When I read the title, I had expected something to showcase 'survival of the fittest' theory but hadn't imagined something like this. Honestly I stay away from things like this be it in shows or stories, because hardly anyone does justice and that pisses me off and disturbs my mind. Its unfair what a woman has to go through just because she came under the scanner of a HIS' lust. They are his feelings, so control your damn problem or kill yourself before acting like an animal. That's an insult to animals actually, as a wildlife documentary watcher I know sometimes animals show much more humanity than the human themselves.
I suppose it's shown in India a lot, which as an outsider I have seen a lot. They showed it even in one of Drashti's shows, its in movies and like you said then the female lead falls for her assaulter. It's demeaning and irrational, because human physiology teaches us that every time she faces him she'll remember that dark encounter, then why would she warrant herself to such an ordeal for the rest of her life. I think its plain stupid thinking by creatives.
I remember watching something of this sort in Eastenders (a British soap opera), Little Mo and Trevor. I watched it a million years ago (maybe 10-15yrs), I had only been a kid (no more than 5-7) but that storyline never left me the same. I watched little Mo reach for the iron and bash it across her rapist husband who died almost immediately. She was a victim of abuse, she had 4 younger sisters all with strong characters, but she wasn't like them. She wore long skirts and sleeved shirts to hide her battered body and a beautiful smile to camouflage the insults thrown her way by her husband. I remember thinking of her as an weak individual. She was almost mute to the point no reaction, scared like anything and had extremely low self-esteem. I hadn't expected her to make such a move but when she did a part of me was relieved, finally I watched Little Mo fight for herself. But after Trevor's death I saw how guilt took over, being feeble little Mo it was expected. Then the court cases showed her insanity, but soon she grew to understand what she did was needed. An outlay of mixed emotions were shown. She was even on the verge of killing herself at one point, but in the end she won her battle and she walked scot free. Afterall it was in self-defence.
Your Geet character reminded me of Little Mo who was buried in a part of my brain which I locked up because it reminds me of the trauma, she and her family went through. I won't say what Geet did was right, because ideally I believe he should have been sentenced to life or something like that. But logistically I know there's no idealism in such a heinous act. She fought for her survival, if that meant the end of her rapist then so be it. No one should be the Geet or Little Mo in life, no woman deserves such a thing.
Thank you for showing an acceptable ending.
Its very shocking reality that women taken for granted for everything. Marital rape was worse than other rape. In other rapes we can complaint again the rapist and can get justice also. But almost all women who were victims of marital rape never get courage to complaint against their husband b'coss f what people think about them.
It was worse when some her parents force her to marry that rapist.
I liked geet killed her husband got justice by herself when her mother in law or police did nothing.
Great os T
