Maan recieved a tight slap on his face shocking both Khuranas and Kapoors.
"Maan Singh Khurana tumne meri beti ko ek vai...(unable to even say the word) banna ke chodh diya hai. Tumne kabhi socha hai ki agar mera beta, Avinash tumhari bholi-bhaali behan ke saath yeh sab kare jo tumne Gayatri ke saath kiya hai toh tumhe kaisa lagega?" (Maan Singh Khurana, you have made my daughter a pros...(unable to even say the word). Have you ever thought if the samething my son, Avinash does to your innocent sister, that you have done with Gayatri, how will you feel?)
"UNCLEEE!" Maan thundered.
"Uncle nahi "Mr. Kapoor" kaho. Tum mujhe "uncle" kehne ka haq kho chuke ho." (Not uncle, say "Mr. Kapoor". You have lost the right to call me uncle.) Looking at his family, Ram said, "Priya, Meera aur Avi, abhi ke abhi yahaan se chalo. Iss aalishaan bangle mein mera dam ghutta hai." (Priya, Meera and Avi, let's leave right now. I can't even breathe in this affluent mansion.)
Before Ram could step out, Maan said, "Mr. Kapoor, aap bina poora sach jaane jaa rahe hain." (Mr. Kapoor, won't you like to know the full truth?)
"Aur kya hai battane ko iss sharmnaak harqat ke baad?" (What else is there to know more after your disgusting behaviour?)
"Mr. Kapoor, Geet mere saat ek raat bitaane ke liye sirf tab tyaar hui thee, ki jab mai uske saath sab reeti aur riwaazon ke saath shaadi karne ke liye maana. Iss liye hum dono ne mandir mein jaa kar sab reeti aur riwaazon ke saath shaadi ki. Geet aur maine saat phere liye, maine Geet ko mangalsutra pehnaya aur uski maang bhi bhari." (Mr. Kapoor, Geet only agreed to spend a night with me if I married her with all Hindu rites and rituals. Hence, we went to a temple and got married according to all Hindu rites and rituals i.e. Geet and I went around the fire 7 times, I tied a mangalsutra around Geet's neck and then filling her parting with vermilion (sindoor).) Maan said showing Geet and his one and only wedding photograph as a proof.
"KYA?? Iska matlab pichale chhe saal se Gayatri shaadi shuda hain aur hummei patta bhi nahi hai?" (WHAT?? Gayatri was married for past 6yrs. and we didn't even know?)
"Aapko kabhi shaq nahi hua uske gale mein mangalsutra dekh kar?" (Didn't you suspect seeing Geet's mangalsutra?) Savitri Devi enquired.
"Mujhe shaq toh hua thaa. Aur jab bhi mai uss mangalsutra ke baare mein poochti Gayatri humesh kehti ki Rudra bhaisaheb aur Parvati didi ne usse buri nazar se bacchane ke liye pehnaya hai." (I was suspicious but whenever I asked about it Gayatri always said that it was put in her to ward off evils by her parents.) Priya answered.
"Agar tumne Geet se sachi shaadi ki thee toh usse choda kyun?" (If you got married to Geet with all Hindu rites and rituals, then why did you abandon her?) Ram demanded.
"Maine Geet ko nahi choda Mr. Kapoor, woh hi achanak ek din gayab ho gayi." (I didn't abandon her Mr. Kapoor, she only one fine day disappeared.)
Maan further narrated his meeting Gayatri six years later and her looking like identical to Geet but that was where similarity ended. Gayatri did not recognise Maan but told him that she is Gayatri, Geet's cousin. Gayatri also informed Maan about Geet's demise in child birth along with the demise of the baby!
Rishabh continued where Maan left, "I WANTED TO SEND MAAN TO JAIL FOR RAPING A GIRL! But Garima said according to the law it can't be considered as rape as it was on mutual consent. Besides this it was also too late to convict Maan now as who will testify on victim's behalf? As neither was Geet (that's what we thought at that time) nor her baby is alive. There was also no proof or witness of Maan and Geet's marriage. Court proceedings are only based on proofs and witnesses hence we couldn't do much."
"Anyway, now that Geet is alive she can testify against Maan." Garima suggested. "I'll call you once papers are ready." Garima was going to get her office bag when Ram said,"Theriye Bhabhi!" (Wait Bhabhi!)
Making Khuranas surprised. "Abhi bhi hum Maan ko sazaa nahi de sakte kyunki Maan ke crime ka koi witness nahi hai." (We still cannot prosecute Maan as still there is no witness.)
"Yeh aap kaise keh sakte hain bhaisaheb? Geet toh..." (How can you say that? Geet is...)
"Geet yaa Gayatri apni poori yaadasht kho chukki hai." (Geet or Gayatri has lost her full memory.)
"Matlab?" (Meaning?)
"Rudra aur Parvati bhabhi ki death ke ek saal baad mujhe unki mauth ke baare mein patta chala jab Gayatri ki tabiyat bahut kharaab hone lagi toh Diwaanji ne mujhe ghabra kar phone karaa. Priya aur mai jald se jald Bharat aaye aur hummei Gayatri ki pregnancy ka patta chala. Bahut baar poochne par bhi usne apne bacche ke pitah ka naam nahi battaya. Sirf yeh kaha ki bacche ke pitah ne sirf uske saath apna mann behla kar Gayatri ko chodh diya. Din beete gaye aur Gayatri kamzor par kamzor hoti jaa rahi thee. Kuch kamzoori pregnancy ki wajeh se thee aur kuch kamzori apne pehle pyaar ko khone kaa dukh." (After a year of Rudra and Parvati bhabhi's death, when Gayatri's health started declining Diwaanji called me SOS. Priya and I came to India as soon as we possibly could and we found Gayatri pregnant. Despite of our continously asking who was her unborn baby's father she did not reveal his name. Gayatri only said that the her unborn baby's father used her for satisfying his lust and then left her. With each passing day Gayatri was getting weaker and weaker. Partly the weakness was due to her being pregnant and partly she was emotionally weak due to loosing of her first love!) Ram said glaring at Maan. "Jab hummein koi aur chaara nahi dekha to Priya aur maine Gayatri ko apne saath US le jaane ka socha. Hum log Gayatri ke US visa ke kaamon mein busy the ki ek din ek ladki jiska naam Naintara thaa Gayatri se milne aayi. Naintara ne kaha ki woh Gayatri ke college mein uski senior hai. Kyunki hummei US Embassy jaane mein der ho rahi thee humne zayaada pooch-taach nahi ki aur Gayatri bhi usse jaanti thee. Jab hum laut ke aaye toh humari poori duniya hi badal gayi." (When we found nothing working, Priya and I decided to take Gayatri with us to US. Priya and I were busy in applying for US visa of Gayatri, when a young girl named Naintara came to meet her. Naintara said that she was Gayatri's senior in college. As Gayatri knew Naintara as well as we were getting late for going to US Embassy, hence we didn't enquire much. When we returned our whole world had changed.) Ram stopped remembering the tragic past.
Just then Nakul came running,"Chote Maalik, chote maalik aapka phone." (Sir, Sir call for you.) Rishabh took the call and said, "Haan haan, kal dus baje theek hai." (Yes, yes tomorrow 10:00a.m. is fine.)
"Maan, kal Government officials aa rahe hain Noida aur Delhi ke beech jo naya highway bann raha hai uske blueprints dekhne." (Maan, tomorrow Government officials will be arriving to see the blueprints of new highway to be constructed from Noida to Delhi.) Thereby stopping further conversation. Ram also wanted leave so Rishabh was calling their driver to drop Kapoors when Vicky said,"Dad mai chodh aata hoon." (Dad I'll drop them.)
"Theek hai beta." (Alright son!)
"Mr. Khurana aapko taqleef karne ki zarurat nahi hai hum taxi se chale jaayenge." (Mr. Khurana, please don't inconvenience yourself we will book a taxi.) Ram said feeling very awkward taking help from his enemy's family.
But Rishabh insisted, "Ram yeh Delhi hai aur abb raat ke 12 baje hain. Tumhare saath duo ladies bhi hain. Khurana parivaar chahta thaa ki aap sab aaj raat yaheen rok jaayiye magar Ranawat Mansion mein Geet akeli hogi, iss liye hum aap sabko rok nahi rahe." (Ram this is Delhi and its midnight. There are two ladies also travelling with you. Khuranas would have liked that all of you stay with us in KM, but as Geet is alone in Ranawat Mansion, we will not insist.)
Soon Vicky along with Kapoors left. Initially what had turned out to be a relaxing evening full of fun and laughter ended with hostility and sadness. Throughout the drive back home, only Priya was talking to Vicky. Rest of the family were sitting quitely in anger. On reaching Ranawat Mansion, Ram, Meera and Avinash got out of the car without even wishing Vicky "Goodnight" only Priya wished him and asked him to send a SMS once he reaches back to KM.
AN HOUR LATER
Ram, Meera and Avinash had changed and were in bed. Priya went to see how Gayatri was and found her to be sleeping peacefully, thereby relaxing Priya. Then Priya went to her room freshened up and changed into her night dress and came out of washroom to see Ram propped against pillows trying to read a book but he had not even turned one page since past 45minutes. Gathering her courage, Priya said, "Har kahani ke do pehlu hote hain aur har vykoti ka har situation dekhne ka nazariya alag." (There are two sides to every story! Similarly every individual has a different view point to each incident.)
"Tum kehna kya chahti ho?" (What do you want to say?)
"Hum sab Maan ko sazaa dene ke saath-saath poore Khurana khandaan ko bhi sazaa de rahe hain."(In order to punish Maan, we all are also punishing Khurana family.)
"Matlab?" (What do you mean?)
"Gunah toh Maan ne kiya hai, toh ismein Savitri Deviji, Rishabh bhaisaheb, Garima bhabhi, Vicky yaa Ankita ka kya dosh hai?" (Crime is done by Maan, then how are Savitri Devi, Rishabh bhaisaheb, Garima bhabhi, Vicky and Ankita at fault?)
"Tum kehna chahti ho ki mujhe Maan ko maaf kardena chahiye?" (You are saying that I should forgive Maan?)
"KABHI NAHI! Magar aap baaki parivaar ko kyun beqasoor hote huye bhi sazaa de rahe hain?" (NO! NEVER! But why are you punishing an innocent family for Maan's crime?)
"Geihun ke saath ghunn bhi pissti hai." (While grinding wheat even few innocent insects are ground.)
"Hum insaano ki baat kar rahe hain ghunn ki nahi." (We are talking about human beings not insects!)
Ram thought something and said,"Tum chahti ho ki mai Meera aur Vicky ki shaadi ke liye "haan" keh doon?"(You want me to give my approval for Meera and Vicky's marriage?)
"Haan. Kyunki Meera ko Vicky se accha ladka nahi milega." (Yes. Because I feel Vicky is the best life partner for Meera.)
"Tum yeh kaise keh sakti ho? Jiske bhai ne meri Geet ki izzat saare aam nilaam kardi toh woh Vicky pati ke roop mein kaisa hoga?" (How can you say that? The boy whose brother has ripped my Geet's honour and dignity to shreds, how will that boy Vicky be as a husband?)
"Aap bhool rahe hain ki Maan, Geet ka pati hai." (You are forgetting that Maan is Geet's husband.)
"KAISA PATI? KAISI SHAADI? Uss Maan Singh Khurana ne meri Geetu ke saath kayaron ki tehara shaadi ki sirf apni hawas poori karne ke liye."(HUSBAND? WHICH HUSBAND? WHAT MARRIAGE? That Maan Singh Khurana married my Geetu like a coward just to fulfill his lust.)
"Acch ek baat battaiye, agar aapko Maan ka sach nahi patta hota toh kya aap tab bhi iss shaadi ke khilaaf hote?"(Fine. Tell me one thing, if Maan had not told his truth to us, would you even then oppose Meera and Vicky's wedding?)
"Nahi. Mujhe bhi Vicky humari Meera ke liye sahi lagta hai. Magar woh Maan Singh..." (No! I like Vicky for our Meera. But that Maan Singh...)
"Aap teeno ko Maan par bahut gussa aa raha hai, yeh jaan kar ki Maan ne Gayatri ke saath kya kya kiya. Aur yeh gussa aana jaayiz bhi hai. Magar iss gusse ke kaaran aap sabne yeh nahi dekha ki Maan ne apna yeh ghinona sach hum sab ke saamne bina hichkichaiye batta diya. Woh chahta toh chuppa bhi sakta thaa yaa Meera aur Vicky ki shaadi hone ke baad battata. Tab hum kya karte siwaiye maayoos hone ke. Magar Maan ne bina darre apna sach sabke saamne rakh diya aur har tehara ki sazaa ke liye bhi tyaar hai. Maan ne sach battaya bina parwah kiye ki uske aisa karne se Khurana khandaan ki badnami hogi aur uske chote bhai ki shaadi bhi toot sakti hai." (You three are furious at Maan after knowing his truth. That anger is correct. But under the influence of that anger, none of you have noticed that Maan told his disgusting truth in front strangers without even sugarcoating it. If he wanted he could have hidden it or revealed it after Meera and Vicky's wedding. If he had done so, we could have not done anything but felt helpless on finding the truth. But Maan without any fear revealed his heinous crime and is willing to bear any punishment. He did not even once think that by his telling the truth his family's prestiage will be ruined or his younger brother's matrimonial alliance will be rejected.) Making Ram speechless hearing the truth.
Seeing her husband calming slightly, Priya continued, "Bacche agar galti...(Ram glared at Priya) mera matlab hai ki agar bacche gunah karte hain aur usse qabool bhi karte hain toh hum badhon ko unki sahita karni chahiye naa ki unse peeth modhni chahiye. Abb hum sab ko yeh dekhna chahiye ki Maan aur Geet ko wapis ek kaise karen." (Children often make mist...(Ram glared at Priya) I mean children may do crime but if they confess it we elders should support them after their confession not alienate them. We elders should now also think how to make Maan and Geet one again.)
Unknown to Ram and Priya their this conversation was heard by their children.
