Hey yaa!

Hi guys, I am back.

Thanks for hanging on there, heres the update as promised. The third installment to "LOVE FROM ACROSS"

Storm raging outside, hearts set ablaze,

Clinging to one another; two souls find solace.

Tied together in the threads of fate,

Locked in chasm of amulet;

Will they be one?

Or again their paths separate?

Recap:

"Leave m…" He closed her mouth with his hands and started dragging her along with him. He made sure they had reached far enough so that their sound didn't reach the camp before opening her mouth.

"Why are you doing this? It's my will to live or die" and he silenced her by putting his finger on her lips.

"Chup bilkul chup" " you are going back and that's final. I am seeing you off till there." He told her in no uncertain terms.

"But I am not going, I don't want to."

"I didn't ask you. I am telling you." And he pulled her along, treading towards the river that divided Pakistan from India.

At this time nothing mattered to him, not his job, not his reputation, not his future. All that was important was for her to reach back home safely. He was surprised at his instinct to take her himself. He was crossing his lines, he knew; but everything seemed right when done for her.

----------------------------------
Geet continuously protested, she didn't want to go to Pakistan for reasons best known to her. Maan was totally annoyed and at his wits end.

They were walking, Maan's torch light guiding them. He had anticipated to leave her at the banks and return to the camp before dawn. That way, things wouldn't go caput and when the news of captives fleeing would come, he would be there to handle the situation and take the blame. He might be reprimanded, suspended but at least she would be safe, he said to himself looking at her walking beside him, her hand in his.

It would be so nice to walk like this throughout their life, hand in hand, together. It was now a long lost dream. Time and circumstances had crumbled all of them.

Geet looked at him through the corner of her eyes, admiring his muscular form bathed in moonlight. He definitely had changed, for good. His body more muscular, his face more chiseled and mature.

"You've grown old" she said.

"Everyone does. But you are the same." He shrugged, slowing their pace.

"But what I no more see in your face is Geet," the words left his mouth even without him knowing.

"Her smile, her anger, her tears" he said in the spur of the moment but chided himself as soon as the words left him.

He didn't want to open up to her, not after what had happened in the past and not after knowing that she would not be a part of his future.

But he still looked at her with epectation filled eyes, maybe he would get answers.

"The Geet who existed then was a mere shadow, a shadow that left its body when light receded." She stated the irony of her life with such ease.

Her happiness was a chasm, her mirth was a mere shadow and so was her destiny that she had thought would contain Maan. All her warmth, all her mirth left her as light receded from her life.

Now that Geet seemed from another life to her. Her story with Maan seemed out of a fairy tale, dusted and worn out under the speckles of time...

Now it all seemed so distant, so alien.

"Lips at times do curve in a smile but heart doesn't feel content, sometimes I do get angry at my destiny but at the end I am a slave to it. And as far as tears go." She looked into his eyes now as they stopped walking

"they no more flow."

His soul shuddered at the amount of pain she had kept within her.

"When hurt crosses all boundaries and pain is limitless, there comes a point when you cease to feel it and that's when tears freeze...they are cradled in your eyes reminding you of all that you want to forget and still don't come out." She said staring into oblivion, realising too late that she had spoken much more than she should have.

Both realized too late that they had treaded forbidden territory; and now that the conversation had started, there was no going back, at least for Maan.

"Why did you stay back at the camp?"
He asked her a simple question which she didn't answer and started walking.
He caught hold of her hand and pulled her back roughly, hurting her already injured arm.

"Ouch" she winced closing her eyes and he realized the hurt he had caused her. Maan instantly left her arm and looked at her again.

"Tell me Geet, please." His voice was pleading now and she couldn't hold back her reason anymore.

"Because I knew you would be pulled up and blamed for this. That you would take all blame upon yourself and pay the price for my freedom" She said meekly.

And he sighed looking at the heavens, what was this woman made up of? At times she was mature and intelligent but then did stupid things for no apparent reason, like this one.

"And how would your staying back help me?" He asked amused, trying to contain the little smile threatening to play at his lips.

"Well, umm I would tell them I helped the others flee" she stated as a matter of fact.

Christ!!
Should he smile at her deed or blast her, he didn't understand the woman.
Did the dumbhead of the woman standing beside him know what punishment would she be meted out in case she was found guilty of rescuing others? Did she have the slightest idea what her life would be like as a cross border prisoner?
He had seen them tortured, he had seen them crumble for no mistake of theirs but coming from the 'other' country. And he knew Geet would shudder even at the thought of what he had seen others go through.
Least did he know that she had crossed that border of pain long back.

But did that mean there was some feeling. Or love? No it was mere concern he chided himself. She was just concerned about him.

"I would have been fine" he told her as they started walking again.

She didn't say anything. Didn't dare trust herself with words which went past her brain-to-mouth filter. And they kept walking in silence. A Silence so loud, silence so consuming...
----------------------------------

They had come a long way, indeed. The river was just some miles away. Silence of the night broken by the shrill cries of cicada that would soon mingle into chirping of birds, as a new morning would set in. It was the time before dawn, before the period when night surrendered to day; a time when darkness would pave way for light. Strangely today, the winds had picked up, like they were brewing a storm since long and this was their undoing.

Suddenly a gush of hard chilling wind blew over them and Maan exactly knew what would happen next. He caught hold of Geet and quickly bent down on his haunches as the breeze turned wild, chasing like wild horses.

The winds were blowing, swirling around them and along with them blew dry sand picked up from barren earth. The storm had fury, like chiding of an abandoned woman, scorn of an offended female... Such storms were not cooked in hell; they simmered only under mother nature's offence. Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned!

Geet's head bent into the crook of his neck as he engulfed her in the safe of his arms, shielding her from nature's wrath.

She was hyperventilating due to the adrenaline rush and he soothed her back, whispering assurances to her. Maan had seen worst during his training sessions. He was used to such calamities but the fact that his Geet had to face them filled him with anger. But he maintained his calm and waited for the storm to mellow down.

Wild winds cradling dry leaves and sand swirled around them, as if they were the 'eye'. Two bodies, found solace in each other amidst a dark storm.

Her head still lay cradled in his arms, glued against his wildly beating heart while he held her protectively. Her hands clenched tightly at his shirt, scrunching his uniform in her tiny fists. The winds were wild, forcing her eyes almost shut.

Unintentionally her hand reached his collar to hold tight and it grazed over something,

Something metallic,
Something familiar,
Something she had once owned,
Something she had tied around his neck;
Tying him to her for the rest of their lives to come; It was the Taveez, the sacred locket that she had given him ages ago, which he still wore.

Which he still wore...

Still on the path to send his 'Love' across, will Maan find his answers?
Will the Taveez bind them again?
Wil Geet fight her inner fears?
Oook, so heres Part III, do tell how did you'll like it!

Thanks dear!
Yes the mystery is what travels through their jourey...
Thanks again for the poem!
Geet has a past, so does Man-Their past
She needs to fight her inner fears...
Personification and metaphors ought to appear in this part since it concerned nature and its role in their story, moreover its one of my favourite styles of writing!
And, the taveez; well its divine...!
