I agree with what you have said about the gaps in the picture. If I just put my logical brain based on evidence presented and analyze, there are huge character inconsistencies!!
About the latter, I always thought it was the former as a result of the latter! How does an 18 year old without a cause become strong and independent when she comes from a conservative, small town family where women are told that their only purpose is to find a good husband and be a good wife!
About your last part, I agree with your wholeheartedly! I dont think Geet has managed to become strong and stand up for herself from any angle! Actually what was shown was just her trying to disprove to MSK with her arguments that she doesnt need his help and hook or crook she will get her way, which is what we saw!! So from just the perspective that she is an 18 year old, who knows how to prove get her point across: she succeeded!!
And if anything, no circumstances were shown to prove that she could stand up for herself! The screenplay provided no such opportunity and it was more about settling some score!!

Yasu - Heyy! 🤗 He doesn't need to make her feel guilty...she already does. and if I know Geet she will feel guilty anyways. She maybe angry wit him, but i don't think she ever imagined she wud slap him. Don't forget he is her world, just like she is for him. Even though they are fighting, that fact does not change.

Geet walks out after breaking down and hitting dude with hajaar senti dialogues. 😭
Dude does introspection comes to senses.
Shows up at Meera's to meet Geet.
Geet in the meantime has discovered Meera and Dev 😲 and so she is packing 😉 especially since she does not want to be a kabab mein haddi 🤣🤣
Maan shows up and that is where bharat milaap will happen 🤣🤣🤣 aka he meets Dev.
Both bros have a convo in which Dev is trying to tell Maan what NT did and Maan does not listen.
He tells Dev you are dead to me and I got you out only cos daadi asked.
Geet overhears 😲 and stands stunned and cries cos she misjudged Maan. and she stands there crying.
Maan sees her standing there and she runs inside her room crying. He runs behind her and falls to his knees and apologizes with tears in his eyes 😭.
Geet goes down on her knees too and tells her she is sorry for not trusting him. 😭
Both finish 2 kleenex dabbas between them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Outside Dev also finishes and kleenex dabba 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and so does Meera 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Then Maan says I will not allow you to stay here for one more second and takes Geet back to the outhouse 🤣🤣🤣
