Veteran Actress Sandhya Shantaram Passes Away
Rape under the Indian Penal Code includes sleeping with a girl under false pretext where the girl is unaware of the nature and consequences of the act to which she gives consent.....dev is a filthy pervert who took advantage of a helpless girl under the garb of being married to her , when he knew very well that in no law she will be called his legal wife...technically and realistically he did rape her....n rightfully called a rapist..... p.s---without knowing the indian law, plzz dont call others thick skulled..tthz totally uncalled for.

this is a pretty sensitive topic...and i hope more than anything, not to offend or hurt anybodies sentiments...often times the word rape is used interchangeably with other words that indicate some kind of forcing upon...i can know the definition as per what books may tell me...but to try and understand the psycological implications would be to assume what i can't really know...in what regards the story...we can only take our direction from what the victim has revealed...and though there are many words that can define what her experience was the word rape has never showed up...and like i read some where else...we cannot forse our views on geet...she tells us how she feels and what she is going through and not the other way around...
though this law may exist it does not mean that it is applied to every situation that fills the discription as per the way the law has been written...it is situational...in general something can fill the description and yet you may feel that it doesn't apply to you...taking geet's situation as a case study...she fills the description, but if we ask her if she felt she was raped...she might say no...that is why we cannot assume that she was raped just because it can be penalized by law...geet is the only one that can say what she felt...Originally posted by: HIPHOP50
That is what i don't understand...if this was rape then why was this term never used in geet. I was not aware that in India this was classed as rape and if that was the direction of the story then this storyline needed to be handled more sensitively.
