Location: KHURANA MANSION, NEW DELHI @ 11:30a.m.
After the grah pravesh, the flustered parents fed their cranky children and made them sleep in Maan's (Maan and Geet's) room. Geet went and freshened herself as Manu was very cranky and throwing a temper tantrum thereby spilling his milk all over on Geet and her saree.
After Geet had bathed and worn a bright and festive saree, she was on her way out of the room when Maan stopped her holding her palla.
"Geet kuch der mere saath raho iss kamre mein. Yeh kamra jo mere pyaar se meri judaai ka dard ka byaaan karta hai. Yeh kamra jismei tum hi tum basti ho." (Geet please stay with me in this room for sometime. This room which has been a witness to my pain due seperation from my love. In the room where you are present in each and every corner.) Maan said swooping Geet in his arms.
"Kya matlab hai aapka?" (What do you mean?)
"Aao mai dekhta hoon!" (Come I'll show you.) Maan said still carrying Geet in his arms to the attached study of his room.
Geet was taken back seeing her laminated pictures in different attires and poses. There was a picture of her wearing the black and gold lengha,
a picture of her dancing at the Diwali mela in New York,
photograph of her in her white coat,
her photograph with her hair open when she washed that Sunday when Maan had visited her in her apartment in US. Along with her photos there was her payal and her locket (which she had seen in Maan's Mumbai office) Geet was overwhelmed with tears in her eyes, seeing Maan's love for her. But before Geet could express her feelings she was called, "Bhabhji, Dadimaa bula rahi hain." (Geet Ma'am, Dadimaa is calling you.)
Maan reluctantly put Geet on her feet and Geet left in a hurry straightening her saree and trying to calm herself. Maan was left flustered and irritated ready to bash Chandu who had come to call Geet. Maan decided to have a shower and calm himself.
Today, Khuranas were eating a late lunch due to Maan and Geet's arrival and children taking time to settle in. Earlier Geet had gone in the kitchen and made for Thakur Amardeep Singh some food of his choice as he was nagging Geet about his wife only feeding him "ubala aur beswaad khanna" (Boiled and tasteless food) since she had arrived. When Khuranas came to the dining table, everyone's plates were put on their respective places on the dining table, except Thakur Amardeep Singh and Savitri Devi's seat. Seeing a servant bringing dishes from kitchen, Thakur Amardeep Singh said in a raised and annoyed voice, "Aaj mera aur thaudi badi malkin kaa khaana nahi bannaya hai kya?" (Today you all have not made food for me and my wife?)
"Bade maalik, aaj aapka aur badi maalkin kaa khaana bahurani ne alag se bannaya hai aur woh abhi laati hongi." (Sir, today your lunch has been specially made by Geet ma'am. She will be bringing it soon.) Head of domestic help, Nakul said politely and respectfully.
Just then Thakur Amardeep Singh saw Geet walking in carrying a silver thaali followed by a servant carrying another silver thaali. "Daadu, aaj mangalwaar hai, toh aaj ke din aap aur dadi sirf shakahaari bhojan karte hain iss liye maine aapka khaana alag se bannaya hai, aap khaake battaiye kaisa banna hai?" (Daddu, today is Tuesday, both you and Dadimaa only have vegetarian food today. Hence, I have made special food for you. Please taste and tell me how is it?)
Seeing the thali, Thakur Amardeep Singh's face gleamed and he told his wife, "Dekha Savitri, meri Guddo ke aate hi mujhe vadiya khaana mil raha hai?" (See Savitri I'm getting good food as soon as my Guddo has come to our home.)
"Sirf khaana matt khaiye usse shagun bhi toh dijiye." (Don't only think about eating, give her a token as well.)
"Shagun? Kiss cheez ke liye?" (Token? For what?) Vicky asked.
"Arre beta, aaj pehli baar tumhari bhabhi ne shaadi ke baad khaana bannaya hai naa iss liye!" (Today your sister-in-law has for the first time cooked food after her wedding.) Savitri Devi explained .
"Haan Maa, sahi keh rahi hain. Mumbai mei toh Geet ki tabiyat theek nahi thee to rasoi pooja ho nahi paayi thee." (Yes Maa is right. In Mumbai, Geet felt sick so we could not do rasoi pooja there.) Janaki also supported Savitri Devi. Savitri Devi and Janaki left the dining table. After sometime Savitri Devi and Janaki returned carrying two jewellery pouches. One pouch Thakur Amardeep Singh gave Geet
and one pouch Ram gave.
Geet touched all the four elder's feet and gave to Maan pouches for safe keeping and rushed back into kitchen. Whereas Maan was sitting at his place enjoying seeing his Mishty being loved dearly by his family. Day by day he was understanding that in his stubborness and rejection of Geet without even looking at her photograph, how much he had hurt the four elders who loved him a lot and only wished for Maan's happiness. Also Maan realised that elders did not get carried by just the superficially outward beauty of Geet and her voice like Maan did. But his grandparents and parents saw Geet's internal beauty; warm & affectionate heart; resilience and grit which Maan could not! It was only due to Geet's resilience and grit, that Geet could stay seven years alone and bring up her nephew and then again stay alone for another three years and bring up twins.
Soon everyone settled down and started having lunch admist lot of jokes, fun and laughter. Happiest among all present was Thakur Amardeep Singh as finally he was able to bring Geet in Khurana Mansion as Khurana's daughter-in-law where she belonged. Once Geet had finished serving Thakur Amardeep Singh and Savitri Devi their lunch, then Geet served herself. Geet was about to sit down for lunch when Nakul's daughter, Lajjo came running to Geet, "Bhabhiji, bhabhiji, bachhe utth gaye hain aur aapko yaad karke ro rahe hain." (Ma'am, Ma'am, children have woken up and crying for you.)

"Lajjo, tu kuch der sambhaal nahi sakti thee? Guddo abhi abhi khaane ke liye beithi hai." Thakur Amardeep Singh said in an irritated tone. Rest of the family was also irritated seeing that Geet was about to have lunch. Maan was a little apprehensive as well as irritated because Geet had not eaten anything since morning in Mumbai and in flight as well. She had even got annoyed at him when he had smilingly answered an over friendly female flight attendant.
"Bade Maalik woh..."(Sir, they...)
"Beta, tum khaana khao mai dekh leti hoon." (My dear you eat, I will go and see to their neeeds.) Janaki offered.
"Nahi Maa. Bacche abhi so ke utthe hain toh dono bahut chidh-chidhye honge. Mai thodi der mein khaa loongi." (Thank you Maa. But the children have just woken up and are most irritable now. I'll eat a little later.)
Geet folded her hands in front of her plate and murmured some words and left with Lajjo for Maan and her room. (According to Hindu custom, food is considered as God and leaving a served plate untouched is like being disrespectful to God! Hence by folding her hands Geet was asking forgiveness from the Almighty!) Half an hour later, Maan came with Chandu carrying trolley with Geet's lunch. Seeing Manu still in a difficult mood, Maan went near him and said in a challenging manner, "Champ let's play video game. I know I will win and you will loose because you are a Mama's boy!"
"No Manu bill win. Manu not a giwl!" Manu got down from Geet's lap and stood with attitude, feet apart and hands crossed on his chest just like miniature MSK. Maan left carrying both Manu and Mini, one on either side. Geet requested Chandu to be there with Maan. Lajjo served Geet's lunch, Geet had just had few morsels of food and she had to rush to the bathroom and throw up. Geet was feeling queasy since morning but didn't tell Maan anything. She had also not eaten anything since morning, neither on flight nor on reaching KM, hence she fainted on bathroom's doorstep while coming out alarming Lajjo and Maan.
Seeing children relaxed and enjoying the video games, Maan had come to pick up his laptop so he could do his office work (before going to KC tomorrow) while children played video games. Seeing Geet unconscious, Maan carried Geet to the bed. Maan instructed Nakul, who had come to clear the tray, not to inform his parents or grandparents and send some juice for Geet. Maan also asked Nakul to send Nakul's wife, Gulabo and Lajjo to stay with children till Maan returns. Nakul went to the gaming room to ask Chandu to continue staying there with Gulabo and Lajjo.
Maan was patting Geet's cheeks and sprinkling water on Geet's face to revive her when Janaki walked in. Janaki was surprised and asked Maan, "Beta, Geet ko kya hua?" (Maan, whats wrong with Geet?)
"Patta nahi Maa mai toh bacchon ke saath gaming room mein thaa." (I don't know Maa, I was in gaming room with children.)
"Choti maalkin, Bhabhiji ko khaana khate-khate ulti aayi aur woh gussalkaane gayeen theen. Magar jab woh gussalkaane se nikaleen ek dam se behosh ho gayeen." (Ma'am, Geet Ma'am while eating was nauseaous and rushed to the bathroom. When she came out of the bathroom she fainted on its doorstep.)
"Maan, mere khayaal se hummei doctor ko bulana chajiye." (Maan, I think we should call the doctor.) Janaki suggested.
"Nahi Maa, agar doctor aaya toh Dadaji aur Dadimaa ko patta chal jaayegaa. Aap toh jaanti hain ki Dadaji Geet ko le kar kitne sensitive hain. Thodisi der aur dekhte hain. Agar Geet ko hosh nahi aaya toh mai khudh Geet ko hospital le jaaonga." (No Maa, if doctor comes, Dadaji aur Dadimaa will come to know. You know how sensitive Dadaji is regarding Geet's welfare. Lets wait for some more time, if she doesn't revive, I'll take her to hospital myself.)
While Maan and Janaki were talking Ram walked in as he was looking for Janaki and heard mother-son's conversation. Ram said, "Maan, der karna sahi nahi hai. Yaa toh hum doctor ko ghar bula laate hain yaa abhi ke abhi Geet ko hospital le jaate hain? Kyunki abhi toh bacche video games mein busy jaise jaise der hogi woh Geet ke paas aane ki zidd karenge." (Maan, I don't think its right to wait. Either we call doctor home or take Geet immediately to hospital? Because just now children are busy in their video games but soon they will want their mother.)
"Theek hai, Maa aap Geet ke paas beithiye aur Dad kya aap bacchon ke paas beith sakte hain? Mai Dr. Vidyarthi ko phone karke aata hoon." (Alright! Mom you stay with Geet while I call Dr. Vidyarthi. Dad, can you please stay with children?)
Luckily, Thakur Amardeep Singh and Savitri Devi use to take a nap in the afternoon, hence they were not there to question when Dr. Sushila Vidyarthi arrived. Geet had gained consciousness by the time Doctor arrived. Dr. Vidyarthi shooed everyone out of the room and started talking to Geet as one doctor to another. After half an hour, Dr. Vidyarthi came out and said, "Janaki, Geet is extremely weak and I believe she has not eaten anything since morning as she was feeling uncomfortable." She walked towards Maan and said,"Maan, I need to get some tests done, hence, please bring her to hospital tomorrow as I feel that she has either caught stomach infection or has had food poisoning. Please give her these medicines till then to make her feel comfortable. I would also caution you all against letting Geet carry the twins. See you tomorrow. Bye!" Maan went with Dr. Sushila Vidyarthi, paid her fees and profusely thanked her.
Vicky had just come from office and came to see the twins when he came to know about Geet's ill health. Vicky went to the gaming room so Maan could sit with Geet. Maan made children sit on his lap and explained to them patiently and lovingly that Geet is not well and hence can't carry them and they have to look after her. Initially they were a little scared seeing their mother lying on bed for first time, but later they relaxed seeing Geet talking to them and playing with them. Later at dinner time, Maan told Thakur Amardeep Singh and Savitri Devi that Geet was tired after flying and children were also very cranky without her, therefore, she went to bed early along with children.
NEXT MORNING
Location: KHURANA'S DINING TABLE at 8:00a.m.
Geet was still feeling queasy but on Janaki's insistence had tea and biscuits and went down for breakfast so as to not alarm Thakur Amardeep Singh and Savitri Devi. Seeing Geet on the dining table looking weak and pale, Savitri Devi said,"Guddo beta aap bahut kamzor aur thaki lag rahi hain. Humare khayaal se aap doctor ko dekha lijiye." (Guddo, you are looking very weak and tired. I think you should consult a doctor.)
"Haan Guddo, tum chaho toh mai aur Savitri tumhare saat chal sakte hain?" (Yes Guddo. If you want Savitri and I can come with you to the doctor.) Thakur Amardeep Singh offered.
"Dadaji aur Dadimaa, uski zarurat nahi hai! Aap dono chinta matt kariye maine doctor se dopahar ka appointment le liya hai Geet ke liye. Geet mujhe Khurana Constructions se pick up kar legi aur phir hum dono hospital jaayenge." (Dadaji and Dadimaa, please don't worry! I have fixed an appointment at 2:00p.m. To meet the doctor. Geet will pick me up from Khurana Constructions and we both will go together for her appointment.)
Thakur Amardeep Singh and Savitri Devi relaxed and rest of breakfast happened without at any untoward event.
At 1:00 o'clock aft both children were sleeping. Leaving Janaki and Lajjo with them, Geet went to get ready. Geet was not feeling very energetic, so she dressed simply. She wore orange and black printed cotton saree; put kajal(Kohl) in her eyes, sindoor in her parting and lip gloss; and her semi dried hair tied in a loose bun. Then she picked up her bag and left for Khurana Constructions after informing Janaki.
