I was a bit hesistant to post this, because I've been in two minds over whether I should continue or scrap it altogether... but anyhoo, this is part 1 and we shall see where it goes from here. Enjoy :)
Part 1: An Ocean's Refusal
The shuffle of the letters landed on the hardwood floor with a soft thud, almost as if they were attempting to alleviate the plan.
She got up, calmly walked her way over to the front door of her small townhouse and picked up the manila envelope.
Tearing it open, she pulled the package of papers out swiftly, flicked through to the last page and gave it a once over.
Pulling the ballpoint pen from the breast pocket of her blazer, she signed on the dotted line, below her former name.

She sat on the shore some hours after signing the divorce papers, the darkness of the night providing a blanket for her silent tears.
Although the divorce was mutual, and a long time coming for the past two years of their five year marriage, something still pierced her heart sharper than a stake being aimed right into someone's abdomen.
The chilling wind that came with the tidal waves crashing vehemently onto the shore and back attacked her fragile paleness. She closed her eyes, letting the cool breeze soothe her soul, or at least attempt to.
After a few moments, she slowly opened her eyes and the moonlight shone down on the sea, caressing it with its shine so that it left its silvery-green mark on the water.
'There's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away' he had said, squeezing her hand tightly as he leant down to place a chaste kiss on her lips.
'I didn't realise you were such a hopeless romantic,' she had teased, backing away slightly as she pulled him along the sand, letting the sun baked grains caress her toes and his warm dusky scent fill her whole.
She blinked momentarily, as if to mentally erase the memories. A lone tear escaped her eye and she brushed it away with the back of her hand. Geet patted her thighs, brushed the loose hair strands behind her ears and stood up. Grabbing her flip flops, she turned back to make her trek up the sandy hill and back to her home when she bumped into him, instantly recognising his scent and making out his features faintly under the dark sky.
"I knew I'd find you here," he said, and she could have sworn that she saw a faint smile play across his lips.
