The word "rapist" is quite strong statement...a rapist is someone who forces someone against their will to perform a sexual act and sometimes violence is used. This word has been used a lot on this forum and it makes me very uncomfortable.

Dev did not actually rape geet. She gave her consent because she thought he was her husband....there is a big difference.

Yes geet is a victim of deceit but to say she was raped....i personally feel is wrong. I have been around victims of rape and some have forgiven the perpetrators as they feel this is part of the healing process.
So please just think before you make some statements.

Yea I always thought that the word rape implied something stronger and from what I've learnt in school, etc they've always given this definition. And I said yes, ok, Dev wasn't technically married to her but she did give her consent .. he cheated her but didn't exactly rape her.
Thanx for the post!

No, someone else already had made a post this long back......technically under some code/rule of India......sexual intercourse under false pretence meaning false marriage is termed as rape.

Shivz: Woah really? Ok that puts it under a whole new light then .. I never knew that. Thanx for telling!
I've only known the definition for what they define it as here but I didn't know they considered it that in India. I guess that's why people have classified it as that then.

really? 😲 well, then...personally, i don't think it should be called rape. and if it is, shouldn't they categorize different degrees of rape? i know, the pain and suffering of a woman cannot be categorized...it's all the same. but still...there's still a major difference b/w what Dev did to Geet and a situation that is completely forced.
meh, this topic is making me sad now. 😭 (ah, ik, ik, why'd i comment in the first place? cuz i'm a douche bag, that's why 😆)

I agree with you....there should be different degrees to it....how can it be called rape when both parties are consenting. Deceit...is something else entirely. Like i said....there is a world of difference between someone being forced and someone consenting.

yaar i had no idea that it was rape either....but i remember LONG LONG back around July or August...someone had made post.....and said that it is called rape.
yes, it wasn't forced.....but think about it had she known that this marriage was fake...would she have slept with him? so in a way it is a type of dhoka....a sham.....under false pretences.....so this would "techinically" be termed as rape.Confused
And about consenting......what about the fact when the girl finds out that she has been betrayed? That the man that she gave herself too robbed her innocence and left? What happens to the consent then? So that consent doesn't matter after.
