A New Beginning
Dedicated to -MzIndependant- and Stuti :P
Geet sat on the window, looking out, thinking back to the past three years of her life. She had been to hell and back. At times she wondered, how could all that happen to her? Why her? After all she was just an ordinary girl, content with how her life was till everything tumbled like a pack of cards.
Suddenly, an arranged marriage, where she grew to love her husband, and receive much more back, and a little girl in a year who she loved to bits. But fate had to play its cruel game and snatch it all away.
When he just disappeared one day, she thought he would come back, it was just the nature of his job, every one assured her the same thing. But, slowly everyone's hope started fading till even his colleagues gave up hope. She could have continued to live under illusions, and she would have done that most likely, had life not brought a new ray of hope in her life-in her and her angel, Sharu's life.
She met him at the place where she had taken up a job to be independent. He worked in the accounts department and was friends with most people due to his warm and endearing personality. He had helped her once when she was working late in office and they had become friends. Gradually they had grown close with time. She remembered the walks they would take on the beach, chatting easily and she felt a little of the life that she had lost coming back to her. She felt some of the emotions she had buried deep coming alive again.
What puzzled her most was the camaraderie he had built with her li'l angel. The same Sharu who was uncomfortable going near any stranger had taken a liking to him the day she met him for the first time. He had come to drop her home and her mom had been on the porch with a giggling Sharu in her arms. She still remembered that scene from six months back. Her mom, who had heard from her about Dev, had invited him in and he had a goofy smile on his face as he looked at Sharu, clearly showing his affinity towards kids. Though a little cranky at first Sharu had settled happily in Dev's lap once he started talking to her-babbling sweet little nothings. That had marked the beginning of a strong bond between the two. Dev would always be eager to meet Sharu and the little girl was equally happy in his company.
So, when her mom had, the hundredth time requested her to consider moving on in life, she hadn't given her an answer, but hadn't brushed her off either.
She had already made good memories with Dev, and some particularly stood out. Like the one where he had taken her and Sharu to the fair. As she watched Dev and Sharu together on the swings, she was taken back to the time when Geet would visit her ancestral village with her mom and dad and visit the fairs there. That day, another of the defenses she had built around her had crumbled down. She liked Dev, and held immense respect for him.
Another, not so old memory came back to her-one that started the turn of events that were to culminate in a few hours. It was a day two months back. Dev had taken her out for dinner. He had taken her to the beach where he had an elaborate set-up for two. She had known in her heart what was coming. The place was beautifully lit with lamps and she felt warmth seeping within her as he had made her sit on the table set in the middle. They had talked easily and then he had asked her for a dance. As they danced to the soft tune of This I Promise you,(Play! Awesome song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uHvGtoDOfk ) he had tucked her closer and she had laid her head on his chest, feeling the warmth pooling within her. He had placed a soft kiss on her head and she couldn't help the smile that made its way to her face. Instead of getting down on his knee, he had tucked her closer and whispered in her ear that he wanted ted to keep her there forever. She had accepted by placing a soft kiss on his cheek and he had pecked her lips. That had sealed their decision and their lives together.
My love, here I stand before you
I am yours now from this moment on
Take my hand, only you can stop me shaking
We'll share forever, this I promise you
[Chorus]
And when I look in your eyes
All of my life is before me
And I'm not running anymore
'Cause I already know I'm home
With every beat of my heart
I'll give you my love completely
My darling, this I promise you
My love, I can feel your heartbeat
As we dance now closer than before
Don't let go, 'cause I could almost cry now
This is forever, I make this vow to you
[Repeat chorus]
My darling, this I promise you
My darling, this I promise you
Her family had obviously been overjoyed and she was at peace too. After two months of various ceremonies, it was her wedding day today-their wedding day. Standing by the window, she looked down to the entrance of the hotel that was hosting their wedding,
DEV
Weds
GEET
Was written in gold and people were entering to bless the pair.
She looked down at her hands and saw his name in the dark mehndi that adorned her palms upto her elbows. He loved her deeply and the almost black colour was another reminder as her mother put it.
As her sister and mom came to take her down, with Sharu chirping happily, dressed in a pink baby sharara, she looked forward to a new beginning, her new beginning-with Dev by her side and hoped by her soul that this time, she would be blessed with an ordinary life, with the simple pleasures of life that she loved to enjoy.
*Swati runs away scared*
*Peeps in to ask-How was it? Want Part 2?*

Anyways, as you might have noticed, I have framed it in such a way that a lot is still there to be filled in and I can take the story in any direction!😛
So, there is going to be a part 2, but what it contains remains to be decided!
