

"What did you just say?" Maan grabbed Vikrant's collar bringing him closer. "Say that once again?" he breathed out sharply.

Main gaya. Vikrant thought.

"Vikrant" Maan growled shaking him harshly. "Why did you marry without letting anyone know?"

"Well..."

"Spit it out" Maan hissed angrily, his eyes narrowed sharply.

Vikrant slowly breathed out shooting a quick prayer before he opened his mouth and spilled everything out.

"Hi dadima" Geet greeted walking in smiling, dadima looked at her curiously wondering what had brought on such a smile on her face, she almost chuckled recalling the frown Maan had walked in with, she'd known better than to question him about it.

"Hi bete" she greeted when Geet walked around taking a seat beside her. "Aap itne khush?" she raised her brows playfully. "I already know Maan isn't the reason because my dear grandson walked in with a sour face today"

"Dadima bas aise hi" She responded, she didn't want to reveal the real reason behind her smile as she knew dadima would tease her. Her real reason had been Maan, the way he'd teased her last night when she'd walked out wearing her Paddington bear night clothes. She'd tried to seem upset but he only chuckled making her smile along with him, and they ended up laughing as they snuggled up together.

"Aise hi?" Dadima lifted her eyebrows. "Bete aap aise hi nahi muskuraate" she flicked Geet's nose playfully.

"Dadima aap bhi na" Geet giggled. "Main change karke aati hoon" she excused herself and stood heading up the stairs.

Geet entered halting when she noticed Maan outside on the balcony leaning against the banister, his hands curled around the black metal edge.

So that's probably the sour face that dadima said. I should leave him alone na? or else he might be angry at me she thought to herself and turned to escape however she paused hearing Maan speak.

"Did you say something?" Maan frowned at Geet looking over his shoulder.

"No" she shook her head. "I'm just going to get... uh something" she turned around hurrying towards the door.

"Geet" Maan called making her stop once again.

"Ji?" she chewed on her lower lip nervously.

"What did you want to say?" he sighed heavily turning around leaning against the metal banister crossing his arms in front of him.

"Kuch nahi... I just came to get something" she informed.

"That's why you're leaving the room instead of getting what you wanted" he stared at her curiously.

"Oh... main... Woh main change karne aayi ti" she mumbled. "I'll just go and change" she shrugged out of her jacket grabbing her clothes. Maan only watched silently as she fumbled, almost tripping over her own feet, he hid a smile seeing her almost knocking into the washroom door, he looked away when she glanced his way.

Shaking his head he left the room almost forgetting why he'd been angry when he returned home, he rolled his eyes inwardly when dadima stared at him curiously.

"Maan bete aap itne khush ab kyun hai? Upar gaye toh gussa ab neeche agaye aap..."

"Dadima don't start with your drama please" he settled on the sofa grabbing the newspaper from the coffee table.

"Aap ko na holiday pe jaana chahiye. Dimaag tanda ho jayega" she continued. "Spend a few weeks with Geet then I'm sure you'll cool down completely"

"Whatever dadima. I don't have time"

"Aapne holiday ke naam kuch suna hai Maan?" Dadima hissed. "Holiday ke meaning jaante bhi hai?" she added angrily.

"What was the trip 2 months ago dadima" he rolled his eyes.

"That wasn't your honeymoon" She snapped.

"Dadima" Maan narrowed his eyes sharply looking over the newspaper. "Tell me I didn't hear that"

"Mr Khurana you did!" She countered. "Kya karlenge aap?"

"You're... you're impossible dadima" Maan huffed placing the newspapers down in frustration. "You need to stop match making woman"

"Chup rahiye aap" she frowned.

"Waise aapko Ranbir kaise laga?" she spoke up again after she'd gathered herself.

Maan didn't answer instead scrolled through his latest emails.

"Maan" Dadima grabbed a cushion throwing it his way, it'd hit his hand and almost his phone had nearly slipped.

"Dadima what the hell woman? You just told me to shut up. Make your mind up"

"Agar main kahungi... ke..."she tried to think of something. "Haan... go drown yourself in the toilet would you do it?" she countered.

"You can't drown in a toilet" he replied smartly.

"Aapko toh main... mann karta hai ke... aap se baat karna bekaar hai" she huffed standing to her feet.

"Toh baat kyun karte hai?" he responded with a playful smirk. Dadima scowled at him for a moment before she stalked off, Maan shook his head chuckling silently.

"Don't you get bored of reading the same thing?" Maan questioned looking at Geet curled up on the chair with a blanket covering her from waist down and a book in her hand. He'd wondered where she'd disappeared after they'd all had dinner, she wasn't in their room he'd noticed her when he'd checked their balcony and joined her outside near the poolside.

"How is it the same thing?" she questioned innocently. "I read a different book just 2 days back" she explained sitting up slightly on the chair.

"It's still the same romantic recycled stuff I'm guessing?" he raised his brows hiding his smile as he settled on the chair beside her, he was close to grinning hearing her clarifying to him.

"Aap ko kaise pata? You're not secretly reading my books are you?" she grinned cheekily keeping her feet on the floor and leaning forward.

"You're not as stupid as you seem Geet" Maan laughed brushing her hair away from her face, caressing her cheek gently.

"You're not as clever as you seem" she giggled yelping when he reached for her teasingly, Geet ran around the chairs laughing, Maan looked at her standing up challenging her.

"You're really going to chase me?" she mumbled in disbelief staring at him momentarily.

Geet stepped backwards seeing Maan slowly taking steps towards her, he'd definitely rattled her when he challenged her silently, she hadn't looked where she was stood and turned to run away hurriedly before he caught her, however she'd put her feet in mid-air which happened to be where the pool was, Maan hurried to her side however Geet fell in with Maan following behind with a miscalculated step.

Both drew up coughing and fully drenched, Geet brushed her hair out of her face and looked at Maan who stood before her wiping his face, sharing a silent look both ended up laughing.

"Sab aapke waje se" she giggled looking around.

"Now how is it my fault you're clumsy?" he raised his brows.

"Aap na..." she turned to swim towards the edge, Maan caught her arm stopping her, looking over her shoulder she frowned in confusion.

"You're wet Geet" he whispered.

"Toh aap bhi..." she started however Maan spoke again cutting her off.

"Stay here, I'll get you a towel" he replied without explaining further.

"My dress isn't see through" she informed recalling the hotel incident, her eyes widened as she registered what she'd blurted out. "Woh I mean... why can't I come out?" she mumbled.

"Because you look too beautiful right now" he inched closer brushing away her wet hair. "I don't want anyone looking at you" he stated so sincerely she blushed feeling her heart pounding with each passing second.

She frowned when he started moving to the edge and stood. "By the way that was a quote from the book" he pointed to the wet book which floated in the middle on the pool.

Geet gaped at him in disbelief reddening even more for she had believed him. "Aap na..." she only gawped as he laughed walking away into the mansion. She looked at her book with a pout. "My book..." she whined softly. Stupid quote...

Maan smirked looking at Geet when they'd all sat together in the hall later on in the evening, dadima happened to be talking to Geet about various things, however she kept on stealing glances of her husband as he pretended to be intrigued with whatever was on his screen but she'd seen the sly smirks.

Maan's smile faded when he heard a car engine, he looked over his shoulder frowning at his brother who strolled in. He glared at Vikrant reminding him what he'd promised to do.

Oh f**k, why couldn't bhai forget things? He wondered to himself as he slowly walked into the hall, he looked between the two women and his brother.

"Dadima" he called out softly.

"Haan bete" she looked up and noticed him. "Arre Vikrant aap pure din kahan te?" she frowned. "You didn't come home for dinner as well"

"Haan dadima... woh..." he looked at Maan pleading silently. Maan only glowered gesturing to dadima, he walked towards her and kneeled taking her hand. Dadima looked at him confused frowning.

"Vikrant" Dadima chuckled. "Kya kar rahe hai aap?" she questioned caressing his hair gently.

He breathed in sharply. "Dadima... I'm married" he blurted quickly closing his eyes waiting for the slap to come. Her hand paused, he opened his eyes as she slowly pulled her hand away looking at him even more confused.

"K... kya?" Dadima looked at Maan then at Geet who's eyes widened in shock.

"Yeh kaisa mazak hai Vikrant" she scolded.

"Dadima... it's..."

"Dadima he's married to Meera" Maan spoke up. "I only found out today myself" he broke to her gently moving to her side and settled on the other side of Geet.

Both dadima and Geet were shell shocked.

"Vikrant... aap yeh mere saat..." she muttered looking at Maan. "Maan yeh..."

"Dadima" Maan covered his hand with hers. "Meera doesn't know as well"

"Kya? Two people get married" she snapped standing and moved away. "Not one person! Vikrant... aap ne kabhi yeh socha hai ke... how will her family react? Shaadi koi mazak nahi hai! Aap ne aisa..." she sighed heavily. "It's not a childish game Vikrant"

"Dadima... I..." Vikrant straightened moving towards her.

"Meera ko kaise nahi pata?" she questioned.

"Remember that weekend trip to Goa with Amelia and bhabhi that we'd gone to?" he spoke. "The trip we'd taken like 4 months back"

Dadima's eyes widened recalling Vikrant had looked a wreck when he returned, she knew he'd been drinking and was hungover but kept quiet. "4 months ago? 4 months back you married her and you're telling me now?" she yelled. "Didn't you need her permission? It could be a fake marriage..."

"I got all the authentic paperwork, it was in my bag, I didn't remember half the weekend Dadima but... when I saw the papers I remembered bits and bits. Meera doesn't even remember the trip" he explained.

"Great! So I've got a grandson who married without telling me and I've got another bahu who doesn't even know she is married" she paced the floor.

"Yeah that pretty much makes sense" Vikrant shrugged.

"Vikrant get out!" Dadima shouted stopping and turning to him. "Mere nazar ke saamne se hattiye warna main aap ko ghar se nikaal dungi" she pointed to the door. "Who does such a stupid mistake these days? She's not pregnant is she?" she grabbed his arm just as he turned to walk out and shook him. "You didn't..."
"God! No" he shook his head. "We're not having sex"

Geet felt embarrassed and uncomfortable, she shifted looking everywhere but anyone else in their hall, Maan tried to keep a straight face but he was just as uncomfortable.

"How would I know that?" she snapped back. "Go get her tested for pregnancy and tell her that she's married"

"Alright dadima please" Vikrant sighed. "Look she's going to kill me if I tell her. She... Dadima she won't marry me for real if I tell her. I planned to propose to her" he informed.

"The foundation of marriage should be trust, hiding this and when she finds out later you'll have broken her trust?" she countered. "You're the two people I expect not to break anyone's trusts" she looked at Maan. "Don't be like your mother" she turned back to Vikrant. "It's because of this trust you were left motherless" she shook her head walking away feeling betrayed by her youngest grandson.

"Dadima" Vikrant called after her feeling defeated, he looked at Maan and Geet.

"Speak to Meera Vikrant" Maan spoke. "Then we'll convince dadima and her parents. But first you need to speak to Meera"

Vikrant looked at the stairs sadly, he'd felt even worse seeing dadima's sullen face when she walked away, he headed up and went straight to his room closing the door silently.

Chapter 51

"Dadima" Geet knocked on her door unable to sleep, she'd tried but failed to sleep knowing how hurt dadima had been, Maan hadn't come to bed as well tonight so she decided to speak to dadima regarding Vikrant and Meera's secret marriage.

Geet slowly opened the peeking as she hadn't gotten an answer, she blinked surprised to see Maan with his head on dadima's lap as they talked softly to each other, however his eyes closed, he seemed peaceful and comfortable.

She stepped back to leave them be however dadima called out having noticed movement.

"Kaun hai?" dadima called out again hearing no reply.

Geet opened the door stepping in and came to view. "Woh main..."she looked at Maan who had his eyes closed then at dadima who smiled faintly. "Dadima aap teek hai na?" she asked sounding concerned.

Dadima smiled nodding gently. "Haan bete, aiyye" she gestured to the space beside her.

Geet walked over settling closer to the edge, had she moved closer she was sure Maan's shoulder's were going to be touching her knees.

"Geet yahan aaiye" Dadima laughed at the considerable space she'd kept between them. "Maan aap uttiye, aap ke waje se" she patted his shoulder.

"Nahi dadima" Geet touched dadima's forearm interrupting her. "um.." she mumbled incoherently to herself as she shifted closer to dadima with her legs crossed on dadima's bed. Maan didn't move, he kept his eyes closed whilst he enjoyed dadima caressing his head, he was surprised as he'd heard Geet's voice, he'd expected her to sleep as she usually went to sleep by 12 in the morning and he knew it past 1am now.

"So nahi paaye?" Dadima asked her casually.

"Nahi dadima" Geet shook her head. "Mujhe aapke chinta ho rahi ti"

"Hamari ya..." she winked gesturing towards Maan.

Geet blushed biting her cheeks. "Dadima..." she whined softly hoping Maan was sleeping and didn't hear unfortunately for her Maan did hear, he'd also caught dadima's teasing but kept quiet enjoying his wife's innocent whining.

"Dadima woh main... Kal main Vikrant ke saat ja sakti hoon? Main janti hoon ke Meera yeh baat jaan kar khush nahi hogi" she questioned.

"Haan bete" she agreed. "Pata nahi Vikrant kya soch raha ta? Aur yeh baat Meera se chupa kar rakna chahta ta? Dono shaadi ko mazak soch kar..."

"Dadima they didn't know" Maan spoke opening his eyes and looking up at her.

"They didn't know? There's a limit to irresponsibility" she informed. "Two days later if he comes home and says he killed someone whilst he was drunk, will the police understand? Would you understand?"

"Dadima" Maan sat up sighing heavily and turned to face her. "This is his first actual major mistake right?" he asked.

"Kyun? Maan if you're going to side with your brother then you can get out as well"

"Dadima I'm not siding with Vikrant. He was very wrong, that's why I told you. If I supported him won't I have sorted this out myself?" he questioned raising his brows.

"I'm worried for Vikrant, I thought he'll be mature by now. Par yeh ladka..."
"Dadima stop worrying over him, he'd only be mature if you stop spoon feeding him. You do almost everything for him, you tell me to sort out any mess he's in, you try sorting out all of his mess as well. Let him do things himself. Let him speak to Meera alone, sort it out and speak to her parents himself first. When it's time, we'd get involved. Until them let him do things, you've spoon fed us all these years dadima. It's time you rest and stop worrying"

"Agar..."

"Dadima agar magar kuch nahi" Geet slipped her arms around dadima. "Maan sahi keh rahe hai, if we all don't give Vikrant space then how will he be able prove that he's capable and mature?"

"Haan haan aapke liye Maan sahi honge" Dadima laughed looking between both husband and wife.

"Dadima" Geet whined hiding her face into the hollow of dadima's neck blushing.

"Well dadima she is my wife" Maan winked, Geet bit down on her lip grinning widely, she was thankful her face was hidden from both of them.

Maan excused himself after a while leaving dadima and Geet to speak for a while, he went Vikrant's room hoping he'd be awake so they could talk however his brother was sleeping on the sofa. Maan grabbed the blanket and pillow and placed the blanket over Vikrant then placed the pillow under his cheek so his brother wouldn't be getting a stiff aching neck in the morning.

Geet returned to their room a while later and found Maan lying on his side, he didn't seem asleep even though his eyes were closed, she'd have known as he breathes quite deeply and his shoulders are usually more relaxed. She walked around and climbed into her side of their bed watching him silently, she yelped when he suddenly turned throwing his arm around her waist taking her by surprise.

Maan opened one eye looking at her inquisitively. "Who attacked you Geet?"

"Ji?" she looked confused and innocent, Maan couldn't help himself so he smiled chuckling at her innocent response. "Um... nobody" she muttered wondering if he was laughing at her confusion, Maan's chuckles turned to laughter at her response.

"Maine kuch galat... Aap has kyun rahe hai?" she questioned frowning in annoyance.

Maan chuckled shaking his head. "Kuch nahi.." he cleared his throat gathering himself.

Geet didn't believe him, so she turned showing him her back, Maan smirked realizing Geet was annoyed at him, he shifted closer pressing his chest to her back and slid his arm around her pulling her back making her gasp.

"M...Maan" she mumbled softly when she felt his cheek against the skin of her neck.

"Hmm..." He hummed back his response, he had only pulled her back so they'd simply hold each other and sleep as always, it'd always been Geet resting her head on his shoulder however tonight... he'd felt different. With her back pressed against his chest and her body completely curved so perfectly and his arms covering her petite form.

Geet wasn't unaware of the different feel, she was breathing heavily, she bit down on her lower lip when she felt his fingers slowly moving till he covered the back of her hand and slipped his fingers into hers squeezing gently.

Maan didn't speak, he simply held Geet squeezing her fingers in reassurance, however the skin of her neck was far too close to his face. His eyes drew to the slender curve, her skin was soft, almost perfectly shaped, he could almost see the veins of her neck.

Geet arched tensing involuntarily when she felt his lips at the base of her neck, her nails pressing into his skin. "Maan..." she whispered unwillingly feeling an unfamiliar sensation coursing through her, however it wasn't unwelcome.

Maan breathed heavily pressing his eyes closed as he pulled away, he slowly untangled their fingers and shifted till he lay on his back cursing inwardly. "I'm sorry Geet"

Geet looked over her shoulder once she'd gathered herself together, she didn't say anything instead curled up by his side wrapping her arm around his stomach like every night.

"Geet" Maan whispered as he placed his arm around her shoulder.

"I don't regret it" she responded cutting him off before he spoke, she snuggled close pressing her eyes closed, she felt something else, she didn't feel bad but a part of her enjoyed the unfamiliar sensation.

Maan finally breathed in relief, he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and tightened his arm around her, he'd felt tense worrying he'd pushed her away with his forwardness tonight. He'd never felt such desire before, and being so intimately close to his wife led to his action. He looked down at Geet when he felt her weight on his shoulder, she'd gone to sleep, he held her and closed his eyes allowing sleep to take over.

"Good morning" Maan looked over his shoulder hearing Geet shifting, she blinked smiling faintly before responding something back he couldn't hear properly or even make out.

"Are you going somewhere?" Geet sat up seeing he's all dressed seemingly to go, however he didn't look like he was going to the office, usually he'd wear his three piece, today he settled on his white shirt and crisp black pants.

He stood from up having done his shoe laces and turned around facing her. "Not just me, we're both going" he replied picking his watch from the night stand. "Vikrant asked me to go with him to Meera's, you wanted to go remember?"

"Oh, yeah" she nodded climbing out, Maan grabbed her by the waist when she'd almost stumbled over her own feet.

"Careful" he muttered smiling down at her gently.

"Thanks" she replied softly pulling away and walked into the washroom.

Maan shook his head chuckling and walked out of their room with his phone, he found Vikrant stood at the bottom of the stairs looking nervous.

"What's wrong?" Maan questioned as he joined him downstairs.

"Dadima is still mad at me bro, she's not speaking to me at all" he replied. "And... I'm worried about telling Meera, what if she... she breaks up with me or something?"

"You need to explain everything to her, and why you hadn't told her all these months" Maan responded. "Dadima doesn't want to keep Meera in the dark nor her family, they'd probably suggest a quick small wedding or whatever. Just agree and don't argue if that's what they say. You'll survive if you do everything right"

"You found no other time to joke?" Vikrant scowled.

Maan smirked shrugging and walked into the dining room to see dadima already having her breakfast silently.

"Aap unke saat jaa rahe hai?" Dadima looked at him.

"Unke? If you're meaning to say Vikrant then yes I am going" Maan replied. "You can say his name dadima, even if you're angry at him"

"You're looking rather happy this morning" Dadima raised her brows.

"Please dadima, don't go making assumptions" Maan reached for his coffee taking a sip. "You think I'm happy being stuck with this problem surrounding us" he raised his brows.

"Maan bete..." Dadima leaned forward crossing her hands. "I know when you're happy now, there's a difference in your moods. Before I couldn't tell whether you were sad, happy or angry but now there is a difference, even if it's only slight"

"Dadima will you ever stop exaggerating?" he stared at her questioningly.

"Nope" Dadima shook her head, Maan chuckled and started his breakfast.

"I feel like we're going to a funeral" Vikrant mumbled from the back as Maan drove to Meera's house, Geet sat in the passenger seat keeping silent. She'd been feeling nervous inwardly for her friend knowing Meera would be freaking out.

"Think of it as your own" Maan responded.

"Bro you're not helping" Vikrant huffed. "What if Meera doesn't accept me? Or she kicks me out of her life or breaks up with me?" he leaned against the gap looking between Geet and Maan. "What will I do?"

"Vikrant first calm down" Geet looked over her shoulder at him. "We don't know what Meera's going to say, she'd probably be upset an all... but we wouldn't know what she wants until you speak to her"
"Bhabhi I can already guess what she'd do, she'd probably want to castrate me for hiding this from her" he looked even more nervous.

"You don't know, and stop saying such unfortunate stuff. Wait till we're there. Speak to her and explain properly" she responded. "She might understand because it wasn't just you who signed the documents"

"I bloody well hope she does" he muttered shooting a silent prayer upwards.

Chapter 52

"I don't want to go inside" Vikrant looked over his shoulder between Maan and Geet.

"You need to speak to her" Geet replied. "Look her parents aren't here and won't be back till around lunch so go and speak to her. We'll wait in the back"

"What? You're not coming with me?" Vikrant frowned.

"You need to tell her yourself" Maan stared at Vikrant sternly, "Explain to her properly, how and what happened. We can't be doing stuff for you"

He nodded slowly, silently watching them head around the house, he then turned and headed towards Meera's front door.

Geet slid open the latch of the metal gate and pushed it open walking down the pebbled path and onto the grass, Maan following closely behind.

"Aren't you meant to inform her first Geet?" Maan questioned.

"I text her already, told her Vikrant needs to speak to her about something and we're going to there as well, except we'll be outside" she informed looking over her shoulder with a small smile. Geet gestured him to the corner garden sofa whilst she took the hammock like an excited child and started swinging back and forth.

"I take it you're a fan" he settled on the chair opposite and watched in secret admiration.

Geet chuckled biting on her lower lip. "You could say that" she shrugged gently closing her eyes. "We used to have a swing back in hp, mama used to take me out when I couldn't sleep and sometimes we'd just swing and sleep there"

Maan realized she was opening a little more about herself and felt proud and extremely pleased that she'd been able to share that with him.

He stood and moved just beside her looking down.

"You're blocking the sun" she opened her eyes giggling however paused, blushing instantly realizing just how close he actually was. Maan lowered down slowly, and his fingers reached out caressing her cheek. "Thanks for sharing that with me Geet" he mumbled softly staring for a moment before stepping back and moving back to his seat.

Geet sat straighter and stared ahead at him whilst he seemed to be unaware of her staring since he was now focused on the screen of his phone. She smiled inwardly to herself seeing him frown and roll his eyes from time to time, he'd even cursed a couple of times under his breath. She blushed furiously when he suddenly looked up and caught her, he raised his brows in amusement to which she looked away blushing in embarrassment.

"Well are you going to speak?" Meera frowned at Vikrant. "Geet told me about you wanting to say something so... what is it?" she questioned.

"I... don't know how to say this Meers, I..." his breathing grew heavier and he seemed even more nervous. "I... I didn't want to hide it from you.."

"You're in love with someone else aren't you?" she cut him off before he could continue. "Are you here to break up with me?"
"What? No, I... I done something really stupid" he responded hurriedly.

"You've cheated on me haven't you?" She whispered in disbelief.

"What? Stop jumping to your conclusions, it's really important this" He huffed out.

"Then why are you saying you did something stupid? What are you hiding from me Vikrant?" she questioned angrily. "You didn't knock someone up did you?" she covered her mouth with her palm in shock. "Oh my God..."

"Meers, no" Vikrant pulled her arm down from her mouth. "No, I didn't. I love you dammit so how could you think I'd done anything?"

"Because of the way you're acting now" she smacked his arm. "You're... you're never serious and today you're all... nervous and serious" she explained.

"Okay" he breathed out heavily, "Come here" he led her to the sofa making her sit down and sat in front of her on his knees. "Remember that... holiday trip we'd taken. The one we all barely remember?" he questioned gently.

"Oh God, you know" she gasped.

"What?" he stared at her utterly confused.

"You know we're married" she muttered. "Oh gosh"

"What? You know?" he straightened up and resting his hands on his hips.

"Yes, I got a copy of this marriage document few days after and I remembered. I didn't tell anyone because I was worried what mama and papa will say, what will your family say..." she cried softly, "I didn't mean to hide it, I... I didn't want you to think I'd trapped you so kept quiet"

"It's okay" Vikrant slouched and lowered onto his knees. "I... I thought you didn't know, I barely even remember getting married to you silly. I found the document few days after as well, I didn't know how to tell you or anyone else" he explained gently.

"I'm sorry for hiding it as well" she stared at him apologetically. "I didn't know how to tell you or anyone else, I thought you didn't remember"

He nodded smiling and felt relieved. "God, you don't know how happy I am now. I was so worried about losing you for a moment" he cradled her cheek bringing her close, Meera chuckled softly wrapping her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.

"How will we tell my parents Vikrant?" she whispered softly. "I don't know how to break to them, I know they're not serious like you and find you funny but marriage... I don't know how they're going to act"

"We'll figure something out" he rubbed her back. "Bhai and bhabhi are here to speak with them anyways. They just wanted to make sure you know this first" he added slowly pulling back. "But... we're married" he chuckled teasingly.

"It's not funny, this isn't even a proper marriage" she smacked his arm playfully sniffing and wiping the corner of her eyes.

"Don't worry I'll give you a proper wedding" he tweaked her nose. "Let's go speak to bhai and bhabhi and see what they suggest since you do know"

"You can stare Geet" Maan commented pocketing his phone and crossing his arms in front of himself as he leaned back comfortably.

"I wasn't looking at you" she mumbled lying to him as well as herself. You were looking at the trees that were behind him. She informed herself inwardly trying to convince herself.

"Sure you weren't" Maan responded playfully, he laughed when she looked up at the sky in a pout and somewhere guessed she was shooting up a prayer.

Maan cleared his throat straightening up and stood when he noticed Meera and Vikrant step out and walk towards them. Geet climbed off and turned to face the duo.

Nothing gave off from either of the expressions, Geet and Maan only seemed confused as to why neither seemed sad or happy, they only stared at them.

"Well?" Maan questioned Vikrant narrowing his eyes on his young brother.

"She knows" Vikrant grinned. "She's okay with it, well not okay with it but she's been hiding all these months as well" he spoke then went onto explain everything.

"When are your parents back Meera?" Maan questioned her.

"They'd be back around lunch or something Maan jeeju" she answered.

He glanced at his watch then nodded. "Alright we'll be back then" he looked at Geet asking her silently for her approval and she smiled in response. He then looked at Vikrant. "Are you going to join or stay here?"

"I'll stay" he replied rather happily, Maan shook his head and walked away towards their car whilst Geet exchanged words with Meera and Vikrant.

"You didn't tell me!" Geet scowled at Meera.

"I know, I'm sorry but I was so scared" she responded. "And you probably would have mentioned it to Maan jeeju or Vikrant"

"I wouldn't have" Geet crossed her arms.

"Okay fine, but you could have told Amelia, and she would have tol..."

"Whatever, I hate you" She turned away, Meera laughed and hugged her from behind.

"I love you too" she kissed Geet's cheek. "Now go and join your husband, and I'll stay with mine" she giggled.

Geet turned around smiling widely. "We're going to be sister in laws" she added excitedly.

"Yeah... though it's no surprise" Vikrant informed. "She was always going to be my wife bhabhi" he slipped his arm around Meera's waist and held her.

"Anyways I'm going to go. We'll be back soon"

"Why don't you just stay here? It's only for a couple of hours?" Meera questioned her since she was too nervous to ask Maan.

"I don't know, I wouldn't have minded but Maan probably has somewhere to go" she replied feeling confused herself.

"Bhabhi it's clear bhai wants to spend some time alone with you" Vikrant winked.

"Shut up, don't you have anything original to say?" Geet smacked his arm shaking her head at him, Meera laughed whilst Vikrant frowned down at Geet speechless. Geet excused herself and joined Maan in the car pondering over Meera's question herself.

"Everything okay?" Maan asked as she climbed in.

"Yeah..." she paused for a moment clicking her seatbelt into place. "Meera's asking us to stay, her parents will be here in a couple of hours anyways?"

"No thanks, I'd come back when they do" Maan started the engine and drew out of the driveway. "I don't want to be there, sitting like some lemon" he added.

"Why do you think you're going to be bored?" she glanced at him raising her brows, Maan smiled in response. He took a second left after a roundabout going towards xyz lane, then glanced at Geet very briefly before staring back ahead focused.

"I know you're there but you know me Geet now. I don't like being around strangers, Meera is a stranger even if she is now Vikrant's wife" he explained. "Not to forget that Vikrant the idiot will have something at the tip of his tongue just waiting to tease you"

"Hmm... okay" she nodded. "Where are we going?" she looked around curiously. She couldn't ever recall coming down this road.

"I thought we'll go for a coffee at Slattery's. They're chocolatiers, they make their own chocolate, every bun is cooked fresh and their hot chocolate is really excellent"

"I didn't know you had chocolate" she mumbled softly. "I've never seen you eat any"

"Well at home it's different, I don't know how to explain it but it's different. I enjoy eating at Slattery's now and then. Thought you'd enjoy it as well" he turned into the street heading towards the gates which were wide open welcoming all customers. Maan found a parking space quickly and drew up.

"Oh and they also have gift hampers, we could take one back for Meera and her family since we ended up going empty handed in the morning" he opened the door for her, Geet stepped out nodding in response. Once the doors were locked, she slipped her arm around his, Maan smiled down at her then walked into the cafe.

"It's so pretty" Geet commented before they had even stepped inside, Slattery's was a 3 storey cafe, the owners were selling freshly baked goods along with meals, their very own chocolates, jams, wedding cakes which they'd made and perfected.

"It's beautiful at night, with the darkness the building seems all lightened up" Maan replied. "We'll come around some time after dinner with dadima and Vikrant. Have dessert and coffee" he suggested.

"I'd like that" Geet smiled excited.

Her eyes widened as she stepped inside, she was taken aback with the astonishing view, words couldn't describe how beautifully elegant this place looked. They were instantly greeted and welcomed into the cafe.

Once they'd been seated, Maan ordered a coffee for himself whilst Geet settled for a glass of juice, seeing as it were hot today she couldn't have had a hot chocolate in this weather.

Their drinks came with a complimentary large chocolate coin, Geet watched Maan peel the golden foil and bite into it gesturing her to open hers. She chuckled covering her mouth seeing his expression, she could have sworn for a moment he didn't seem like the 27 year old man he was nor did he seem like the composed husband she knew of.

"This used to be dad's treat for me and Vikrant" he informed her taking a sip of his coffee. "Vikrant won their chocolate challenge once" he added.

"Chocolate challenge?" she questioned inquisitively.

"Yeah, chocolate challenge" he nodded and explained to her about Slattery's chocolate challenge which consists of a large portion of our American style chocolate fudge cake, served warm, with a portion of home-made chocolate ice cream, a portion of fresh cream and two chocolate pots filled with liquid chocolate sauce.

"Wow" She blinked in surprise. "Sounds like too much chocolate" she giggled.

"It's hard, I tried but couldn't do it. It's far too much chocolate" he agreed nodding his head.

"Do you order something to eat?" he asked.

"Uh... I don't think... Knowing Meera's parents they might have us stay back for Lunch if we go back around that time and it's going to be rude to say no"

"Hmm... Just order something small, next time we could come by for a good afternoon tea" he responded, she slowly nodded.

Maan ordered a Greek salad for himself whilst Geet settled for Tuna Nicoise. She was stunned with the portions, she'd expected them to be small bowls of salad but they were quite a large filling bowl, she had a bed of fresh salad, cherry tomatoes with boiled eggs and lots of tuna in the middle, one the side was vegetable sticks and a honey oat seeded bun. Maan had gotten a bowl of salads with vegetables, chunks of crumbled feta cheese with pitta bread and hummus at the side.

"This is more of a lunch" Geet whispered looking at her bowl then back at Maan.

"It's okay, if we can't eat at Meera's we'll just tell them that we've ate"

She nodded for a moment however was troubled by another thought. "What if they feel bad? I don't want them to feel bad"

"Geet believe me they're going to be feeling bad with their daughter's news of being married, for all I know they could ask us to leave than inviting us to lunch" he responded lifting his cutlery and starting on his Greek salad.

"Okay..." she slowly picked up her own and started, a smile spread across her face as she started to enjoy her meal.

"So how is it?" Maan questioned raising his brows gesturing to her bowl.

"It's quite good, actually really good"

Maan smiled. "See it's a nice place with really great food. Just relax and enjoy" he paused for a moment as he recalled something then inwardly smirked. "Geet you didn't take a selfie of yourself?"

Geet blushed biting down on her lip recalling when she'd taken a selfie of pointing to the temple when they'd gone out to Goa. "Aap... aap mera mazak uda rahe hai?" she frowned.

"I wouldn't dream of it" he smiled teasingly.

"You're making fun of me aren't you?" she questioned seriously, Maan only chuckled.

"Eat up Geet" he gestured. "We'll go walking around for a while"

"I know you were making fun of me in there" Geet told him once they'd stepped out having spent the last hour and a half eating and talking. Maan had walked to their car to place the chocolate hamper into the back and lock up so they'd go for a walk around.

"I was joking" he smiled turning around and slipping his arm around her waist leading her down the street where they were a couple of shops.

"But you weren't joking na? you were making fun of me" she complained innocently scrunching her nose.

Maan laughed unable to hold back and shook his head at her. "Don't overthink too much" he tapped her temple. "Do you want to go inside and see anything?" he gestured.

"No, I'm fine walking" she answered, she wasn't in the mood to shop and truth be told she hated shopping sometimes, she'd only shopped when it was necessary or when dadima insisted on going shopping. They turned towards the empty concrete pathway which was more the backs of the buildings, it was only the two of them walking together.

"Did you have fun in Goa? I know it was more of a business trip but..."

"I did, I enjoyed it a lot" Geet cut him off. "It was nice to get a break away from everyone"

"Speaking of break..." Maan stopped, he glanced either way just to be sure they were actually alone. He wouldn't have asked her here and would have preferred it in their room.

"Dadima's insisting on another break..."

"Dadima is insisting on a honeymoon" Geet blurted clamping her mouth shut instantly when Maan stared down at her in amused surprise and his brows raised.

"I... I... I di... didn't mean that... woh..." she stuttered trying to form words, her cheeks heated turning red making her all flustered.

"I guess you can call it that" Maan chuckled making her feel more embarrassed though he hadn't meant to so he only gathered her close by sliding his arm around her waist once again and continue walking further on so she wouldn't just feel like he was making fun of her. Geet cursed her mouth inwardly, pouting to herself wondering what else she'd be saying in front of him.

"You know Geet... I like that you're open with me" Maan spoke after a moment, turning his head to her waiting patiently for her to gather herself and draw up courage to see him. She did, she smiled faintly though she was blushing.

"I'd wished it for a long time and now with you being open and not as nervous... I like this side of you" he leaned closer, Geet blinked staring in wonder. "Don't change ever"

She shied biting down on her lip and slipped her arms around his middle and hid her face into his chest, Maan laughed and continued walking ahead.

"Vikrant I'm a little scared" Meera mumbled against his chest, they'd both settled on the hammock and had been laying there talking to each other.

"Believe me I am as well. I don't know what your parents will say but I only hope they accept us, dadima is angry with me and I'm worried how I'm going to win her forgiveness"

"Amelia would have been able to give some sort of idea" she added.

"Amelia would have given something crazy" Vikrant laughed. "But it sure would've worked"

"What if mama and papa refuse or something?" She lifted her head from his chest and stared down at him seriously. "What will we do then?"

"I don't know. That's the only reason I brought my bhai and my bhabhi with me, they'd be able to make them understand"

"I'm older than Geet" Meera reminded.

"Not in relation wifey" he tweaked her nose. "Plus bhabhi is quite mature than you" he laughed.

"Vikrant..." she whacked him.

"I'm only joking, you're both equally mature" he laughed.

"I think you're forgetting that you're not supposed to praise other women in front of your wife" Meera reminded.

"And it's Geet bhabhi" he chuckled.

"It's in the women blood to be jealous, even if is your best friend or bhabhi, Geet is my both so obviously I'm going be double jealous"

"Meers you couldn't be jealous if you tried" Vikrant responded.

"I know" she laughed resting her head on his shoulder. "You're the one doing the chasing and I know you love me so I have no reason to be jealous"

"Thanks Meers, sometimes you say the sweetest things to me" he replied with a smile.

"I know baby" she grinned.

After a half hour walk Maan decided they should start making a move towards Meera's house as her parents possibly may be back waiting for them. He'd wished silently that Vikrant had spoken to her parents calmly and they understood however he was unsure seeing as Meera turned out to be the only child of theirs.

"As I said about break before" he picked up the topic once they'd settled in the car. "I was thinking of taking a break, not this month or anything but probably next month or the month after. Before Vikrant's wedding since I'm sure he'd be away from home after his wedding on a long 3 month honeymoon"

"It wouldn't be surprising" Geet agreed with a laugh.

"Would you like to go anywhere?" he questioned stealing a brief glance of her.

"Yes, Disney Land Paris" She nodded seriously.

"Really?" he stared at her surprised.

"Why is there a problem?" she frowned.

"No, I mean why should there be" he shrugged. "If you want to go to Disney Land we'll go to Disney Land" he nodded, but glanced at her again. "You really want to go to Disney Land?"

"No" Geet laughed, "I was joking".

"Hmm..." Maan smirked. "Nice try at trying to fool me"

"You believed me" Geet laughed. "So I did fool you"

"Accha?" Maan raised his brows in amusement.

"I did okay? Why don't you just accept it? I did when you were joking" she pouted crossing her arms. "Main mazak karti hoon toh accha nahi hai lekin aap..."

"Shut up Geet" Maan cut her off turning off the engine turning his head to her since they'd reached Meera's place. "Kitni bolti ho tum"

"Par aap ne..."

"Shh..." he cut her off once more.

"Aap shhh" she turned her head away from him.

She breathed in sharply when she felt his lips brushing the side of her ears very briefly, he'd barely just grazed her skin, she could feel the warmth of his skin so intimately close.

"Gussa ho?" he asked her softly, his hand reaching down and releasing the seatbelt. Geet swallowed hard as he then placed his palm against her abdomen.

"Main... Maan... woh..." she stammered lowering her eyes down almost closing them.

"I... I don't say this enough" Maan stared at her, his eyes drawing to her closed lids down to the slope of her thin nose then to her lips which slightly trembled. "But when you're angry you look beautiful Geet" he whispered softly.

Geet opened her eyes slowly turning her face and looked at him.

"I don't praise you for being beautiful but... you are to me. I like watching you smile, being shy and stammering around me" he chuckled reaching up and caressing her cheek. "I like it more when you do your nautanki and you're angry"

"I don't do nautanki" she mumbled softly, her voice barely audible.

"Mmhmm..." Maan hummed, he brushed his nose along hers. Geet drew in a gasp when she felt the corners of his lips touching hers, and he very softly placed a gentle peck.

She kept her eyes closed whilst Maan pulled back slowly smiling when he noticed her blushing furiously yet there was a small grin on her face.

Geet opened her eyes chuckling as she noticed the smile on his face, she drew upwards pressing a quick peck to his cheek and turned to open the door and leave however fate decided to intervene and embarrass her.

She hit her face into the window as she tried to leave quickly, the door had remained locked. Maan stared in shock whilst she held her forehead in pain.

"Owww" Geet moaned.

"Geet you okay?" Maan touched her shoulder concerned.

"Why did you kiss me for? I melted and lost my head" she muttered. "I forgot where we were for a moment" she complained.

Maan stared at her in surprise before he laughed, Geet rolled her eyes at him rubbing her forehead. "It's hurting and you're laughing. Dadima wouldn't say you're a very good husband" she stated.

"Okay sorry, but I wasn't laughing at you" Maan gathered himself. "Let's have a look at how bad it is?" he removed her hand and noticed her skin was slightly red and there was a bump swelling. "It's small but would be best to get some ice on it"

"Okay..." she paused whilst Maan unbuckled his belt and proceeded in opening his side door, he looked over at her when she didn't move.

"What's up?" he questioned. "Is it hurting?"

"No, but don't kiss me when we're out in a place where I'm most likely to get injured and embarrass myself" she replied. Maan pressed his lips closed tightly shooting a quick prayer hoping he'd be able to keep himself from laughing but he couldn't. His shoulders shook as he burst out laughing.

"I... I'm sorry Geet" he laughed as he covered his eyes.

Geet smiled biting her cheeks seeing him laugh, she composed herself when Maan had finally looked her way. "Chale? Ya aap ko aur hasna hai mere upar?"

"Let's go, I think it's this car" Maan spoke opening the door and walked around, he was relieved that there wasn't anyone around, he assessed Geet's forehead once he reached her side and realized her bump was swelling even more.

"It's going to bruise, are you sure you're okay?" Maan questioned now concerned for her.

"It's okay, I'm fine. I've had it worse..." she snapped her lips shut realizing what she'd blurted out, she looked at Maan who stared at her seemingly worried for her. He didn't speak nor ask anything further, instead drew her close to his side and pressed his lips to her temple leading down the pathway towards Meera's front door.

Chapter 53

"Thank goodness you're here" Meera spoke as she opened the door. "Mama is driving me crazy" she grabbed Geet's wrist pulling her along, Maan followed closely behind rolling his eyes inwardly wondering if all of Geet's friends were weird.

They stopped short outside the living room area, Geet smiled hugging Meera's mother who walked over throwing her arms out.

"Geet bete where were you all these days? I haven't seen you in such a long time"

Geet smiled gently frowning at Meera who kept making silent gestures; gestures Geet didn't understand.

"Waise Geet" Meera's mom pulled out suddenly holding her shoulders. "Do you know what Meera wants to tell us both? She's pregnant isn't she?"

Geet stared at her surprised whilst behind Maan's eyes widened looking between Vikrant and then at Meera with narrowed curious eyes.

"Mom stop it" Meera tugged her mother away hissing sharply. "Can you just call dad from the garden?" she pointed.

"Singhania Saab andar aiiyye" Meera's mother walked over towards the French doors. "Meera wants to announce her pregnancy"

Meera wished she was stood on quick sand so she'd disappear silently seeing Vikrant and Geet laugh at her whilst Maan only stared in disbelief.

"Veena tum phir se maa bangayi?" Her father walked inside grinning widely.

"Main nahi, aap ki laadli beti" she pointed to Meera.

"Mom!" Meera scowled. "Can you both stop joking all the time?" she crossed her arms in front of her.

Her father quickly put his finger over his lips whilst her mother chuckled shaking her head.

"Oh God, why did you make them my parents for?" she muttered beneath her breath.

"Vikrant, I didn't see you there" Her father's eyes lit up and he walked over to Vikrant hugging him and slapped him on the back playfully. "You've made Meera pregnant haven't you?" he questioned pulling away. "I'm too young to be a grandpapa"

"Oh my Days! You guys are so embarrassing" Meera cried out.

"Yeh munda kaun hai?" Her fathered peered over at Maan.

"Um that's my brother uncle" Vikrant informed.

"Kaise ho beta?" He grinned widely walking over with his arms open, Maan shifted and quickly nodded curtly feeling uncomfortable when Meera's father hugged him. He looked at Geet who made gestures with her arms asking him wrap them around Meera's father, he only narrowed his eyes at her whilst she giggled softly to herself.

Meera's father pulled away smiling at Maan however once he turned his smile faded as he moved next to Geet. "Yeh kisse shaadi ki tune? Ladka badi ajeeb hai" he whispered.

Geet bit down on her lip to stop herself from laughing, she saw Maan staring at her curiously.

"Khair Geet bete tu bata. Meera is pregnant haina? Mujhe pata ta ke woh..."

"Dad!" Meera walked to his side frowning up at him. "You're embarrassing me"

"How am I embarrassing you? I just want to know what's the big secret" he laughed. "I'm too young yet to be a grand..."

"I'm married okay? I am not pregnant but married" Meera informed cutting him off.

Both her parents turned their head to her staring in disbelief.

"The thought of their daughter being pregnant didn't shock them, but being married does?" Maan whispered to Geet softly, she bit back her smile trying to remain serious.

"You're married? Who to?" Her father turned facing her now.

"Well who else?" she answered back clicking her tongue and rolling her eyes inwardly.

Both remained silent as they registered their daughter's words.

Geet walked over towards Meera suggesting they all should step out whilst her parents talked alone for a while, Meera agreed reluctantly and all four of them stepped out into the garden.

Inside Meera's dad sat down on the sofa feeling exhausted all of a sudden and feeling a little betrayed. Veena looked at her husband in concern wondering what he was thinking. "What are you thinking about?"

"She's grown up so fast" he muttered. "She's married Veena" he looked up at his wife. "And she hasn't told us at all. She's our only girl and she married without telling us"

"She's probably got some reason, you know Meera" Veena spoke sitting down beside him reaching over and taking his hand into hers. "She's more of our parent sometimes" she laughed. "We'll speak to both of them properly and see when all of this happened"

"She's married, I thought we had her for a few more years" he looked at his wife sadly. "I didn't think the time would be coming so suddenly to give her away"

"Hmm..." Veena hummed nodding her head. "But our little girl has grown up, if she married Vikrant then it only means she loves him a lot and he must love her a lot for her to say yes or else she wouldn't have said yes. She's our responsible little girl"

"I feel sick" Meera murmured. "What if they're discussing how to murder Vikrant or something?"

Maan looked over at Meera in disbelief whilst Geet and Vikrant didn't look surprised.

"They love you, they won't be discussing how to murder Vikrant" Geet rubbed her friend's arms reassuringly. "But you know I wouldn't mind it as well"

"Bhabhi" Vikrant narrowed his eyes at her.

"Well if you hadn't delayed it so long then... we wouldn't have been here today" she countered with a shrug. "Actually you shouldn't have married whilst you were drunk. Whose stupid idea was it anyways?" she questioned.

"If I could remember I would have" Vikrant answered. "But you see I can't, I was drunk. You should have stopped us bhabhi, you were also present with us at our trip" he reminded. "You didn't drink" he pointed out.

"I was in bed by 9" she scowled.

Vikrant and Meera burst out laughing, Maan looked amused smiling inwardly whilst Geet stared between them confused with a frown.

"You're saying as if you had a timetable and you were sticking to it" Vikrant laughed out.

"I hate you, I really hope they're planning your murder in there"

"No one is murdering anyone" Veena smiled as she stepped out with her husband, Geet bit down on her lip cursing her mouth.

"We've talked and we want to know how you both married without letting any of us know" Veena questioned sitting down on the metal swing gesturing the others to take a seat on the chairs opposite.

"We didn't know till this morning mom" Meera replied. "We'd gotten married but never told each other..." Meera explained everything and how she'd come to know about everything herself. "I was just scared to tell anyone, I didn't want Vikrant to feel like I'd trapped him and I didn't want to disappoint you guys" she added once she finished explaining herself.

"Baby you never disappointed us ever, and you still haven't" Veena assured her. "If you've married Vikrant then I know he loves you a lot. That's all we want" she looked at her husband who nodded in response.

"We want you to be happy Meera, we aren't upset that you're married but we're scared of losing you. We thought we had you for the next couple of years" her father stared at her sadly. "We hadn't imagined giving you away so soon"

Meera nodded and walked over settling between them both. "I didn't hurt you guys, I promise. It just happened and I want you to know" she muttered sadly.

Veena cradled her daughter's cheek kissing her whilst her dad side hugged her as well, Geet smiled, Vikrant seemed relieved whilst Maan looked away.

"Asli shadi kab karni hai?" Veena asked looking around.

"It's best to speak to dadima about it all aunty" Geet replied deciding dadima will be the best person to speak to about all this after all she was the elder and wise.

"Teek hai bete. Waise lunch karoge?" Veena stood.

"Nahi aunty, actually mujhe kaam pe bhi jaana hai, I've only taken half day off. Karan is expecting me in an hour" she responded.

Veena nodded, Maan stood and exchanged a polite goodbye and excused himself retreating with Geet walking alongside him.

"I don't see why we had to come, Meera handled it well" Maan commented. "I can't believe Vikrant is my brother" he added.

"Kyun?" Geet questioned curiously.

"He was making Meera do all the speaking, I wonder who's the one wearing the pants in their relationship" he replied. "He should have spoken to them and explained everything"

"But Meera knows her parents much more better that's probably why she spoke with them explaining it in the way only she knows how" Geet explained. "And Vikrant could've mucked it up and that'd be messing his chance of making Meera his official bride if her parents decided to say no"

"Still he should have assured them" Maan opened the door for her waiting for her to climb then walked around settling his seat.

"He's probably assured them enough when he used to be around their place half the time" she chuckled.

"Maybe but marriage is different from being a girlfriend and boyfriend. It comes with responsibility, I expected Vikrant to assure them that he'd keep Meera happy in our house" he started the car and drew away.

Geet stared at Maan in awe, for the first time she'd noticed he was speaking favour of elders. "Hmm you're right there" she agreed with a smile.

"Anyways you never said you were only taking half day" he raised his brows.

"I know it's because I didn't" she laughed. "You were uncomfortable in there so used an excuse to leave" she winked. "You looked like you couldn't handle all the sweetness"

"I can handle some sickly sweet crazy people for a few hours Geet" he rolled his eyes.

"Sure you can" she laughed. "2 minutes in there was enough to make you uncomfortable"

Maan shook his head at her. "I think we should get you home, you're probably catching some craziness disease off them. How do they laugh and joke all the time?"

"They're great people" Geet informed. "Veena Aunty and Raj Uncle are like the best parents to come across, they're always so happy and I love how they care for each other and Meera" she added. "Oh we've still got dadima to speak to. She's not exactly very happy with this" she reminded.

"I won't be able to speak to her till later, I've got a meeting in an hour" he glanced at his watch briefly. "You can speak to her or wait till later" he looked at her.

"We can speak to her later" she answered. "How long will you be in the office for?" she asked curiously.

"After the meeting I'd be working till the end of my working hours. I'll be home around 7 or 8. Why?" he glanced at her.

"No reason" she shrugged.

"Geet" Maan reached over for her hand and squeezed her hand gently. "What's up?"

"Well... I'm going to be bored at home" she muttered softly. "Dadima isn't anyways talking to anyone, Meera and Vikrant are obviously going to spend the day together at her house, I've taken the day off and Amelia is probably at work so she wouldn't be able to hang out with me" she informed.

"Wanna spend the day with me at the office?" he raised his brows.

"Really?" she looked at surprised and eager.

"Well I am asking Geet" he smirked.

"Wait what will I do there?" she frowned.

"How about you work for one day like a trial and change your mind about working for me?" he winked. "Hand in your resignation with Karan"

"Nice try" Geet laughed shaking her head at him. "But I don't mind working for one day, I'll like to see what it's like working there" she looked excited.

"One day I'd convince you to come work with me" he responded.

"Accha?" she looked at him amused.

"You know I will Geet" he added. "I've got years of experience in my pocket Geet so I think you should start considering it"

"No, no" she shook her head. "I like where I am, I wouldn't be able to meet your perfection expectation"

"You'd be my only exception" he answered playfully. "I wouldn't want to fire my perfection"

Geet blushed biting her cheeks with his response.

"Well here we are" Maan gestured unbuckling his belt and stepped out joining Geet around the other side, he placed his hand at the small of her back leading her into the parking lift which takes them onto the ground floor.

Once they'd reached the ground floor, they stepped out and moved into Maan's personal elevator and he pressed his floor button.

"The building is too big" Geet commented as she watched the numbers moving upwards on the screen showing them which floor they're on and passing. "How many are working here?" she asked seemingly interested.

"In the main office we have around 650 people, all together in the business we have around 35,000 people working for us, that's including all the bases from the other countries" he stepped onto his floor with Geet.

Geet had been here before but the vast space seemed too silent for her, she wondered how he worked alone in his own floor. Didn't he feel alone?

She offered him a small smile and followed him into his office.

"I can arrange for someone to show you around, hopefully I'd be done with this meeting" he told her as they walked into his office. Maan walked around to his desk gathering his files and laptop bag whilst Geet stood by the door watching him silently.

"What do you say?" he looked at her for an answer.

"Um yeah sure" she shrugged. "Can't I work for today?" she asked.

"I was only joking about work Geet, once I finish the meeting and we can do something else together" he suggested. "I don't want you working on your day off"

"Nahi it's okay, I'll do the one day trial idea thing. It's probably my only chance of working in your business" she stared at him excitedly.

"You're serious about this?" he raised his brows at her coming to stop in front of her.

"Yeah" she nodded looking pleased and eager, Maan only agreed already liking that she'd be around the building even if they were both going to be working.

"Alright, I'll send Aditya or someone else over to show you around. I've got to get going" he glanced at his watch. "I'll see you in about an hour, till Aditya can see to you make yourself here" he pointed to the cabin.

"Hmmm, okay" she nodded.

"How's your head?" he touched the small bruise.

"It's good, I'm still standing and I'm fine" she grinned up at him.

"Alright fine, if you say so. I'd like to get it checked though" he looked at her concerned touching the small bump.

"It was technically your fault" she giggled.

"Oh really? I'm sorry my kiss distracts you" he lowered his head cradling her cheek.

"Maan..." she whispered closing her eyes.

"I'll be sure to only kiss you in our bedroom" he muttered into her ear. "I don't want my pretty wife getting hurt again"

Her cheeks grew hot and she blushed furiously. "Aap ko meeting pe nahi jana?" she questioned clearing her throat.

"Hmmm, I'm going" he pressed a kiss to her temple and grabbed his things. "I'll send Aditya over, he'll see to you" he gave a wave and walked out.

Geet turned around watching him retreat, she looked around his office and stepped out his cabin looking at the large space of emptiness.

"Aditya" Maan called out as he stepped onto the 4th floor where the meeting was being held, he passed on his laptop and his files over to Marilyn. "Has Mr Rico arrived?" he questioned Marilyn before she walked away with his things.

"No sir, he's called to say he's stuck at traffic. He'll be around 5 minutes late" she informed.

"5 minutes for him is 10" Maan sighed heavily cursing the traffic. "Alright. I don't want him any later than 10 minutes. Call him up and inform him, I have got a conference call booked in" he waved her away then turned to Aditya who stood beside him waiting.

"On my floor" Maan continued walking ahead. "My wife is waiting" he glanced at Aditya who's jaw dropped and his eyes widened. "Any problem?" Maan narrowed his eyes.

"No, sir. Nothing" Aditya shook his head quickly.

"Show her around, unless Geet introduces herself as my wife don't utter a word to anyone"

"Yes Sir" Aditya nodded.

"Make sure she is treated well and looked after-ed" he walked into the conference room closing the door on Aditya's face.

"Okay..." Aditya murmured to himself. "If sir is like this after marriage as well, I wonder how is his wife?" he wondered to himself. "Probably a carbon copy of him"

"Excuse me?" Aditya peered into Maan's office. "Hello Ma'am" he looked around for the woman who was now his boss' wife. "Ma'am" he called out louder.

"I'm here" Geet ducked out from under Maan's desk making Aditya yelp.

"Oh sorry" Geet mumbled seeing the man looked at her shocked. "Uh hi" she waved gingerly. "I kinda..." she held up the papers for Aditya. "I dropped these papers and tried putting them back in order but I don't know what order Maan has them in" she confessed.

No wonder sir hasn't changed, his wife is a disaster queen. Exactly the kind of woman sir hates here he plastered a smile however he was surprised seeing his boss' wife being a small petite childlike woman, he'd expected a woman tall, model like skinny and looking just as stern as his boss.

"I'll sort it out Ma'am" Aditya walked around holding his hand out, Geet handed him the file with the papers half hanging out and some still on the floor.

"Why are you calling me Ma'am? You're like older than me" she muttered furrowing her brows.

"Well you're my boss' wife so that makes you like our boss as well" he bent down grabbing the rest of the papers.

"Oh my days" Geet laughed at his response. "You're making me sound old, I prefer to be just called Geet" she held out her hand. "Does everyone know I'm here?" she asked quietly as if someone would be able to hear her.

"No, sir has only told me" he answered shaking her hand.

"That's great then, don't tell anyone" she told him. "You didn't give your name?"

"Aditya" he replied.

"Your full name, in case I need to tell over you to Maan" she responded.

"Aditya Rajesh Ali Singhania Malhotra" he informed.

Geet's eyes widened at his name. "Yeh... aapka naam hai?"

"Yes Ma'am, dadaji ne rakka hai. He wanted me to be unique from everyone else" he chuckled. Geet giggled unable to hold back.

"Okay" Geet composed herself. "Just call me Geet and now can we look around?" she asked looking at him eagerly.

"Sure Ma'am" Aditya nodded. "But first I'll leave this on Sir's desk in case he comes looking for these" he placed the pile of paper on Maan's desk.

"What if he..."

"I'll tell him I'd done it accidentally" Aditya cut her off.

"I can't let you do that, I'll explain to him" Geet countered. "It's my mistake"

"Let's just do it before we go" he quickly went through the papers, Geet only stared amazed at how fast his fingers worked, within a minute everyone was in order and in the file just as neatly as Maan left it.

"There done," he placed the file down. "Let's go" he gestured to the lift.

"I thought that's the lift" she pointed to the lift she'd used.

"That Sir's lift, only he can access it. He has the key, unfortunately I don't have a copy" he told her pressing the next level floor button.

Geet had just finished looking around the entire building, despite only spending around two to three minutes going around each floor it'd taken an hour and a half to see the whole building, Aditya had even showed her the canteen to the stationary cupboard.

She returned back to Maan's floor as Aditya had a conference to attend to which was outside the building, he'd only left after he saw her to the lift ensuring she'd be going straight back to Maan's floor. He didn't want to risk losing his job if he'd left her alone.

She moved closer to Maan's cabin stopping outside the open door hearing him talking on the phone, she tried her best not to hear but then Maan sounded completely different, she peered slightly into the room and found him on his chair staring right ahead at the screen, she watched in awe as he talked authoritatively and discussed about some sort of merger, she smiled inwardly seeing how he was so focused and to the point. She'd seen a lot of different sides to her husband but hadn't caught a glimpse of him in working mode, Maan stood continuing to talk as he looked through a file, he looked over at the screen pointing out a clause stressing on something about it.

"I want this changed Mr Scott, the profits are going to be large and I don't want my business to receive the lower end, I won't be going ahead with this. We'll revisit this, we'll book another appointment" Maan pulled his diary and looked through it. "How's next week at 7pm work out for you? That's the only slot I have left" he questioned.

"That's fine with me Mr Khurana, nice talking to you" he responded.

Maan nodded and cut the conference call, he turned to see Geet stood by the door. "You're back already?"

"I was gone for over an hour" she replied stepping inside.

"So how's the office?" he looked at her curiously.

"Office? I'd say it was like a thousand offices" she chuckled. "But it's really nice. I liked the tour, Aditya even took me to the roof break room. It's so beautiful out there, standing so high and being able to look around"

"Hmm" he hummed. "Dadima suggested a break room on the roof, she wanted to have the employees being able to go and enjoy their break instead of having go so many floors down just to catch a break" he informed.

"It's a really good idea, I like the balcony break rooms each floors has as well. It's pretty cool" she added.

"Have I convinced you yet?" he lifted his brows.

"Umm... probably not yet" she winked.

Maan laughed shaking his head at her. "What do you want to do now? Work?"

"Actually I've changed my mind, I don't think I can do this one day trial"

"Why?" he frowned curiously.

"After seeing you doing the conference and me looking around, I don't think I can match anyone's perfection here. I messed your papers up before, I spent 10 minutes trying to put it in order, Aditya just shuffled and did something in his hands and suddenly they're in order and put on the desk"

"Geet I'm not expecting perfection from you, well from anyone in fact. We're all humans and we make mistakes. I made a mistake myself just today in the meeting" he admitted. "The employers here just do everything properly because one mistake can causes losses of thousands. We want the money coming from the projects, it's how everyone get their pay. If the work is exceeding the expectation of clients then there are bonuses involved"

"Umm... still. I wouldn't be able to work like them. I'd probably be paranoid throughout the entire day" she muttered.

"Okay fine, how about we do something else? I don't have anything lined up" he flicked through his diary.

"Okay" she shrugged. "What have you got in mind?"

"I don't know, I just suggested it" he responded. "What would you like to do?"

"Actually... I was hoping we could go ice skating again" she muttered.

"Alright, we'll head home and change" he closed his diary tidying his desk.

Chapter 54

Geet had changed into her chunky beige jumper and black leggings as dresses or jeans won't do her any good on the skating rink, she'd twisted her hair into a messy bun.

Maan had worn black pants with a black turtleneck sweater and was waiting downstairs for his wife to join him and she'd finally joined him looking eager and excited.

Unlike last time Geet didn't have to cling to Maan, she was also much more comfortable and was easily able to hold onto her husband's hand. Both skated alongside each other, Geet often reaching out for his arm or hand if she'd feared she was going to stumble down.

Maan came to a stop hearing the insistent ringing on his phone, he'd cut the few calls but it continued, he asked Geet to continue and stepped outside the skating rink answering his phone which apparently couldn't wait according to the other caller.

Geet continued, she slinked smoothly and as Maan taught her slid along the ice keeping her feet apart bringing one forward followed by the other.

"Whoa easy there princess" an arm shot out sliding across her waist keeping her up from falling, Geet looked up at the stranger who'd just saved her from falling.

"Thanks" She smiled uneasily righting herself up, her eyes drawn to Maan who was still on the phone but his eyes narrowed in their direction.

"No problem" The stranger grinned. "First time?"

"Uh no. Second" she answered politely. "Excuse me" she slid away before he asked her anything else, she glanced over her shoulder and found the stranger smile at her before he moved away. Geet kept her eyes averted from Maan, she didn't even want to know who he was angry at, she didn't want to the bear the brunt of his anger if it was directed towards her. Maan finished the call and watched silently as Geet skated, he'd felt anger when the stranger had caught his wife and touched her, he'd never been jealous, he hadn't ever experienced it till Geet. He didn't want to step back inside the rink whilst he was still burning with fury, in case he'd lash his anger out at Geet. So he watched and admired his wife gathering his bearings together, once he'd composed himself he joined her. Geet seemed wary of his presence the first few minutes but Maan seemed okay so she smiled holding his hand and continued.

"Maan can I ask something?" Geet broke the silence in their room, they'd decided to eat in the cafe, despite being normal towards each other there was an awkwardness that had settled between them, during dinner they'd barely talked as well, the drive back was also silent.

"Hmm?" he hummed in response looking up from his phone.

"How come you got angry?" she questioned slowly sitting beside him on the sofa. "When that..." she paused turning her head and looked at him. "man stopped me from falling"

"I... I wasn't angry" he replied sighing and spoke again. "I didn't like the idea of him touching you" he admitted surprising Geet.

"What?" she muttered.

Maan placed his phone down and looked at her. "I got jealous seeing him touching you Geet" he informed. She closed her eyes when he reached up cradling her cheek and brought her face closer. "I feel something for you Geet..." he pressed his lips against her soft cheeks. "I'm falling for you"

Geet bit down on her lip swallowing thickly, she drew back opening her eyes and looked up at him in admiration and feeling overwhelmed, Maan smiled faintly pulling away but she clung to him sliding her arms around his middle and pressed her head on his shoulder to which he responded sliding his arms around her waist and held her.

"You're not the only one falling" she whispered ever so softly.

Maan tightened his arms around her tilting his head, his fingers cupping her cheek and making her look at him, her fingers splayed against his firm chest. He didn't say anything but slowly leaned forward, he stopped.

"Geet..." he paused looking down at her uncertainly.

She nodded blushing understanding his silent question, her eyes closing and she felt the firm press of his lips against her soft lips, the touches of their lips tentative and shy, and her fingers slowly crawled up and held onto his shoulders loosely, his hand pressing at the small of her back and the other cradled her cheek. They shared a soft delicate butterfly kiss, her heart fluttered, his heart pounded. The soft caresses of his lips were gentle, shy, in that moment they felt closer to each other than ever before, it was as if all distant between them was sealed, Geet parted her lips responding back instinctively.

She gasped softly when he cautiously drew in her lower lip and deepened their kiss, her fingers loosened around his shoulders and found them sliding around his neck and touching the ends of his hair. She arched pressing her soft limp front against his firm toned chest, his hands tightened around her waist pressing her further, a deep thick groan escaping from his throat with a soft moan escaping from hers.

Both slowly broke apart breathing heavily, Geet had her eyes closed, her arms still around his neck, she was leaning against Maan, her knee almost over his thigh. They hadn't noted much of anything but the feel of their first kiss, both their cheeks were warm and both were blushing. Maan pressed his forehead against hers smiling faintly, whilst Geet realised she was almost sitting on his lap, she squirmed and hurried to move when he encircled his arm around her pulling her close.

"Don't move" he muttered lowering his head and pressing a small kiss to the side of her neck, she smiled shyly wrapping her arms around his neck and hugged him warmly.

"If I knew before I'd feel like this, I'd have kissed you ages ago" Maan whispered teasingly into her ear.

"Maan" Geet chuckled shyly pressing her eyes closed.

"Whose phone is that?" Maan asked hearing it vibrating, Geet looked over her shoulder and realised it was her phone going off. She moved and stood grabbing her phone. Maan was about to ask her to not answer it but his phone went off at the same time, Geet moved away answering her phone whilst Maan reached over for his to answer it.

"Geet bete aap ghar pe hai kya?" Dadima questioned.

"Haan dadima. Why are you asking?" She answered back confused.

"Kahan hai? I knocked on your door but you didn't answer"

"Oh..." Geet bit down on her lower lip wondering what excuse to give dadima along with that however her mind drew back to their first kiss.

"Geet" Dadima called.

"Huh... Actually dadima I was in the washroom" Geet replied.

"Oh, but why didn't Maan open the door?"

"Maan..." Geet couldn't exactly say they were busy with each other, she looked over at Maan who stared back at her curiously. "Woh... dadima Maan... has gone to sleep early"

Maan who heard her excuse started laughing silently, Geet pouted looking away.

"Accha?" Dadima responded. "If Maan has gone to sleep early, how is he talking to Karan bete?" she queried and started laughing. Geet now understood, Maan wasn't laughing at the excuse she made but at her.

"Dadima main rakhti hoon" she cut the call hearing dadima laugh louder and could hear Vikrant say something in the background as well.

"I'm coming down" Maan told Karan and cut the call. "Geet I didn't know I talk in my sleep" he looked at her amused.

"Well... you should have told me. Now they're not going to leave me alone" she complained.

"I won't let them tease you" he responded standing up and moved towards her. "Let's go down, dadima wants us for some reason"

"I'm not going to come down, that Vikrant is back and he's going to probably say something... wait didn't dadima stop talking to Vikrant?" she frowned.

"Oh yeah" Maan was now curious how Vikrant seemed to have won over dadima so soon.

"C'mon let's go and see what's going on" he gestured to which she agreed to.

"I thought bhai was sleeping" Vikrant was first to speak as soon as they joined them in the living room. Geet scowled at Vikrant whilst Maan shot a glare his way.

"I thought dadima stopped talking to you" Geet replied smirking.

"Geet bete I'm not talking to him" Dadima informed.

"Seriously bhabhi I was almost winning Dadima over" Vikrant groaned.

"No you weren't, you were being lectured" Karan pointed out. "At how irresponsible you are. If you can't handle your drink you shouldn't be drinking"

"It's as if I committed a murder or something, I only married her"

"Vikrant marriage isn't some plaything, it comes with responsibilities. You say you love Meera, how much do you actually love her? You're still being looked after-ed by me, Maan is also taking care of you, he's hired you but you don't even last a full proper day at work" Dadima countered. "Marriage isn't a game nor is life. This is a big decision for you and Meera, would you be able to provide for Meera? Ensure her safety all the time?"

"Dadima..." Vikrant started.

"No listen to me" Dadima held her hand up stopping him from speaking further. "I'll get you married to Meera but you're going to move into the outhouse"

"Dadima" Maan cut in wondering where dadima was going with this.

"Maan" She gave him a look that silenced him, she then turned back to Vikrant. "You have to provide for your wife, you prove that to me for the first 3 months you can move back in here. I want her family to be able to call you their son in law proudly Vikrant, I want you to prove to yourself and Meera's family you're able to provide for your wife" She cradled his cheek. "Don't be dependent on anyone, not even your own family because in the end the only person that won't deceive you is you, everyone else can leave you in the middle"

Maan knew what dadima meant, she was clearing speaking of Gayatri Khurana, his jaw clenched as he stared at the forlorn and confused look on Vikrant's face.

"You're going to do it?" Dadima stared expectantly at him.

"Hmm..." he hummed uneasily, dadima patted his cheek and pressed a kiss to his forehead.

"Dadima why have you called us" Maan changed the subject.

"Haan I'm inviting Meera's parents around this weekend so I want you all here. Geet bete you can call Amelia down as well and Karan make sure you bring Araina and your mother. I'm hoping to just get them engaged for the time being then will work out the wedding details" She informed.

"I'll call Ranbir over" Vikrant added.

"Haan teek hai" Dadima agreed. "I just want the engagement to be a small affair, I don't want anyone else knowing about the marriage" she looked at Vikrant.

"I've not told anyone else" he answered. "But someone else has" he pointed to Karan.

"I only told Araina, and she's bound to find out anywhere" Karan shrugged.

"Bete in your family nothing stays in one place, I'm sure Araina has spread it everywhere else. She's going to be a lawyer, she should know about client confidentiality"

"Dadima Vikrant isn't a client" Karan pointed out.

"Suppose he was? What's she going to do with her client's details?"

"Dadima whatever, ask her when she comes this weekend" Karan rolled his eyes.

"Khair dinner is probably ready, come and eat now" She stood to her feet.

"Me and Geet have ate" Maan informed.

"Teek hai bete" Dadima nodded and looked at the other. "Have you ate or are you coming?"

"We're coming" Karan stood up. "I'm starving"

"Don't you eat anything at the office?" Dadima questioned him as they walked away with Vikrant following behind them.

"Are you going to sleep?" Maan turned his head to her.

"It's getting late, so I was just going to read something then sleep" She replied.

"Alright, don't wait up then. I'm going to work for a while then probably go to the gym" he informed her, she nodded in response. He smiled and walked away to his home office, Geet climbed the stairs and retreated into their room.

She did as she said, she'd settled with a book on their bed leaning against the headboard, an hour later she placed her bookmark and placed the book on the nightstand. She climbed out of bed having forgotten to close their balcony door and went to close it, she stepped out onto their balcony looking at the night sky.

Geet shuddered when she suddenly felt his arms around her waist, she leaned back closing her eyes when he dipped his face into the hollow of her neck, she bit down on her lip when she felt his lips at the side of her neck, her hands covered his and she unknowingly dug into his skin, his arms tightened around her holding her close to him.

Geet drew in a gasp, she released her hold turning around swiftly throwing her arms around his neck pressing her body against his front. Maan hugged her back tightly almost lifting her off her feet. Maan moved with her till he had her pressed against the wall, his hands cupping her nape and tilting her head up.

Geet nudged him when he only continued to look down at her, he smirked raising his brows in amusement.

"If you're not going to do anything then leave me alone na?" she muttered.

"Do you want me to do something?" he chuckled leaning closer to her.

"M...Maan" she whispered slowly.

"Hmm..." he slowly lowered his head.

"There's a scorpion on your shoulder" she yelped jumping away, Maan looked down seeing the small spider scurrying away, he turned and noticed Geet had closed the door locking him outside and she'd even snapped the curtains closed.

"Geet open the door, it's a spider" he knocked on the glass door.

"Kill it first" she called out.

"I won't be killing a spider Geet. It's just a spider, there's nothing to be afraid of" he answered.

"There is, they can bite" She countered.

Maan sighed and bent down cupping the spider in his palms and placed it on the wall, the spider scurried down the wall. "Now it's gone" he informed.

"Promise"

"If I'm lying you don't ever have to kiss me" he chuckled.

"If you don't stop teasing me I won't let you in" she answered.

"If you don't open it I'm going to break the door and come in, after that I'll be sure to tell dadima why you didn't open the door earlier"

Geet opened the curtains gaping at him in disbelief. "You wouldn't?"

"I would, I'll tell her you were busy kissing me" he winked.

"I'm not opening the door now" she crossed her arms in front of her.

Maan rolled his eyes reaching into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet, Geet watched curiously, Maan smirked showing the key he held, he slid into place and turned the lock, he slid the glass door open and stepped inside locking it behind him.

He looked over at Geet who stared in disbelief with her jaw dropped.

"Close your mouth Geet, a spider might climb inside" he nudged her chin and walked away into the washroom.

"I take back my words" she called out. "I'm not falling for you"

"I know" He responded back. "You've already fallen for me"

"I don't like you anymore Maan" she climbed into the bed inwardly cursing to herself, she looked up when he opened the door.

"I know, you more than like me" he smirked strolling out of the washroom, shirtless.

"Wear a shirt or something" she looked away.

Maan laughed moving to the edge of the bed, he leaned down placing his palms flatly against the bed and looked at her. Geet slowly turned and stared at him.

"I'll see you in a bit" he surprised her when he dropped a peck to her lips. He then straightened and walked out with a towel hung around his neck. Geet shook her head with a smile snuggling into their bed and pulled the blanket to her neck blushing, heat coursed through her as she thought of their day, she turned onto the other side recalling his words, there was a time when she'd thought she'd never be able to love her husband, she hadn't expected being loved by him either but... he's falling for her and she's fallen for him.

"What's this?" Geet looked down curiously as Maan handed her an envelope in the morning just before he was about to leave for work.

"It's an envelope Geet" he replied.

"Even I know what that is" she responded. "What's in it?"

"Geet it's a sealed envelope, to know what's inside we have to open it" he informed.

"Are you making fun of me?" she frowned throwing her hands on her hips.

"Are you giving me attitude?" he crossed his arms in front of him.

"Maan you gave the envelope so you know what is inside of it" she pouted.

"Did I say I gave it? I simply handed it to you" he answered.

She huffed opening the envelope, she pulled out the paper and opened it. "Yeh..." she trailed off seeing tickets and read the attached letter. "This says Disneyland Paris..." she looked at him confused.

"You really need me to explain it?" he lifted his brows.

"They're our holiday tickets?" she looked at him curiously.

Maan nodded.

She looked down at the tickets and back at him with a smile. "You're actually going to go to Disneyland?" she questioned. "I was really just joking about Disneyland"

"Good because they're fake. These are our tickets" he pulled out another envelope. "I thought we'd go to Greece" he informed.

"Wow, really?" Geet took the tickets and looked at it.

"We'll be staying in Santorini" he pointed, "I've booked it for the first week of next month. I just need time to close or reschedule some of my meetings and push some forward before I can take a break"

"I can't wait" she grinned. "Thank you" she slipped her arms around him.

"I should surprise you more often" he pressed a kiss to her head.

"Hmm" she nodded giggling. "Maan..."

"Hmm?"

"I like you again" she grinned playfully.

Maan laughed shaking his head at her and drew back reluctantly seeing as they both had work to go to. "Want me to drop you off?"

"No it's okay, I'm going to see Amelia first, apparently she's fallen ill. After that I'll be going office" she informed.

"Alright then, I've got to go" he glanced at his watch. "I'll see you tonight and keep those tickets safe somewhere" he pressed a kiss to her cheek and retreated.

This is my most favourite fiction. I have re read all the chapters numerous times but the giddy feeling that i get every time doesn't diminish. The way maan and geet's relationship is progressing, the comfort they share now, they make me fall in love again n again.
I love how you portray each emotion so beautifully. Also I would like to apologise for not commenting regularly.
hope to read another newer update soon. Keep up the good work.
