I'm first going to reply to your reply to my comment.
Yes, you reserve the right to demand anything for my late latifi, by it's up to me to fulfil the demand or to compensate in other ways. This time, I didn't take very long to comment and that's the compensation I'm making. 😉
Now, for this part. I'm quite in awe of this chapter. For reasons you already know perhaps.
I think I had a wide grin on my face when Maan was disappointed on not seeing Geet and then his self-lecture started. Poor chap! He still doesn't know how smitten he is! 😆
He needs a nice kick right around where Miri was aiming her sunglasses, only then he'll wake up, dont you think?
I admit I disliked Pari's idea of misusing the young girl's innocence and making fun of the man in public. Agreed he insulted Geet but wasn't it, at both times, in a private premises? It wasn't out in the open for everyone to witness a humiliating act played on an unsuspecting (not quite) person. Though Miri's innocent act of singing to the tail and getting it out did make me laugh but for Pari, I took an instant 'alert alarm'. And I felt like slapping my hand on the forehead after reading Maan's opinion of Pari's mischief being related to Geet.
You see Pari is not a person who always weighs logically. She is an act first, react later kind of person. She has tunnel vision as far as the Handa's are concerned, they are her family and extremly protective of them, especially Geet. She does not follw the straight line, as you'll see. That is just who she is.
One plus point for Maan in this chapter. He took time out from his schedule to share his own knowledge of Martial Arts for a good purpose. When the girl in the skirt passed him at the signal, my mind immediately went to Pari. I thought that it's Pari but I couldn't figure out why she'd be dressed like that. And Maan's hope of the woman having self-defence to protect herself again made me smile.
Now, now. Pari left me agape with her plan and the whole way to trap the eve-teasers. The world needs officers like that too much. The sad part is that even if the eve-teasers are caught, the law doesn't punish them as severely as needed. And the goons know this, hence they don't back off from going ahead with the vile act. Even more saddening is the way people don't step forward to help when such an incident takes place in front of their eyes. All they do is watch silently and thank heavens that it wasn't them in the victim's place, not thinking that the victim is actually someone's family, or she could be the onlooker's own family!
It really disgusts me when I think that whenever such an incident comes to our ears, the girl is blamed with all sorts of accusations; she shouldn't dress this way and that, she shouldn't have provoked the men, she shouldn't go out too much, she shouldn't take this route and that. Come on! How can it be a girl's fault?!
It's all about our perspective. There are tribes in Africa, tribes in Andaman and Nicobar, tribes in the Amazon rainforests where the women freely move around bare breasted. Why then, does the so called provocative dressing of women in the civilized world, evoke such judgemental behaviour from so called civilized men and more sadly civilized women.
Maan and Pari's encounter at the police station was a spectacle. Maan's respect towards Pari surprised me, though I respect her too, for being a wonderful friend. His accusations again left a sour taste in my mouth after all the plus points in this chapter and I'm sort of glad now that Pari gave it back to him.
See, Pari is just like Maan. They say opposites attract, but like minded people make the best of friends. They are kindered souls. One of a kind. If they were two males, they'd have bonded instantly, after a good rousing fight. To him she is a woman, yet she is not. She is a fighter, just like him. You'll see a lot more of their bonding as we go on.
I'd still want a friend like Pari for myself, who can stand up for good and give a good hearing to anyone who messes with her friend!
Loved this chapter for the mixed feelings it evoked in me. Thank you Apa! Love you! 🤗
And III, will always love yooouuu!!🤗
