PART 5
That night was different. Something had changed in that moment. Maan and geet had chatted almost the whole night while their train had crossed station after stations crossing borders of Orissa coming to west Bengal.
Geet suddenly noticed that it was almost dawn. She looked into maan's eyes and spoke," look maan its morning already... I want to watch the sunrise from the moving train..."
" you can sit by the window and watch geet..."
" are you kidding me maan? What's the fun in that? Let's stand near the door and watch while the train moves with such high speed..."
" no geet. It's not safe."
" but life is all about taking risks"
" who taught you such things??"
" We can argue later...come, please don't loose this moment... Pretty please..."
And she pulled him near the door of the compartment. Maan did not let geet stand to near the edge and kept his hand in front of her in a protective manner. The high speed of the train was letting the cool breeze hit his face making him relax. He smelt the raw smell of nature and then looked ahead towards the far horizon. Orange hue was spreading its warmth while the sun was rising.
The fast speed, the cool wind and the beautiful sunrise made him smile with contentment and peace, and he looked down to notice this crazy girl smiling broadly closing her eyes.
He asked," geet why are you closing your eyes standing so near to edge? You might fall off?"
" You won't let me fall maan... that's why I can close my eyes and enjoy"
" Soo much trust?"
" The word friendship means immense trust and respect for each other. It's more sacred than love"
" How can you say so? Have you been in love?"
" No but I know a simple thing... my lover would accept my good qualities and would try to mend my vices or may not understand them at all but my friend will accept me just as me..."
Maan was quite. He had no words to say. How easily she differentiated love from friendship.
" Maan, did you enjoy the sunrise?"
He could hear her ask in a soft voice.
" Yes geet...I have always been an early riser but I never really enjoyed sunrise before.."
" hey don't do that. Live maan.. life is short and we never know what happens next. So don't waste any moment. Live the moments and enjoy them so that you never have the regret that you did not live..."
" I soo wish geet life was that simple... but"
" No ifs and buts...life is simple and beautiful . We tend to make it difficult by thinking so much bout it..."
They were back to their seat and slowly geet drifted off to sleep since it's another few hours before they will reach Kolkata.
Maan watched her sleeping peacefully and pondered over her words. She was right...indeed he was not living but surviving but hearing her be so passionate about life he wanted to live once again. He didn't know what actually was having but he felt alive after years.
Once they reached both moved towards their own destinations just exchanging their cell no's. geet smiled sweetly and said," Good bye maan...hope you enjoy the festival. Trust me, watching people celebrate durga puja in Kolkata is an awesome experience."
" sure geet... you too enjoy"
Geet and ridhdhima came out only to get a sweet surprise. Armaan and tejibhai was standing outside the station waiting for them. While ridhdhima blushed watching armaan wink at her naughtily geet ran and hugged teji," veerji, you never said you will come..."
" oh geetu!! We wanted to surprise you. "
" but papaji lied to me saying you are in California"
" Otherwise the surprise would be ruined dear sis. Now stop pouting and let's get going. Mom have prepared some yummy breakfast for you"
While teji and geet were engaged in sibling fights armaan and ridhdhima were silently talking with their eyes...they had been childhood sweet hearts and best friends. Suddenly Geet's loud voice brought them back to world," oye love birds...this is a busy street with all this noise not some film set that you both will have an eye lock..."
While armaan glared at her ridhdhima blushed. Geet showed her tongue and four of them moved forward with geet chirping loudly about random things.
Maan had been hearing their banters standing little far away. He watched her smiling face and something in him made him wish that she should never loose that infectious smile from her face. He wondered why he was so concerned about geet. Maan sighed as he realized that he is strongly attracted to this innocent doe eyed girl.
