part 4 - loved the first appearance of johan...he likes geet...both are uncomfortable...seems she was lost in maan's thought...he found her restless...nice wintage car...cont soon

She knocked on the door with one hand, her hand holding a small parcel in the other. Pari took a deep breath as she waited, and released it when she saw the door being opened.

"Good evening," Maan said, smiling warmly. "Welcome to my humble abode."

She stepped inside, startled by the crisp, fresh appearance of what he called home. It was such a stark contrast to the apartment she shared with Geet; clutter and mindless sculptures told the stories of their walls, yet his was painfully bare - almost as if there was no story to tell.

Maan led her through to the living area, where a few people were already gathered. The majority of the guests were locals, clad in cotton shirts and loose dresses; she noticed a few people stood offside near the kitchen. The golden skin tone led her to believe they were Indian, perhaps friends of his from back home.

"Do you want me to take that?" he appeared from behind her, making her jump. He gestured towards the parcel in her hand, she handed it over tentatively.

"It's a mug, before you ask. For your coffee."

"Ah right, thanks!" Maan seemed genuinely touched, and went to place it in a cabinet. The urge arose in her to explore - to see what lay hidden beneath the pillows, inside the cupboards. But she maintained control as she mentally reminded herself that sneaking around was not the way to uncover secrets; tactical behaviour and politeness was the only way to shed layers off his masked personality.

He arrived with a drink; a lemonade, and implored her to mingle. Usually bubbly and the soul of the party, Pari found herself less reluctant and willing to socialise. The confusion of Geet's face, the heightened behaviour Johan had displayed and Maan's cool persona seemed to unnerve her, like a never ending prickle on the back of her neck.

She perched herself on the arm of a sofa, sipping occasionally and keeping a trained eye on Maan without looking too obvious. Hence, when one of his friends had approached her, she was startled and jumped up in surprise.

"I'm so sorry, did I scare you?" he spoke with an English accent. She looked the green eyed man directly in the eye and smiled.

"Of course not. I'm sorry, I was just lost elsewhere."

"Rohit Malhotra. I'm an associate of Maan's."

"Pari Handa, I'm his next door neighbour."

As Rohit charmed her with his smiles and casual ways, her eyes kept straying to the staircase. He soon disappeared, leaving her with the promise of returning with another drink and she found herself walking out of the room and towards the steps.

Tactile behaviour and politeness had flown right out of the window. If she was to uncover anything about Maan's suspected connection to Geet, she had to do it here and now.

Sorry for the delay in updating my comment...

I'm surprised that one can read through so much from mere behavioral reactions as Pari did .. someone as infectiously lively as her I found it a lil mysterious that she gave those small reactions of the three others mentioned to such an extent that she wanted to toss away her etiquettes and become Holmes ! Hehee .. I wonder what she could decipher from her sister's reaction that she is so curious to know... Is this the first fluster pari that noticed in Geet..probably Haan..abhi Toh sirf entry hui hai Maan.ki.. aur Ghantiyaan bajni shuru?!! Haha
.. waiting to be on this Jasoos mission with her ..since I'm feeling much the same ! Hehee

Ohh haaayeee Imran Abbas and Ehem with the most alluring green coloured eyes!!
Btw ... My fav role of his was as Hammad in the ever-famous love saga Khuda aur Mohabbat... You know I still haven't watched the ending to it .. I know what happens..my bf cried over it for weeks .. it seems like everyone who watched the show were under its divine magic for weeks to come.. I, lil me didn't have the himmat to watch those pearls wash away ..
And might I add English accent.. does he get any more alluring !! Hehee ... First Rohit in a Ghsp fanfinction that I might like ..a lot !!
