Hello, Thought provoking! - spoken words of a truly liberated woman.
"As women we are very aware now that we have to learn to use our own eyes, to refuse just to see what we're told to see, by others". Perhaps this is Geet's journey.
"My brother used to ask the birds to forgive him; that sounds senseless but it is right; for all is like the ocean, all things flow and touch each other; a disturbance in one place is felt at the other end of the world. Then one would be consumed by an all embracing love. Prize this ecstasy, however senseless it may seem to MEN". (Dostoyevski).
This is perhaps Maan's journey.
Nargis, now to your echoing call:
Starting with Maan: Is this serial hyping and strengthening patriarchal values. Is it weakening the present day women power? I believe, Yes. Truly, the CVs have to draw a parallel from the modern world and not the ancient religious, ethnic, social ideology or an impermanent system of rules that made women subservient and profusely apologetic.
For some time now, the episodes seem to allow Maan to tread in Godly shoes. That Maan would appeal more in the 'Man is God' garb to a well carved Indian psyche and in so doing generate more interest from an older, well ensconced audience, tipping high the trps, is, I think, like betting on the wrong horse. Isn't it the youth and women who watch with bated breaths Maan as he is. In very simple terms, the ooohs and the aaahs and the heart applauds that arise with Maan's entry, with all his failings, trying to live life like any other, conquering the hearts of his women, angry with any failings that come his way, building empires, even correcting his wrongs. This is the Maan I would also adore to see on screen.
Considering the CV's have jumped the bandwagon instead of treating this issue seriously, for the moment we will have to accept this weak apology from Maan as compared to this absolute heart-filled grief from Geet.
But a warning to the CVs: His journey with Geet is worth exploring and worth a role reversal – learning the simple things of life from Geet. How to live life, how to enjoy the purity and goodness that life has to offer. Then perhaps everything around would cry "Many were the dreamers whose eyes were given sight, when the Spriit filled their dreams with life and form". Maan has so much to thank Geet for.
On to Geet: I remember after G&D's marriage, they went to a place where D the pervert thought of making love to her that one and only night, a chanced dark night, she runs out only to clash into Maan. What does Maan remind her – 'from the hands of a father, a brother - into the hands of a husband' - that's what a woman's life is reduced to - and thats what Geets tale would be - He was in actuality sarcastically daring her.
Prodding her to become strong within her. And Maan has constantly done that. Given her the strength to perform daring tasks. This same Geet has now learnt to cut the umbilical chord. Soon I would, assume the very near perfect yet faltering CVs would journey this girl through an untried path. That's where I assume her challenges would lie. If they are not careful to handle this very sensitive plot right now, they would lose the essence of the story and reduce it to be burnt in the long run.
but not once was it shown that she WORRIED for her baby. I mean it must be serous...her child's life must be in danger, yet GEET is shown only to be concerned with the sacrifice the Maan is making...not he potential DANGER that this baby who apparently is her first priority...supposedly over Maan...so what happened yet again. The CVs hyped Maan's sacrifice of a SR....not Geet's concern for her baby!!
As regards the baby, I have always felt a disconnect with it. With Geet carrying her baby, I have emotionally experienced the pangs of her struggling to give life to it at any cost, but to the baby, somehow episodes have missed on the magic of a growing child in the womb. Maan and Geet have been larger than life for me, than this baby.
Nargis, I am glad you are bringing this about as a reminder to CVs that they better believe in a truly untold story which is unlike any other, and have the guts to experiment with solid facts and an ambitious drive to take the story forward, immortalizing it in the real world of today. I am glad you are reminding the CVs that the youth and women of today are trusting in the precision gear to idealize the worthiness of women and idealism of youth. They better show something different and modern, wasting no time, because it is vital where the show is leading to at this juncture, the entire forthcoming episodes depend on that turn the storyline would take.
The marriage is over, a new setting is built-up, Geet's second journey starts from this point. I would reiterate the CVs should believe in a more super upped romance and deal with invigorating issues of today. eg. its time to deal with corruption and extortion - how Geet helps Annie to deal with Arjun's deviousness. And women and youth would have a moral from this defeat to Arjun. The prototype of mediocre storylines as being shown today should be shunned.
The new CVs have to have faith on a magic that can touch the hearts of this very loyal audience. They have to develop it further with a very practical, genuinely faltering and wise Maan and a new trans-magical Geet. She is already flooring audiences with her superb skills at emoting in seconds varied emotions. Is there any need for this unique show to plummet itself to an average rank with other shows. No, indeed.
