very well said...star one will b proved fool if they ll alter anythin related to geet.....coz i think in my circle everyone watches geet...n my gang is crazy for MSK....bt as time changed many of them left it to 11.30....n if 11.30 slot ll b removed then i'll get hell angry...😡😡😡 coz i watch it at 9.30 for me then 11.30 for revision :):):):) noon 1.30 wid mom n eve 5 wid sis....all ladies of my home has diff time for geet...:):):) common thing is jst me....i watch it all d time...remainin times is covered by internet...:) bt seriously guys i want star one to pay more attention to geet...coz nobody is interestd in tat pyar ki sumthin sumthin...(guess wat i still cant remember d name...its hell of a long name...) well no offence to anyone in dis regard...may b my brain is too week to remember dis name...hahaha...well well well on a serious note, i want geet everytime on starone bt tats nt possible...bt at least they shud re telecast it on 11. coz tats d best time...n of course 9.30...bt i hv gt office so i missed it sumtimes...i cum late frm office...so pls pls guys cum forward n drag dis issue to appropriate authority...dis is serious...!!!

@channel, PH, Geet Team - Why are u butchering your show? We need proper promos which will attract audience. Remember the dance promo which was aired on all other star channels? The promo which thru the dance edepicted the future track..... We need a promo like that every month to promote the story expected to unfold in the next month. Ofcourse the promo should be symbolic and interesting enuf to catch the eye but not give away story....

You cannot give away a 11.00 pm or a 11.30 Pm slot of a successful show of a smaller PH to a show of a bigger PH..... Geet is doing well for Star One and hence deserves a special treatment from Star One.

Star ONe...are you reading??? Just coz Pyaar ki Yeh Ek Kahan is Shobha productions' serial, it shouldnt get that special treatment. Geet HSP is a far better show.... and in the long run the better show will get you higher revenues...so understand where your profits lie.... Yes u need to get selfish and not bow down to certain PHs just coz they r powerful..... Trust Geet HSP Fans.....Geet HSP has the ability of 1.3-1.5 TRP.... while PKYEK will stangnate at 0.7-0.8 unless ofcourse TRPs can be bought....

GEET HSP team - apart from what Bri had written about the story, you also need to pay attention to execution.... just story being logical and good wont help...if execution starts slipping then the show will go down the drain...

What should be done immediately....

1. promo every week

2. General story line based symbolic promo for airing on other star channels.... Once every month.

3. Keeping track of online viewership and not just depending on TAM ratings/TRPs

4. Get you lead actors to have their own fan pages...genuine fan pages on FB .... they may chose to update just the status msg everyday...no need to even chat with ppl....

5. Promoting these Fan pages on Geet FB by the geet admin so fans know that the pages are genuine.

6. Get back repeat telecast slot for Geet HSP at 11.00PM/11.30PM.

What fans can do immediately....

1. Fans on IF please promote the fan pages of GC and DD on FB pages and ask all fans there to join IF fan pages as IF ranking too is important.

2. Please watch the episode on TV at 9.30pm sharp. If possible shift to star one channel at 9.28pm itself...as the TRPs get recorded at sharp 9.30pm.... the instance the episode starts...

3. Make you frinds, relatives watch the serial at their houses... lol...

I think the major problem here is, inability to continue a storyline which simply cannot be stretched forever. We see the drama for five times a week. And after four-five months, one does hit a stone wall. And that is where redundancy sets in. I want to blame the script, but cannot do so anymore; at least not fully. They are churning out things because the expectation from them is to continue writing a story which probably should have ended few months ago.

Its the pattern in which the series is operating is the bottleneck. Had they shed their inhibition and made the drama into a gritty social drama underplaying romance and liberally sullied their hands with the problems they mentioned in early part of the series, many audience would still be around and newer ones would have started tuning in. But nullifying a strong ego centric male with mixed social consciousness to a Mills and Boons protagonist is not going to retain people. Assuming that is a huge risk, is it not? What if TRPs hit rock bottom? (Its a high possibility. Like you mentioned in your post, why would anyone want to see angst which happens in real life?) So, the safes bet is to stick to conventional storyline which is already done a million times. If not anything, the cute moments between the leads will satiate viewers. And to continue with this way of operating, Geet and Maan will always have this push-pull relationship going on with them.

Improve TRPs? Fix story. Go unconventional. Stick to original characterization. Go back to basics and deal with social issues. Split to seasons. Have a theme for each season and one multiple story lines which lead to a common goal. Maybe then people will come back and watch?

Social drama: Works for some time.
Romance: Works for some time
Good Story Telling: Works all the time [eg: Malgudi Days]

The art is in mixing all of these.

Where Star One fails, is in reach, targeting the segments, new line of thinking on aggressive marketing techniques, risk taking ability, fundamental understanding and lack of proper consumer perception as to their audience, viewership segments, audience choices.

Balance, balance, balance!!!
