@Samana-Your posts entice me into Den -against my will 😆@Usha: Wow you're friend's story is so sad and confusing. I hope she came out of it alright. It would have been so much better for everyone if the guy had just broken the engagement instead of avoiding the confrontation and taking years away from somebody's life.
I think this is a flaw in my personality as a viewer. I can't ignore characters's actions for the sake of the story. I can ignore any technical glitches, bad acting, inconsistency but I just can't handle moral vacuum. My inner feminist cried out at some of the early days of Geet when Maan used to push, pull and otherwise manhandle Geet but I was able to stomach it because he never seriously injured her and his harshness was always overpowered in the next few seconds by paradoxical gentleness (which is what made the character for me). Maan was never intentionally cruel to Geet, despite being derisive, harsh and indifferent by turns. He was always essentially kind and wanted Geet's well being.
On the other hand, Arnav has left bruises on Khushi more than once, he has caused her to be physically ill more than once and has made her cry on a day to day basis. I guess I just can't stomach such abject cruelty in the name of uncontrolled love, which is why, eventually, I changed the channel.
I am so glad you like Preeto too! More people need to be in on this secret little show. Even though I am disappointed at Preeto right now, I can understand her actions and it makes for excellent characterisation and fuel to the story. Also, I love how Rajbeer didn't slink back into his hard shell. See that is what I mean by love making someone a better person! It's like the grandmother says in Taal, "don't fall, rise in love!" 😆
I so want to see this "Trishna" now...
@Opti: I think you would love Preeto if you like soft romances. Check it out. All the episodes are on youtube and it's not very old so it shouldn't be too hard to catch up on the basics. The leads' relationship is written wonderfully as is the rest of the plot, so many aspects woven together. Now there is one show, where I can see the either or both the leads being absent for a week and it making no difference whatsoever.
My ideal man is Henry Tilney from Austen's Northanger Abbey or Shashi Kapoor's character from Kabhi Kabhie.
And I love Colin Firth as Darcy! You should check out the new Sense and Sensibility adaptation by Andrew Davies (the same guy who did the 1995 P&P). It is a mini-series in 3 parts and also on youtube, I think.
