Drashti and Gurmeet and some magic called " Maaneet effect" which is only a result of "symmetry" of faces when shown together,something which an artist would be interested in and

for years many have been studying the psychological reason behind why one pair or person appeals more than others,I am not entering into it despite knowing the exact reason

behind magic of the chemistry Drashti and Gurmeet have.But the fact is series Geet shooted to sky highs becoz of the leads with a good and decent storyline.

The point is,they ( Drashmeet) are such a USP ( Unique Selling Point) that one can gain all the possible success and even that beyond imagination and never thought,provided the

technical team is not over smart and beleives in planning.

Makers of Geet striked gold by casting Drashti and Gurmeet opposite each other,luckily characters too were strong and gave a alot of scope to explore and potray them in the best

possible manner and they did for few weeks too,but one attitude cost the series big time and above all the actors and people associated with the series and it

is.................................................

" We dont bother"


Now it depends on how you look at it,whether you look at what is acheived or what could be acheived?

A) Starting with the technical team of Geet,the real heroes who are behind the scenes and are at disadvantage on both ends.

1) If anything goes wrong with the show and track,they are held responsible for being incompetant and not performing well,such is the agony that meeting expectations of Maaneet fans is not a joke for any maker and to do it consistently for 6 days a week is a task with title "Mission Impossible"

2) They hardly get applause for good work and it is been given to leads,well with Drashti and Gurmeet as leads,it is fair enough becoz these two take the scene to a level which is a momento even if seen before.

Coming to the attitude, " We dont bother"

Which is a result or decisions of channel,natural circumstances and demads of actors which need to be considered,but then it is part of the job.

1) First incidence and feel of " We dont bother" comes when lack of planning for future development of track was clearly visible from introduction of tracks mentioned several times earlier which indeed cut shot the scope to run the series for a long time with great sucess and success which would be envied by competitors becoz what fans demanded needed only simple day to day plots with pinch of drama and fictional circumstances,in short slow movement of track loved by viewers but was unfortunately rushed and reaction to fans feedback was

"We dont bother"

2) Second incidence came when Maaneet wedding was treated in the most pathetic manner,despite feedbacks and this time well in advance that a happy wedding with all functions was desired but it was rather contaminated by Arjun and Annie scenes and tracks and not just that it was made look one of the most substandard wedding ever shown on television,despite knowing the status of the show and characters Maan and Geet and what they meant to fans and what it meant to enjoy the fictional yet probably the most desired moment on television,in the show and more importantly an unfair but very very true desire of million Maaneet fans to see Gurmeet and Drashti as real life couples.

But the attitude of makers and writers was " We dont bother" and this time
"We dont care" as well.


3) Despite knowing that Arjun and Annie and track was killing the soul of the series they not just continued but infact stretched the track,clear and very open indication that fans demand and feedback stands no value and fans are mere puppies and puppets who can be used for TRP's and bussiness and when it comes to listening to feedback given by the fans they are either banned from expressing or made realise that the people working are the best in bussiness and better than fans.


The biggest myth makers in general and team Geet were living and are still living,fans are emotional jirks who react out of emotions and do not know the real life challenges which they go through.

It certainly doesnt mean fans are the best,the point is,social networking sites which are used for updates and sharing recent events should also be used for creative inputs and the ideas suggested by fans should be screened becoz what professionals cant think on most ocassions is thought by fans becoz fans think from heart and are completely involved

In corporate world this is called brainstorming session which is attended by everyone irrespective of designation and status and has equal chance of putting forth his or her word.

With television it is even better becoz social networking sites provide a virtual platform where makers have the choice of screening the inputs given by fans,but for this a platform designed with some serious intentions is needed and the makers of Geet lost big time becoz with close to one tenth of a million as fans on facebook,Geet was certainly a force to rekon which unfortunately was let down by the attitude of technical team and one message to fans.

"We dont Bother"

What they are forgetting is,with time,taste and mentality and over all the way fans think and react has changed alot and since makers have the authority they are not necessarily the best people in the bussiness and may be are just a result of opputunity

B) The Channel and their strategies:

Star One was probably the first channel to introduce a seperate platform for youngsters with a theme which could attract youngsters,just like they did for youngsters,hope the star network does something similar to attract male viewers too in particular,becoz considering the kind of work and daily schedule of most men in particular and what is offered by television as entertainment for men it is surprising that television world despite knowing has not targetted this segment which really offers great scope.

Coming down to attitude "We dont bother" by the channel.

The current state of the series Geet though good but when considered to what could have been acheived,one would strongly agree to the fact that the policies and strategic decisions taken by the network created a big hole in the success and actually is responsible for the current state of the series.

1) Star One introduced 6 days airing:

Despite knowing 5 days a week airing was the threshold and a false perception that stardom of television stars is short lived and needs to be cashed with both hands,starone introduced 6 days airing and by doing that they gave scope for parallel tracks and loop holes in the making and more importantly exhausting the leads and actors involved.

Such is the agony that when the idea was introduced an interview with the supporting cast like Abhinav ( Dev) Miss Chauhan ( Meera) was taken for their feedback over the decision from team Geet,and misguiding fans and viewers that actors and technical team was happy about it,how can they think fans are dumbos and wont figure out the credibility of the feedback and from where it was coming,becoz it wud hardly affect them.

Unlike other soaps "Geet" was at disadvantage because of 6 days airing,why?

a) Unlike other soaps,Geet was loved only for lead pairs Drashti and Gurmeet and any parallel track is badly opposed becoz most fans cant bear anyone else and out of addiction want to watch only Drashti and Gurmeet as Geet and Maan and hence expecting 100 hours of them every week was foolish from channel.

b) The reason why it was foolish from channel is becoz they served Maan and Geet scenes for 17 mins ateast,daily for 6 months and later expected fans to appreciate and accept other plots getting footage after being addicted to the leads,the only option left for fans was either to switch to internet or not watch the series at all becoz it was indeed affecting personal life and habits of many viewers.

c) Well when 6 days airing pattern was introduced,Geet had already completed 165 episodes and the main or the mother plot was reaching its dead end,unlike other new shows like Pyaar ki yeh ek kahani,Yeh ishq hayee and Dhoond legi manzil hamein which had scope to build parallel tracks becoz they were new, Geet would have found difficult to build new parallel tracks and still live upto the expectations.

d) Liking for the series and it success depends entirely upon the story of Maan and Geet and not over story of parallel tracks,for what so ever reasons,if channel and makers dont understand this then the moment a fantastic series strikes television at 9.30 pm on other channel,series Geet will be searching for viewers.Till date luckily becoz of the lead pairs addiction and only reality shows as competition,the series managed to survive becoz when the reality shows were introduced,Geet though was going through a very bad and rough patch was still followed by fans only out of hope that some day it will come back on track.

e) If makers and Star One consider the ranking of India forum as an indicator that their series is loved and is still the best then they are living in myth,the series is number one and still there becoz of the leads Drashti and Gurmeet and the day this pair is compromised on small screen for parallel tracks the effects of it would be clearly visible where the leads would still be number one but the show consistently loosing its ground,by now the effect of Arjun and Annie track might be visible and realised by makers and networks in terms of fall in

TRps which is seen and consistent in and out of series Geet in top 100 shows of India.( Whenever AA track gets more footage the show goes out of top 100 and whenever maaneet scenes are shown the show comes in top 100.)


2) Star One's decision of chopping repeat timings of Geet:

Probably the worst decision without any logic and makes many to question the capability of the decision maker who sits in the management team of Starone,can there be any reason to chop the repeat timings of the number one show and more importantly despite knowing that fans do watch repeat at 11 pm as well and if TRP's of that slot is considered too then makers would certainly feel surprised.

They did eventually revert the decision but it was a month or two later and till then most viewers had stopped watching Geet out of no choice and developed the habot of watching it on internet.

Well it is still good,but dont know if internet and repeat timings viewers are considered too,even if they are then network wont acheive much becoz internet is flooded with
unauthorised videos which makers wwud hardly gain anything from.

At the end,one suggestion to StarOne: Atleast revert decision of airing Geet for 6 days to 5 days and give some rest and consideration to personal priorities of leads and when it is Drashti and Gurmeet who carry your best show on their shoulders an exception as gesture can be definitely created as an token of appreciation towards the most prized asset starone and star network has in terms of Gurmeet and Drashti.

Starone's attitude, " We dont bother" is probably the biggest reason for Geet to eventually turn out as a series which underacheived considering the calibre it had.

Drashti and Gurmeet:

If there is any one in the series Geet who needs to be saluted it is them,consistent specatacular and high performance delivered even during when chips were down,these two and have made many feel hypnotised and say after every scene," What a maaneetastic,maaneetjastic and maaneetacular scene it was"

If the series has survived it is becoz of them,otherwise channel,makers and fans did make life difficult for many to feel "chaddo"...

The only reason I have included them too and feel even they had this attitude " We dont bother" is simply for their role played and initiatives taken in decision making of introduction of plots which would not only hamper their extent of success but would also decide the future prospects of their career.

With all due to respect to personal aspirations of Drashti and Gurmeet and as to where they want to be and where they see themselves in future,the attitude is justified if both were satisfied with the success they got and were not aiming bigger success and plots like movies and bollywood.

But if they were and want to reach heights and seriously considered themselves as a force to be reckoned even on big screen,then I must inform my beloved superstars that after so much of hard work they did lack that finishing touch when it comes to making public appearances.

One reason why bollywood big shots are so popular is becoz of the perception and image they build,well sharing personal details was great from Gurmeet in particular and Drashti too or may be their friends did,but when it comes to building that image and being cautious about their decisions,Drashti and Gurmeet looked very casual,though it has not affected them and will never ever affect them but there were chances of not just proving but placing themselves as standout personalities and stars to be reckoned.

e.g: The look in Valentines day show wasnt at all justifed and infact was a disastrous display something which DD and GC should avoid in future,luckily it was a small platform but hope so when they do get a chance to perform infront of biggies and big shots,they do it in a maneer and build up which not just surprises and rings alarming bells in the "B" town but also makes Drashti and Gurmeet feel and realise what they are in eyes of fans and what they can acheive with the backing they have.

Atlast even fans want to feel proud that they like and support their super stars and their superstars should consider fan's liking and overall impact of their decision becoz it really matters not just for the stars but for fans too,as to how their stars behave,potray and present themselves in public and more importantly on open shows and functions.

For many I looked a die hard and a very passionate fan who is so deeply involved that takes the series which is a fiction damn seriously.
But the fact is I always took Geet as a creative brilliance with perfect cast,support team and technical team and something to learn alot from becoz my natural liking and desire is to work in the entertainment sector and I have my own vision and difference in vision made me write and think and also analyse the present series in a manner never seen before and making it look boring for many who found it management thesis.

You can consider me belonging to group of people like Aamir Khan,Raju Hirani,Vishal Bhardwaj,Hrithik Roshan who beleive in planning and perfection and innovative and very logical entertainment,may be that is why if you read the old articles of mine,it had points which were minute and striked those who read it,for many to say,so so and so true Vikrant Khatri...well no intentions of hyping myself but for me Geet was always a series which was different from others which made me follow it and strive for it.

My writings were always analytical and only for one reason,I never wanted to interefere the way makers wanted to make the series,I rather wrote about their work which appealed masses and more importantly I wrote with facts and figures and proofs to motivate makers to do what they had done earlier,only to make them realise where they were right and not where they were going wrong..but only to let them know that considering the viewers of show and their likings for the series,what was right according to viewers and what they did not like at all.

Atlast fans and to some extent the leads Drashti and Gurmeet:

Attitude of fans and I would come first in the list with one feedback " We dont bother".

Ideally fans should understand,that leads cant slog day in and day out just to entertain fans,the reason why the attitude of fans and leads Drashti and Gurmeet is justified becoz fans were made addicted by makers with continous and consistent pedigree of Maaneet scenes for months and it is very obvious that the image the characters Maaneet had in fans heart and mind made many watch Geet just becoz of addiction and love for the leads making many say " we dont bother" and add to it " we want only maaneet".

Since fans are customers,who invest time and prefer your show over others,they cant be blaimed predominantly and as makers and one who is gaining financially have to understand and provide what fans were demanding.

Offcourse,fans are not at loss,they have options,if there is any one who is at gain and is gaining financially as well as socially it is the makers,channel and more importantly the leads and actors becoz it is their bread and butter and fans after a while if continously let down will either switch to other sources or would completely ignore out of feeling of disgust and irritation.

Making them feel and say. " We dont bother".

With few points of suggestion coming up next..

[General Observations for the series:

1) It is high time the channel reverts it sdecision of airing the show Geet atleast for 6 days to 5 days.

2) Parallel tracks at any point in future should invlove presence of the leads and independent tracks wont be accepted for more than 3 mins.

3) The channel and makers have great scope of entering major market,if they plan a movie with Drashti and Gurmeet as leads and script supporting the present image on the actors,specially Gurmeet is a role similar to MSK and Geet a fun loving girl.

4) The series though has lost its initial advantage can regain everything lost,if the makers and producers concentrate on Geet season 2 with a new story.

5) Remaining plots,like case,sameera and vicky shud be preferred over parallel tracks like arjun and annie.

General Observation for the television industry:

1) The actors and the technical team are the most hard working,with consistency and capability to deliver under time guidelines the best.

2) The attitude and behaviour of the technical team and stars from small screen and the perception that their career is short lived and stuck to one particular character is the major reason for not many superstars coming from small screen.

3) Lack of desire to build image and be cautious about their star value has cost the stars from small screen look smaall indeed in front of the big bolly stars.

4) Every week one show ends up shooting 100 hours of storyline,the attitude of stretching and stretching badly,one particular storyline for months and instead of concentrating on optimum footage has resulted in a very neglected attitude towards the daily soaps and men in particular hate this.

Geet is an exception and that is why,its TRP's shooted becoz new viewers flooded in from all sectors and class of societies.

5) The Tv industry has that opputunity of trial and error but for some reason after acheiving and gaining the formula does not concentrate on planning and on most occassions decisions are taken due to time constraints resulting in complete mess.

For months the only reason to be here was,give feedback...

With no intentions of negativity to be spread and only to give some clear picture of fans feel and felt,Vikrant continues to add few more to his last second article and indeed it wud be last second..

It was episode 100 when Maan and Geet were in pub and Maan is drunk that I started with my track and makers decision of showing fake engagement excited me...

Between episode 100 and 115 ( when Geet revealed her past),

I thought makers would add alot of challenges and try to extend the plot where Maan and Geet were falling love.

For instance;

After the hoshiarpur incident where Maan saves Geet yet again and both become friends,I thought makers would add plots where dadi puts Maan and Geet in funny situation making life awkward for both...

Expected some 10 episodes atleast which is two weeks fun but got only one episode ,where Maan is in office and dadi brings cake with the ring..

At that particualr moment considering that everything was going well,the series was doing great,what made the decision makers do what they did only them and god knows.

Later when dadi realises both geet and Maan were faking,she feels cheated and is upset with both making Geet finally leave the job to find some other job only to confront Maan as a client of the new firm she has joined..

This phase of seperation making Maan and Geet realise they cant live without eachother and this phase where a competitor in face of new boss comes in and makes both realise...

Making Maan say infront of everyone "Maan ki Geet" out of restlessness.....in Delhi amongst people he knows and not in Manali amongst people who hardly care who Maan Khurana was and what Geet matters to him

A crucial plot with 3 odd weeks of episode and treatment as such that would confront Maan and Geet and make Maan jealous..

Only later for Geet to come back to Maan's office and fun continues with geet in a dilema how to handle the situation where she cant live without Maan and is feeling guilty about not having said the truth...

Maan happy but a little embarrassed too for having not controlled his true feelings..

Maan and geet are in love but potray themselves as great friends..plots like sasha and tasha and their fun with Geet with new projects coming in,geet taking active part in it and Maan staring and wishing Geet realises his love for her

A plot where Maan is in dilema and is trying to impress Geet,Geet is happy but at the same time confused as to how she shud say Maan the truth..

Finally both Maan and Geet go to Manali or shimla and feel they are getting physically attracted

Maan asks Geet if she feels his feelings are not true and Geet becoz of her past keeps quiet and feels it is important to let Maan know..

Both return and Maan is forcing Geet...to say....what he wants to listen and has seen in her eyes..

comes in:

Pyaar ka ghar concept was a great thought by makers and i liked it and was a better build up to the scene where Geet reveals her past..than what was thought by me..

Geet reveals her past and Maan is shattered...

First crucial moment which depending on the plots which cud have come and wud have been easily accepted this scene cud have easily come at episode 175 if not later...

How,well imagine episode 110 and add to it atleast 10 episodes even more cud be added but now consider only 10 where becoz of fake engagement Maan and Geet are thrown in funny situations..

followed by 25 episodes of a competitor coming in,Geet clashing Maan as client and above all a competitor's track forcing both feel and realise their feelings to eventually bringing them back together in khurana constructions..

In between add song tracks and dance performances and meetings and visits and common outings and parties and finally out of restlessness

Maan says "Maan ki Geet" infront of all elites in Delhi and people who know Maan shocking dadi and every one...

how was it possible?

Well I always blaim for lack of planning by makers and for right reasons...

It is well known that writers and creative people follow trial and error formula but when the team Geet knew Maan and Geet's love story was appealing fans then I guess the trial and error ends there.

From episode 50 to 115..nearly 4 months and a TRP of 1.5 during out house scenes,a formula tested and succesfull but was not understood by makers but was understood by unprofessional like me

from episode 116 to 150: competitor plot with 150 being Maan expressing his true feelings out of restlessness

from episode 151 to 175; Geet,Maan and office and their awkwardness restlessness,clients coming in,emotional scenes,manali trip,pyaar ka ghar concept and finally the big bang..

does it sound unrealistic,trust me 175 is the least..if desired and fans supported..cud have easily stretched to 200..

but now keeping it optimum just optimum...

no arjun even if naint was not available..brij only as a reason for future build up..

again brij's track wud end on a good note where he apologises to geet,an emotional scene involving brij and geet,who realises his mistake after seeing darji and others supporting geet

certainly from 250 episodes to 300 episodes from build up to maaneet wedding to finally maaneet wedding in episode 300..

if you feel if it was possible then offcourse it was becoz the present geet team took 40 odd episodes from build up to maaneet wedding

these plots look pathetic and sound very boring though,but treatment is what matters..

Specially after wedding it was possible for makers to add even more maaneet fun with geet going to office and treatment taking a comic turn where life of Maan and Geet is celebrated.

Parallel tracks would eventually come to take their love to next level:

Like court case and trial,sameera and other challenges...

100 episodes with short and precise treatment....

If want in details elaboration then wait for a while..

But post wedding it was easy to stretch the plot to 500 episodes with fun retained becoz parallel tracks wud support and with stalker's plot it was even more easier..

Becoz stalker's plot and doctor's advice itself cud have eaten up 50 episodes without anyone getting bored..

Anyways that was just a jist of what I felt and what many fans were expecting and it was possible too...

Later when all plots were used my story would come in to add twist and continue with the same story and this time with Maan both with Drashti as Geet and Drashti as Maansi

Now for those who opposed and felt my track was bad and unacceptable think again..

My story shoots off in 2012..so it means all possible plots of present story line would be over..

Considering the present scenario dont u feel my plot gives more scope to drashti and gurmeet and characters maan and geet where they can be shown more and parallel tracks wont come in

Becoz parallele track will be maan and maansi at times and maan and geet at times and venu and maansi at times.
