Part 4

As dramatic and novel like their first meet was they didn't meet again. Ridhdhima did tell geet a few times about the handsome knight in shining armour who saved geet but geet never paid heed. For her love was an illusion of brain and nothing more. She had her life planned, she would do her medical and then become a neurosurgeon and help people in need. She did not have time for some stupid emotion called love as she did not want to waste the precious years of her plus two.

Maan on the other hand had been busy with his first year of civil engineering. He did remember the incident but never pursued what felt like an illusion.

Almost three months have passed and it was time for first holiday of geet's school. It was time for navaratra. Though geet's family basically were from Punjab but geet had been born and brought up in Kolkata. So she looked forward to the durga puja celebrated in Bengal every year.

Running and huffing geet and ridhdhima reached vizag station. They had to board Chennai mail which leaves near about 1:30 pm and it was already 1:20. They quickly reached the AC couch and got in. Once they were settled geet shouted," ridhdhi, I want an ice cream. Once I reach home mom won't allow me." And made a cute pout.

But instead of ridhdhima a husky voice replied almost near her ears," Oh princess!!! Do you have some kind of obsessions for ice creams?"

She felt the familiar tingling sensation in the pit of her stomach, the one she felt that crazy day when she had met HIM. She turned her face to come into view with the same pair of eyes having the same warmth in them. She smiled broadly as she said," You!!! How come you are here? Wow!!! how are you? No first tell me what are you doing here?"

" you know nobody is going to say you anything if you pause in between…"

And his smirk made ridhdhima burst out into laugh. In between her laughter she said," I have been telling her this for past 11 years of our friendship and she is still the same."

Geet pouted cutely making maan smile at her antics as he answered," Geet I am doing the same thing as you are. I am travelling and as for your second question, I am doing fine. So, how are you? Hope you didn't get lost in any of the other outings?"

Geet cribbed looking upwards ," hey babaji!!! See everybody makes fun of me. Look, this ridhdhi, whenever she needed help with physics I helped and now she is joining hands with this this…. Ummm…this DD making fun of me…"

Maan was definitely amused watching her. He shook his head and looked at ridhdhima who was sitting diagonally to him. Both girls had the window seats to themselves and maan and another guy had the two upper bunks. He smiled at ridhdhima and said," Hi, I am maan."

" HI this is ridhdhima and I guess you were our geetu's saviour on the day we visited the big bazaar."

" yep, so is she always a nut case or is it only my bad luck to encounter her in this avatar?"

" No… I guess babaji had forgotten to tighten some of her screws……she z a total nutcase with no cure…"

Geet who was busy complaining babaji had her full ears to their conversation. She started her ranting again," Look babaji, nobody cares for me. Here I am angry with them and instead of trying to make amends with me they are just chit chatting. Hmmph…I am never going to talk to them."

Hearing her cute cribbings he felt like pulling her cheeks. She was the cutest thing he had ever encountered in eighteen years of his life.

He clears his throat and says," Sorry geet, never meant to hurt you!!!"

Ridhdhima also made a cute face holding her ears. Geet was not someone to hold grudges and she hugged ridhdhi and smiled at maan.

They were talking at the top of their voice. While geet and ridhdhi were excited to visit home for holidays Maan was simply listening them blabbering away in glory. He did give his inputs in between but they both were enough of chatterbox to continue.

They had almost reached Orissa border when the train suddenly came to a halt. At first they thought it was just some signal problem but soon they found that something is wrong with the engine. Ridhdhi had slept off by then but geet was not. She was little worried when maan assured her," Hey geet, its nothing to worry. Help is coming soon so don't be tensed. You will reach Kolkata tomorrow, yeah you might be a little late."

" hmm!! I understand nothing can be done."

" oh!! Geet, don't be sad now. Okay, just tell me why did you think of joining a school so far from home?"

" I don't know if you will believe me or not but I fell in love with this place the first time I visited in class eight. And after that when I found ridhdhi is coming here I just wanted to come along. I asked papaji and he being the darling never could say me no."

"hmmm."

" Maan, how about you?"

" Well, I got through the engineering entrance and came here. I wanted to be in Delhi but once I came just like you I fell in love with the place."

"hey same pinch."

" so tell me geet, what do you want to study further?"

" Oh! I have everything planned out. I want to do my medicines and then I will do specialization in neurology."

" okay! So medical?"

" Yes! It's the only thing I dreamt off from my childhood."

"I truly hope you get your dreams and you never need to choose between your dream and your need "

" What do you mean?"

" Nothing. "

" Hey that's not fair. I told you so many things. Tell me what you mean." Her cute pout made him groan inwards. This cute princess will be death of him someday.

He continued after a long pause," I wanted to pursue software engineer. I am really crazy about computers. But my family business is construction. Since, I have to get hold of the strings of business relieving my mom so I had to go for civil engineering. "

Geet was quite for a moment. Her entire life she had got what she had wished for. She had never had to even compromise. Rano and mohinder are two loving set of parents and they had always worked hard so geet can live her life like a pampered princess. Geet had never had to compromise let alone sacrifice anything may it be smallest of small things.

After thinking for some time she asked innocently," But why do you need to sacrifice your dream for someone else?"

Maan looked at the innocent doll seating in front of him. She really had no idea of the cruel ways of the world that snatches your dreams and twists your reality. He smiled and said," Love can make you do crazy things geet."

" But if your mother loves you then she won't want you to sacrifice your dream right?"

" And the reason I am sacrificing my dream is because I love my mom too much and I would want her to be relieved of the burdens she has been carrying for years now…"

" I don't understand. Love is supposed to be your strength right."

Maan smiled indulgently at her innocent look. She was so pure at heart, so far from malice of the real world. He smiled and said," Love is both your weakness and strength my dear geetu!! But I can't make you understand the meaning of what I said. Only life can teach you this……….. but I will wish that you never learn how love can be a weakness and you always find strength in your love"

To change the topic maan raised his hand asking geet," what say, friends??"

And begun their journey of friendship…………..
