PART-19-B
Pain was the only emotion Maan felt as Geet left him. He thought it will be fine and he can bear the indifference she would show. Yet he had underestimated the depth of her emotions. Her slight stiffening told him that she still had feelings for him no matter how unworthy he is of them. He wished he could turn the clock back to time eons ago and could change their destiny. But maybe they were just destined to be each other's memories.
A hand touched maan as he heard clear voice stating, "So she is the one."
Maan turned back to find a grim Adi staring at him as if piercing his soul.
"What are you talking about Adi?"
"Maan Singh Khurana!! I know you for a lifetime. Don't dare try and lie to me. I am the first person to read your silence got it."
"I don't deserve her Adi."
"Let her decide that Maan."
"What do you mean?"
"The least you can do for your love is respecting her enough to let her decide on something so important. Fight for your love Maan or else you have never really loved her."
"The last line was copied from my long lecture before you proposed Pinky."
"Yet it wasn't yours."
"How do you know?"
"Give me some credit Mr. Khurana. I am your best friend. I know you in and out. You can never fight for your happiness. Now also you will fight only if you realize that your and her happiness are intertwined together."
"You don't know what I have done? You would hate me."
"How can I hate you knowing you have suffered as well?"
Maan could just hug Adi. Words were not really needed as they had been friends for too long to understand the silence of each other.
Geet just went and stood near the window staring at the dark sky. She did not know when her tears started falling and then she said more to herself complaining," Why? Why does that man have so much power over me to still make me feel? Why do I still want you? Why can't I let go?Even after all the pain why do I still want to have that future with you I had dreamt of once? Why?"
She dropped down on her knees trying to contain the pain in her heart. Yet one man who had been observing her could feel her every emotion. Maan had been taking a stroll in the garden knowing any effort to sleep will be fruitless. He mumbled, "Sorry Geetu!! I am truly sorry!!"
The morning was not bright enough for the two souls lost in grief, pain and guilt. Mr. and Mrs. Manchanda had called everyone for breakfast but Maan was missing. He knew he can't hide forever but he can at least try his best.
Pinky's mom and pinky were having a heated discussion over shopping.
"Mom!!! I want to have he dress changed. We still have time. Let me go."
"Not my mistake that you choose to come a week before your engagement."
"Tell my khaus Boss that."
The argument would have continued had not geet intervened asking what the matter was.
"Arey beta! Your dearest friend did not like the dress she will be wearing tonight. So she wants to get it changed. You only tell, How can that be possible...?"
"Oh Aunty you sound exactly like mumma .Don't worry, i can go and get it for her. After all, what are friends for?"
Most people liked the suggestion except one frowning soul who had remembered their first meet suddenly. He texted Adi who gulped nervously before saying," Geet, don't you think it is rather bad idea? I mean we all know how choosy pinky is ?"
Even while speaking, Adi knew he might be the first groom to be rejected on the day of his engagement. Pinky glared at him and said,
"Fine Mom! We all go and you Mr. won't accompany. "
"Who will drive then?"
"Yash can do the honours."
Geet laughed out saying,"God pinky!! You are so adorable!! But you don't wanna risk your life before getting engaged so spare us yash's driving."
Yash whined,"Geetu!!!"
"What Geetu? You know I don't trust your driving. You almost got us killed that day."
Maan closed his fist in pure rage hearing that his geet's life was in danger. But he could do nothing but listen quietly standing by the door to the dining hall.
"Come on geetu!! That was a pure accident."
"But I don't want to die!!"
Geet laughed high fiving meer while the guilty heart found little solace as maan watched her pure, unadulterated laughter echo the dining hall making everybody smile.
Finally it was decided that everyone will go for shopping. When geet asked pinky where the shop is pinky replied non-chalantly, "Near Jagadamba complex."
Geet was hit by a bolt of memories of her and Maan. There first meet, there numerous shopping trips everything came to her mind and Geet wore her mask of indifference and said,"Let's go. After all, tonight is the big event."
Everyone watched her transformed image yet nobody really understood.
Man just left the place thinking, "Forget me Geet. I am not worth even your memories."
The evening was approaching near and Maan stood anxiously as he waited. The moment has come for him to truly face Geet yet he was hoping for an excuse to stall time a bit more.
Geet was wearing a beautiful purple lehenga. She was looking beautiful yet something was missing. Maan watched her as he saw her working round trying to check the last minute things before they start for the venue. Man watched her when a deep voice said," Don't let her go Maan. Ii don't know about others but you won't survive that."
Maan watched Adi and smiled sadly stating," I am here so she can punish me Adi."
"And here I thought you are here for my marriage."
"Of course I am. Stop being nautanki!!"
Adi laughed and hugged him .Geet turned back to find maan's back facing her. She could only see the back of the man hugging Adi yet he felt familiar like she had known that person. Geet shook his head saying," This place is really messing up with my thoughts. I better go and see if pinky is ready or not."
Everybody reached the venue booked for the occasion. Maan and Adi came by Adi's car while others travelled together in Mr. Manchanda's car.
Geet took pinky in with her. When she reached she stood rooted finding Maan standing beside Adi. She stopped walking and slowly started taking her steps back while shaking her head trying to shake the reality. She stared at him finally as her eyes filled up. Maan too watched her unblinkingly. His eyes also started watering. Geet could finally break the stare as he gathered herself before moving forward and taking her place beside her friend. She was here as a friend and she would not allow the lover in her to ruin the moment for her friend.
Adi and pinky exchanged the rings soon. The way they looked at each othe with utmost love and respect told that sometimes two ordinary person can together make a perfect relationship.
Geet was chatting with Pinky in hushed voice when a familiar voice spoke ,"Am sorry Adi. I missed the ceremony. But I really am not at fault as my flight was delayed.."
"It is absolutely okay Sam. At least you made it though I know you are here for someone else."
Geet was amazed as she witnessed a blushing Sam. Gone was the arrogant girl. The girl in front of her was a different Sam altogether, a more matured and a lot more humble...
I know this is short but I promise another update tomorrow...Part 19-B was supposed to be short and updated soon only my manager thought it was great to make me work extra and also eat my brains off...Only if he was a different man...Like MSK of GHSP!! But aisi kismat sabki kaha!!!!Forgive my mistakes as I did not get time to proof it
