Chapter 56

Geet heard her phone ringing and automatically picked it up saying sleepily"Kaun?"

"Maan get used to this. It seems your sherni is not a morning person. You will have to be her alarm clock for life! But that's okay" he thought smiling to himself before saying "Who do you think?" huskily into the phone.

His voice captivated Geet, who was still half asleep and had spent most of her night having x-rated dreams about him. She thought she was still dreaming, so decided to keep quiet and listen to his voice.

"Mesmerised by me, Mrs Khurana? I don't blame you...vaise, you are very lucky, you have a very handsome husband...I have noticed my effect on you...but Geet, tell me, why do you try to fight it?" he continued seductively

She just said "mmm" and "haaan" in agreement, being happy to listen to his voice, thinking "Doesn't he sound dreamy. If only he was really talking to me...really with me here...in my arms...holding me...kissing"

"Geet, are you up yet? We are getting late" Pinky shouted through the door. "If you are not out in 10 minutes, I will leave without you" she said stomping off.

Suddenly Geet became aware that she was on the phone, listening to Maan, and agreeing silently to everything he said and having x-rated thoughts. She cut the call without saying goodbye, and ran into the bathroom, to get ready and calm herself."Geet, I am sure, he will tease you about it at lunch. Jhalli, don't you know when you are awake or asleep?" she thought smacking herself lightly on the forehead.

Maan on the other hand laughed looking at his phone. "Bhai, you are in a good mood. You must have been talking to Bhabhi, right?" Annie said, coming to give her brother his morning coffee.

Maan smiled at Annie and said "Who else? She puts in me in a good mood for the day...generally...well sometimes".

"No fair Bhai", Annie pouted, sitting beside him. "You get to see Bhabhi and talk to her.."

"Barely Annie" Maan interrupted. "Do you know how hard I have to work, to meet your Bhabhi?? It's not so easy" he complained.

"Accha. Poor Bhai. Bhabhi causing Bhai problems? Is my schweeet Bhai you missing Bhabhi?" Annie teased then said "Well then we need to get her home and soon for your sanity"

Mann just nodded then said "I am meeting Geet for lunch today. Let me think how I can get you guys to meet, okay?"

Ten minutes later she was out of her room, dressed and ready to go. Pinky handed her an aloo parantha, shooing her out of the front door saying, "Breakfast on the go, I'm afraid. Looks like we both got up late". Neither of them looked at each other. Pinky embarrassed about what had happened last night and Geet still flushed about her x-rated thoughts.

The morning disappeared quickly for Geet as she concentrated on the designs for the new client and soon it was lunchtime. "Geet are you coming for lunch?" Meera asked. "Baby is getting hungry" she continued, patting her tummy.

Geet looked up from her work and smiled at Meera. "No, vo... I need to go out, so I will have a late lunch. Okay?"

Meera nodded and left with the rest of the staff for lunch.

Glancing at her watch, Geet noticed it was 1.30pm. "Another hour to go Babaji. Pakka, he will tease me. Keep me safe Babaji", she thought closing her eyes. She was brought out of her thoughts by the phone ringing.

"Hello Maan" she answered sweetly noticing the caller ID.

"Hai, if you keep speaking so sweetly Mrs Khurana, I will die a happily" Maan said teasingly/

"Maaan" Geet replied "Why are you saying such silly things about dying?"

"Concerened about me, Mrs Khurana?" Maan asked

"Ha, of course, I am concerened...vo I mean...you are a good man, with a good heart...the world needs men like you...alive" Geet managed to say, not liking where the conversation was headed.

"And do you need me, Geet?" Maan asked

Unable to respond or unwilling to respond, Geet decided to change the subject and ask "Are we not meeting in an hour?"

"Ha, we were, but now I can't make it" Maan said

"Why?" Geet asked somewhat disappointedly.

Maan sensed the disappointment in her voice and replied "Geet, I wouldn't ordinarily cancel our date, but I need to go to Mumbai urgently for a few days. I am at the airport now"

"Oh...Mumbai...a few days?" Geet asked quietly. She was disappointed but she would never admit it. "I won't see him for 2-3 days? Why do I feel bad about this? Why do I not want him to go?"

"I will be back on Friday,Geet and I will make it up to you then. In the meantime, you can work undistracted on your project to impress MK, hmmm?" he said trying to lift her mood.

Geet nodded silently into the phone. Even his comment on MK did not affect her.

After some silence Maan said "Geet?"

"Yes" Geet replied

"Can I ring you tonight? Just because we are not meeting, doesn't mean I cannot annoy you over the phone, does it?" Maan asked.

Geet smiled. She knew he was trying to lift her mood and said "Okay, but after Pinky goes to bed."

"And Geet, how exactly would I know that?" Maan replied seriously "Should I ask Adi?"

"Oh Ha...I mean NO...I mean sorry" she said hitting her head and then said "Ring me at 10.00, but not earlier and not later, okay?"

"Okay. 10 O'clock on the dot it is, Mrs Khurana...but you do know you can ring me anytime you want?...Except maybe when I am in the bathroom" Maan teased

"Maaan" Geet whined smiling at the phone. "Why does he have the ability to influence my emotions, make me happy, lift my mood?

"Got to go Geet. My flight is being called. Talk to you later. Miss me, Mrs Khurana" Maan said cutting the call.

Geet looked at her phone and said "Miss you"

After a quick dash to the canteen to get some lunch, Geet returned to her desk to see Meera talking to a young woman.

"Geet, you have come back quickly. Weren't you going out?" Meera asked.

"Wo, change of plan Meera" Geet replied, sitting down

Coming towards Geet's desk with the young woman, Meera said "Geet I would like you to meet Annie", then getting a nudge from Annie, Meera quickly said "I mean Anwesha Khurana, MK's little sister"

"Not so little Di" Annie whined.

Extending her hand Geet shook Annie's hand saying, "Nice to meet you Ms Khurana or should I say AK?"

"Call me Anwesha please" Annie said sitting down opposite Geet giving her a wide smile.

"Meera, come and sit, please. All that standing is not good for you or the baby" Geet said with concern, but Meera just replied "Geet, Anwesha wants to see our newest designer about redecorating her room at Khurana mansion. Now since you are the newest designer, you can deal with the request. Bye"

"But..." Geet said to Meera's retreating form.

Geet then looked at Annie's expectant face. "I don't know why you would want a new designer to decorate your room. Surely you want someone with lots of experience. I mean, this is only my first week..." Geet said to Annie frankly.

"No, I want someone new...with fresh ideas and perspective. And Meera showed me some of your designs. They are great" Annie said

"Thank you, but I am not sure I can do a good job for you. I mean why not Meera?"Geet replied.

Thinking about what Maan had told her about Geet, Annie decided to use a different approach and asked "Are you afraid to take this project on, because I am MK's sister?"

Geet looked at Annie in shock. "No of course not. That has nothing to do with my decision. Anyway, why would I be a afraid? I am good at my job and have designs to prove it. Also your brother's company employed me, so they must see my capability"

"Then why are you refusing?" Annie persisted. "Please say you will do it" Annie begged Geet holding her hands.

Thinking of nothing else to say, Geet gave in and said "Fine. When would you like me to start?"

"OMG!!! you will do it? Today, I mean now...please?" Annie said excitedly

"Okay, let me finish up some work, and I can come to Khurana mansion about 4 pm to look a the room?" Geet said

"Or how about, I go and bug Yash Bhai, and wait for you, and we can go together?" Annie countered.

Nodding her head Geet agreed.

Annie came over and hugged a surprised Geet thinking "She is so sweet...perfect for Bhai. I am glad Bhai called me with his idea, now I get to spend time finding out about my bhabhi for myself!"
