It's no secret that rumours of Star One's Geet Hui Sabse Parayi are making the rounds. But that's not stopping handsome and charming Maan Singh Khurana aka Gurmeet Choudhary from feeling bullish about the show's future. Gurmeet not only clears the air about the show being pulled off but also talks about life post marriage and also shares his future plans.
Is Geet going off-air in September?
I am not hearing this for the first time. I've been hearing this since quite a long time now. But I would like to say that it's not true and we haven't received any official statement on it. I will keep entertaining all my fans.
What Geet Hui Sabse Parayi means to you?
I owe everything to this show. It has given me everything and I have worked really hard for the show. Its one and a half years now but the show is still giving me a chance to do something different. In the upcoming episodes people will again get to see a different and entire new Maan Singh Khurana. I still remember when I shot for my introduction scene. It was just after a month of the show going on air when I was introduced in the show and people liked my track so much that there was no looking back. The storyline was changed to accomodate me in the show and I am very fortunate that I was able to portray Maan Singh Khurana's character after doing a show like Ramayan.
The upcoming track shows that you will suffer from amnesia. Don't you think this track has been repeated quite a lot these days?
Our show is not like typical daily soap. We have Maan Singh Khurana in the show so definitely the track will be different! (Laughs). The storyline won't be the usual one. There are lots of surprises yet to come and you have to be a little patient.
How much do you relate to Maan Singh Khurana in real life?
I am not exactly like him. There are similarities between us but only up to a certain extent. I can't hurt anyone and I am short- tempered like Maan Singh Khurana (laughs).
You portray all your roles with ease but is there any particular role that you want to do?
I love Tom Hanks in The Terminal. I just loved his acting and I think he was brilliant in the film. I want to portray a character liked that.
If Geet ends will you do another show with Drashti? How is your equation with Drashti in real life?
Yes, why not! People have appreciated our work, they have loved our chemistry and we have also enjoyed working with each other, so definitely if we get a proper script we will surely do it. We usually discuss our scenes with each other but due to our hectic schedule we don't get time to hang out together.
You are in the television industry so it's obvious that you are working round the clock so how do you manage your personal life?
The sign of a successful man is that he should know how to manage his personal and professional life. Balancing your work is an art and one should know how to do it if he or she wants to survive in life. I try and give time to both Debina and my work as much as possible.
How has marriage changed you?
Kuch bhi nahi badla (I swear!) Nothing has changed for me though people say that life changes completely after marriage. I don't agree with this. I am the same person and Debina is the same girl whom I loved. Infact, the understanding level between us has increased, we are like best friends. For Debina and me marriage is just taking our relationship to the next level or you can say we wanted to give a name to our relationship, so we married each other. We have always given each other space and she has always supported me throughout.
How do you spend your free time with Debina?
I always wait for our production team to shout pack- up and once that is announced I jump as I know I will get to meet Debina. We then go out for dinner. We also go to the gym together as we both love exercising. I don't like partying as I don't smoke and drink, so we hang out with close friends.
Who are your close friends in the industry?
Apoorva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani. Debina and I really get along well with them. I believe that your best friends are always those who have been with you in your good and bad times. So I make it a point to stay in touch with them.
Which reality show would you want to be a part of?
A show like Khatron Ke Khiladi where I can test my strength and weakness. Debina and I always wanted to do Nach Baliye together as she is a trained dancer.
What about Debina's comeback is she planning to work again?
Yes, definitely. She is working hard on herself and is considering some projects. It's up to her what to take up. I will always be by her side in whatever she does.
It is heard that you direct your own stunts. Any plans of turning action director?
(Laughs) No! no! It's just that I like doing stunts my way. I love doing stunts and action scenes on screen. I would definitely take up direction some day but I am not very keen on doing that now. And as far as directing my action scenes are concerned I like to do it the way Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan do as I am trained in Martial Arts.
What are your future plans? Will we see you working in films and if yes will you quit TV?
I had come to become a film actor, will strive to become one and will definitely make it. TV has given me everything and I will never quit this medium.
A little about your background'
My dad is from the Army so I have been to many places. But I was born in Punjab and completed my studies in Bihar.
What are your dreams?
Due to my busy schedule I could not continue with my dance and action classes. Now I have started going back to these classes. So in a way I am living my dream.
