CHAPTER 12
He bent beside the bed on his knees and tried to prise his hand out but Geet's hold was very firm and she started mumbling in her sleep. " Please don't go. Stay with me. I am scared. please stay with me, Maan."
Maan looked at the sleeping form of Geet and the way she was mumbling for him not to go away leaving her alone. His heart pained to cause her such a lot of distress and trouble but then she was the one who had the guts to insult Maan Singh Khurana by saying the he forced her while she was unconscious and his insult was not something that Maan could ever tolerate and so he went ahead with his plan for hurting Geet so much that she will come to him begging for mercy. He wanted to take away every single happiness in her life and plunge her in the darkness where she will have no knight in shining Armour except for Maan himself.
But looking at her sleeping form he did not find it in his heart to leave her alone and go away. He kept kneeling down on his knees and slowly went off to sleep in that same uncomfortable position with his hand still in Geet's grasp.
It was very early in the morning, maybe 4 or 5 o' clock when Maan woke up from a deep sleep. His entire being- especially his knees, which had supported him the entire night- were aching with the strain of sleeping in such an awkward position.
But even after all the pain he underwent he could not deny the fact that last night he had the most peaceful sleep since she had left him cursing and insulting him that fateful day.
He looked at Geet's still sleeping form and sighed in contentment. She looked so innocent, sweet and cute- words did not even seem to suffice how beautiful she actually was- while sleeping, her beautiful face unhindered by any sort of tension, anger or frustration and smiling as if she was having the most beautiful dream in the world.
Slowly and very carefully so as to not wake her up and scare her and make her hyper all again like the previous day, he extracted his hand from her grip and went to her kitchen to make a glass of lemon juice for her so that when she wakes up she would not have to go through another severe headache like the previous day.
He kept it on the bedside table and then looked at her face. Her face now had a small pout as if she was missing having the warmth of Maan's hand tucked between her own. Maan chuckled seeing her reaction to him even when she was in an unconscious state of mind. Then he took a piece of paper and wrote something on it, placing it on the table and then with a peck on her forehead to which she sighed contentedly he left her house.
It was 10 AM when the glare of the scorching sun finally woke Geet up. She fumbled around a bit in her bed, her head almost splitting open with the intensity of the pain of the headache.
" That's it!!!" she vowed. " I'll never touch alcohol again. It hurts a lot the next day."
She opened her eyes and found herself in her own flat. She wondered how she actually reached there.
The last thing she remembered was fainting on the dance floor and Maan taking her up in his arms. Again!!!
" Oh no. Not again!!! Looks like I always faint in font of this guy. It is so not fair!!!" She pouted and then groaned before pulling the spread up to her face.
She was about to go off to sleep again, not being able to bear the pain and waking up only when it had finally subsided when she saw the glass of lemon juice.
Remembering how the juice had helped her in overcoming the pain the last down, she drank down the whole thing in a single gulp. Feeling a lot better after that, Geet opened her eyes again and saw a piece of paper on the table beside the bed. Confused, she opened it and on it was a letter that was addressed to her, written in an unfamiliar handwriting.
' Geet when you wake up I'll be gone from the house. I have placed the lemon juice on the bedside table. Have it when you wake up. You will definitely feel better.'
" Hain Babji!!! Humne kal raat kuch galath toh...?"
She began to check her clothes and found that everything was intact. Singing with relief she resumed reading the letter again.
' And before you jump to any conclusion thinking if we did anything wrong last night then let me clarify to you that e did nothing of that sort. You were mumbling in your sleep that you wanted me to stay with you and you looked so adorable while sleeping and poutng that i simply did not find it in my heart to leave you alone and go away.'
After reading the last line, Geet felt a small smile creeping up her face. So he thought that she was adorable. did he???
But then remembering how brutally he had snatched away her job from her only for the sake of fulfilling his lust for her, she felt utterly dejected.
If he adored her, why was he the only one to cause her such a lot of grief??? He had taken away the very means of her livelihood from her...
It was true that she still could earn money by doing some advertisement but that was just not enough to survive in an expensive city such a Mumbai.
It was not like her home town, Hoshiyaarpur.
If she was in Hoshiyaarpur, then she could have lived comfortably for at least 6 months with the money that she had.
But in Mumbai, living comfortably for even one month with the money she had was really very tough.
She did not go out that day and stayed at home thinking and worrying about the future. What will she tell her landlady when she would be unable to give her the rent of the next month??? She would be thrown out of the house.
She cried thinking how miserable her life had become in the past few days since she had met Maan. He had entered her life like a tornado and had shaken its very base.
In the evening Arnav came up to her house with pizza. She was agitated and upset the entire time and did not even pay attention to what Arnav was telling her.
She was broken out of her deep thoughts when Arnav poked her and said," Geet did you even realize that I was talking to you or rather telling you something???"
" Huh?? What??" Geet fumbled with her words.
Arnav sighed.
" Geet what happened??? Jab se aya hoon tab se dekh raha hoo ki tum bohot pareshaan hoo. Kya baat hain??"
Geet replied evasively. " Kuch nahi. Just thinking about the future. No one really knows what the future has in store for you. One moment you have everything and in the next moment it all vanishes like a puff of smoke. I wonder ki jab tum chale jaoge toh main kya karungi??" saying this she sighed longingly and looked ahead without actually seeing anything.
Arnav was appalled at the way how deep Geet thought process had gone. He had always known her to be a very bubbly and chirpy girl who was always full of life. A livewire. She never thought before jumping headlong into something- be it her passion for acting or her decision to leave home to pursue her career and dreams and ambition and therefore her thinking so deeply shocked him.
He placed her head on his shoulders and wrapped his arms around her in a n effort to soothe her.
" Geet baccha kya hua??? Tum toh itni dur tak nai sochti. Hamesha kehti ho ki kal ke baare main soch kar ky faida. Kaun jaan kal ho na ho. Toh phir aaj kya ho gaya??"
The calming and soothing presence of her one and only friend in a lonely city like Mumbai was the only thing she needed and she bared her heart out to him.
She told him everything that happened to her the last day. How she was sacked from her job and her worries that she wont be able to pay the rent of the next month ommiting the parts where Maan was involved because she knew that if Arnav came to know about Maan's role in her dismissal he would never agree to leave her alone in Mumbai and go forth to pursue his dreams and she definitely did not want that.
She was a very loyal friend and she did not want her best friend to give up on his dream.
Arnav was shocked with this revelation and said," Magar wo tumhe aise kaise nikaal sakte hain??"
Geet just shrugged giving a humorless chuckle.
Without further thought Arnav said," Geet tum iss mahine ka rent pay karke mere house main shift hojana."
Geet began to protest when Arnav cut her speech and said, " Dekho, month end hone main abhi two weeks hain aur main 5 din main Pune jaa raha hoon. Therefore you can easily stay there without any problem. Isse tumhare rent ke problem bhi solve hojaenge aur mujhe mere ghar ke baare main tension nahi leni paregi. Tumhe jab bhi meri zaroorat paregi mujhe call kar lena. Theek hain na??
Geet gave a grateful smile in his direction and Arnav too smiled contented. Then he left for his home while Geet retired to bed.
Sorry guys there was no Maaneet scenes in this update but I promise once the plot is set I will give you many scenes that will contain only maaneet... till then bear with me... another update in a few hours...
