whoa. i apologize to anyone i offended by saying "thick skulled"! even i don't know where that came from. yeah, lame excuse, but truth be told, i was bitter at the moment due another debate i was having (evolution vs. intelligent design =.=). SOOO, i'm really really sorry! 😭

but i will say that i am displeased with those who say that Geet has made a big mistake by forgiving Dev, her "rapist". i don't why, but it bothers me. 😕 perhaps that's what got me using offensive words. *pinches herself*

admitting you are wrong says good things about a person...we are all capable of saying or doing things we later regret...👍🏼

apology accepted. But you also have to understand why many women on this forum use that word for Dev. because by Indian law it is an act of rape. that is the reason, not because of any sadistic pleasure in that word. Since dev being indian commited this act on indian soil with an indian woman, law will condemn him with the charge of rape and the verdict for that is 7 years of rigorous imrpisonment. that is also the reason, many of us are unable to come to terms with it because indian govt and judiciary recognises it as that.

excellent point! and i do understand! i should understand, cuz i'm in AP Gov studying the judiciary system =.= meh, the system in the U.S. is state based...i'm sure that the Southern States share India's law on the matter, and the Northern states are more liberal...*goes on blabbing about American law*

do you live in US? By the what is AP? I live in new jersey. But i grew up in India so i am familiar with a lot of indian laws, like marriage act, divorce laws, etc etc. No i am not a lawyer and despite my understanding of some of these laws, i truly am very happily married.😆

But the Law in some countries might interpret it as such ...to see that justice is given to victims of deciet.

👍🏼 It is takes a lot of courage to admit you are wrong and apologise.....so my respect to you

I would like to thank everyone for helping me understand why this word was being used. In England, the law is different regarding rape and through this forum...i can say i have learnt something new. so once again my thanks.

I'm glad healthy discussions are still possible on this forum as i wasn't too sure of the response i would get.😊

Just copying and pasting what has been written in the section 375 of Indian Penal Code -

According to the Indian Penal Code, 1860, a man is said to have committed 'rape' when he has had sexual intercourse with a woman under these conditions :

a. Against her will

b. With her consent when her consent has been obtained by putting her or any person in whom she is interested in, in fear of death or hurt.

c. With her consent, when the man knows that he is not her husband and that her consent is given because she believes that he is another man to whom she is or believes herself to be lawfully married. (applicable to Dev)

d. With her consent, when at the time of giving such a consent, by reason of unsoundness of mind or intoxication on the administration by him personally or through another of any stupefying or unwholesome substance, she is unable to understand the nature of the consequences of that of which she gives consent.

e. With or without her consent, when she is under 16 years of age.

Where rape is proved, the minimum punishment is ten years for custodial rape, gang rape, rape of pregnant women and minor girls under the age of 12 and seven years in other cases .

I used word 'rapist' as i could not find better word for dev... Ok even if it is good to forgive for healing of your wounds still it does not mean that geet should play or sing or dance or ... with dev its not good from any point of view

Yes, Mystrygurl is right. Rapist force himself on other person but deceiving a girl by fake marriage & taking advantage is even worst. Playing with her emotions is worst crime. There are Penal Codess that says you can rit person 4 emotionally distressing U. FAKE MARRIAGE destroys everything 4 person.
