I kinda feel bad for him, I know Geet was emotional though I think she is the one who didn't recognize him.! IMO she always knew what Maan is, he is not a voicer and suffers in silence.! It hurts to think, she misunderstood him just by some words of his that she failed to see the silence in it.

Knowing the way Maan was always skeptical about their relation becoming public, rather than believing him so easily, she should have tried breaking his mask.

Wow!! thats a different outlook... and I appreciate your view and maybe geet should have had held on. But i would still like you to think once again as maan and geet as just two simple person . geet was in stress at that point with all her family problem and she expected solace from maan. Additionally geet was young. so maybe she did not have it in her to be empathetic. Also we can't expect one to always read through the silence of other as amind reader. Voicing your feelings would keep no gaps for insecurtites.
