Although it had only been a couple of months since they last saw each other it felt like a lifetime for them both. So both were eager for this day and as it had arrived both were jittery and over the moon at the prospect of seeing each other once again. Geet Handa will see the one man she trusted her whole life with, her companion, savior and lover. While Maan Singh Khurana will meet the lady that taught him how to live again and be happy. Both in their individual rights have been through so much that left them shattered but together they helped each other put the pieces together. In the process their hearts also joined together and love blossomed before they knew it.
At the age of 10 Maan's parents had gotten divorced and being an only child it caused him much pain. He felt that the breakup was his fault and hated himself for it so he began to shut everyone out of his life. His father moved to the west coast to expand his business while his mother lived in New York to continue her job. So Maan spilt up his year by spending the school days with his mother and visiting his father during vacation break. Maan was now 16 and came back to San Diego to spend time with his father. Since Maan preferred to spend his days alone he would often frequent the beach and watch the waves roll in and wash the shore. He looked amiss and lost sitting in the sand staring out in the wide expanse of water with his pants rolled up and hands loosely hanging across his knees. This is how Geet found him. She had decided to get away from her crazy life by taking a stroll on the beach. Life hadn't been good to her either, after the death of her father she and her mother moved to the US for a better life. They struggled and Geet had lost her spark when she lost not only her beloved father but also had to leave behind her friends. But slowly she was getting accustomed to this lonesome life and only focused on her studies and mother. But soon this was about the change. Geet looked peculiarly at the guy sitting here and for some odd reason she felt the need to be with him. She made her way towards him asked if she could sit down. When he looked up the instant he heard her sweet voice. He simply nodded and she took her place. Together they watched the sun set in silence. They repeated this ritual for days, they never spoke a word the presence of each other was enough. Finally after two weeks, Geet broke the silence and said "What's your name?" Maan looked up confused and said "why do you care?" She replied, "Well I've been sitting with you watching the sunset for almost two weeks and we don't know a thing about each other. And from what I can tell you seem like me, lonely and lost. Maybe we could be friends?" Although they had being seeing each other everyday for the past days, Maan had never looked her closely and now that he had it was hard for him to look away. After a few seconds he snapped back into reality and said, "Maan, my name is Maan." They exchanged names and spoke of random things, slowly their meetings had less silence and more words. Maan mostly told Geet about his ambitions and desires for his future which included only becoming successful. When questioned about his family, his face fell and Geet gathered since had poked a nerve and quickly retracted and said "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it." But some odd reason he felt like actually talking to her about and told Geet how he felt responsible for the breakup of his family. Geet was heartbroken, she thought how could he even think like this and quickly told him so. He wouldn't believe but Geet persisted and told him "I know how it feels not to have a family I mean I too don't have both my parents. My father died and so it's only me and my mother. At first I also felt that maybe God was punishing me for something and that's why he took away my father, my happiness but I realize now that it's not the case. In life some things just aren't meant to be. In life we have to give up something to gain something. We may not realize what we will gain now but we certainly will one day in the future." Geet by now had tears rolling down her cheek and her lips were trembling. Maan looked her and saw so much strength and courage in her, he wiped away her tears and hugged her. They sat together and let their past grief wash away like the waves.
After that fateful night ten years ago, Maan and Geet became friends. Although they lived thousands of miles away, there never was a day they didn't speak to each other. Maan now looked forward to his vacations and even wanted to move and live his father but Geet was adamant against it, she said his mother would be so lonely with him. So they dealt with the obstacles and became every close. In their early twenties they realized that the happiness they had to give up in their young life was for each other's love. They realized that what God had done to them only made them stronger so that one day they could stand together in love and support each other through life's obstacles. After realizing this new found emotion for one another Maan and Geet decided to tie the knot after finishing their respective degrees. However they still have a year until the lovely day comes but today Maan was coming to visit since he had gotten a few days off. It was a perfect day, the sun was out and there was a light breeze. Geet arrived at the airport, parked her car and practically sprinted inside. She looked towards the arrivals screen and saw that Maan's flight had already landed and rushed over to baggage claim. And there he was, the man that gave her so many sleepless nights and made her dream while awake. Although she could only see the back of his silhouette she recognized him. Maan had a presence that just took over the room, you didn't even need to see him to know he was there. Geet slowly crept up behind him and circled her arms around his waist and laid her head against his chiseled back. A smile lit up Maan's face when he felt her and instantly turned around and jerked her into a massive bear hug. It had been such long months since he had held her in his arms that he just wanted to take in the peaceful moment. Maan pulled away then bent down and gently kissed Geet, who eagerly responded. Slowly, they broke apart and looked into each other's eyes and smiled ear to ear. They finally got their solace now that they were together and made their way home to begin this long awaited reunion.
