I think just because something is LEGALLY defined as such does not make it rape.

Because in majority of countries having sex when you are a minor is statutory rape regardless of consent. YET very very rarely do these cases go to court or are seen as rape. It depends on the victims POV. So if Geet does not feel its rape, it cannot be classified as rape. The law gets Nulled in those cases.

Actually for some people just using strong words to express their anger but they forget that these strong words actually has nothing to do with the subject if the matter... Geet did give her consent as she thought Dev was her husband so that justifies evrything but people who do not have that sense they will still use that word... stating that Dev forced himself on Geet... not defending Dev is out of the question but yes he did trick her so eventually he conned... but rape word is case sensitive yes Dev did to Geet is no less than rape i agree....

Sorry I think but the court of law in India may disagree with you.

RAPE or NO RAPE... in nutshell dev did wrong to GEET... Even though he has been forgiven by geet!!! still how can he act so (normal) with her and touch her ( play holi)

Very valid point! Whatever we choose to call it...it was absolutely totally wrong and even if Geet has forgiven Dev😕...he absolutely CANNOT go near her or touch her. That i think is the point everyone agrees with in the whole forum.

AP is Advanced Placement; so i'm a sophomore taking a college course (regrettably...*sigh*) and yeah, i've grown up in America (but i'm more Indian than most NRIs! 😃), so my knowledge of Indian law is..um..zilch.

I would like to thank everyone for helping me understand why this word was being used. In England, the law is different regarding rape and through this forum...i can say i have learnt something new. so once again my thanks.

I'm glad healthy discussions are still possible on this forum as i wasn't too sure of the response i would get.😊
