@ Jake-lover: The show started out to portray reality, but it has moved on to fantasy.

@Jake: Good points and would totally agree with you IF Maan has not been around ever since she started getting into trouble and putting his neck in line all the time to save her....she knows he has strong feelings for her...he does not go and tell all and sundry that his life is incomplete without them....he has told that as long as he is alive, her past cannot hurt her....and he has said his home is her 'ghar'....so she should have told him in HP itself about her past and should have given him a fair chance....she should not have accepted the ring, if she is so concerned about his REAL reason behind giving her the ring....and what does she think...that Maan will unconditionally accept her if he says ILU and then she reveals the past?????? what is the guarantee after confessing his love for her, he finds out that she is pregnant and cannot deal with it.....she has ALWAYS has the risk...so why not come out in the open and show her trust in him as he expects (he is expecting her to confess about her past to him, as a sign of her trust...)...
In a show like this where one is trying to portray the harsh realities of society, you should only have on protagonist. In this case just Geet.
Geet is still the protagonist of the show. Maan is a part of Geet's life, therefore it is necessary to show him. And he is and will continue to be a big part of her life.
It is the only way to show the true impact of the struggle which these women go through.
I disagree...I think so far, we have seen Geet struggle to come to terms with her wounds. And for an 18 year old with such a dark past, she has retained her goodness and is quite resilient. The fact that she packed her bags, left her hometown, got a job in Delhi, and is making her own living, shows that it is SHE who is making her life's decisions. I don't understand why her falling in love somehow takes away from the impact of her struggle. Maan was not making these decisions for her. Yes, he has been her savior but she has never once asked him to be there for all the time...that part, I suppose, the CVs are trying to portray as destiny.
Because in reality most women will be hacked by their family and they few that runaway and survive will have to struggle on their own. The knight with his shining armor aspect is a fairy tale in real life.
Tell me CVs how many women will get a knight with his shining armor in life? May be one in a million.
Maybe Geet is that one in a million then š. But seriously, it is not that impossible...believe me, there are good men in the world...and I say this because I have both read and seen real love stories that are even better than fairy tales, precisely b/c they are real.
In real life these young women will be condemned by society.
Probably in India. I live in the U.S. and here it is no one's damn business. But I suppose, again, that is Geet's strength...she wants to live life on her own terms and that means having her baby.
Also CVs, I do not think that you guys realized how popular Gurmeet really was when you asked him to star lead with Drashti. The pair makes your show and gives high TRPs. Especially Gurmeet (this is the impression I get from the majority of the comments and votes he has gotten. So his character, MSK can no longer be low key as it should have been.
I will agree with Jake-lover here (sorry, don't know ur name). Drashti is equally popular and just try replacing her as Geet and there will be an uproar. It's the duo's chemistry that is appreciated and brings the Trps. š
With that said, moving forward.
The beginning of the series portrayed Geet at a decent maturity level with strong characteristics. She stood up to her family even before she was "fake married" and continued to do so to gain justice for herself. The day which he confronted her family for wanting her for dead; Geet was mature and profound.
Then why now in Delhi are you guys making more and more immature? It is one thing to allow her be funny and another to make her be immature. Also, keep in mind that you are pairing her with a mature business man, who I hope is only 20 or 21.
I am sorry but I just don't know why age matters so much! In real life, people with a age gap as much as 20 years fall in love. Since ur post is about getting real, I don't know why Maan's age makes much difference. Some people find it "eww" that there would be a wide gap between the two, which honestly only shows immaturity as love is not based on age. And I think the CVs are trying to portray a destined unconditional love story here, one that overcomes barriers.
Geet should be the one to fight her battle herself and not Mann. It is the only way she will get an ounce and only an ounce of satisfaction. I say only an ounce and not total satisfaction because no matter what she does to Dev and NT, she will never be able to get her innocence, virtue back.
CVs, you failed miserably thus far, to name THE MOST IMPORTANT CRIME {caps for emphasis only} that happened to Geet and that is RAPE.
Dev, NT, Dev's mom and sister, stole from Geet; then Dev fake marries Geet, who thinks the wedding is real. Dev knowing that the wedding is fake still sleeps with Geet. Any woman would give herself completely to her husband on their wedding night, so what's my problem with this scenario?
Here let me continue' The wedding was not real, so therefore Dev raped Geet. Geet would not have slept with Dev had she known that the wedding was fake and Dev was not her husband, hence the violation of Geet. As Geet's "true consent" was not giving since the truth was not told to her. Not only did he rape her under these false pretenses but he stole from her yet again, her land. And now she is pregnant. Why haven't you had Geet acknowledge this crime of rape?
I am not sure if I would qualify what happened with Geet as rape. I would say it was fraud. The crucial element that defines rape is that it is not consentual and here, Geet consented...Granted, she thought he was her husband when in reality, the marriage was fake. Dev took advantage of her but he did not force her physically against her will...which is the basis of rape, that it is against someone's will. Even a husband can rape his wife...which is against the law. At least, here in the U.S. it's against the law, despite being married and all. But the marriage being fake n Geet not knowing the truth are fall under the category of fraud and intentional deception, by which they took advantage of Geet, both physically, materialistically, and emotionally. It is not technically rape although it was still wrong. I hope that makes sense.
From reading a lot of the threads on IF and FB, a lot of people are not aware that this is rape. Many think rape occurs with physical hitting; this is not true. A person, does not have to be physically hit to be raped. If "true consent" for any sexual act is not given by all parties involved, then it is rape.
Why should Geet have her rapist child? She will be suffering for the rest of her life and on top of that by looking at that child she will suffering even more. Contrary to popular believe, children from rape does put a strain any relationship not just intimate ones.
For everyone who is talking about keeping baby; let me say this
When a woman gives birth to a child that was conceived by her and her husband/lover; in that baby, she looks for his features, his smile, his eyes, that baby is a symbol of their love.
Well a baby from rape is a symbol of deceit, hurt, pain, and violation and a rape victim will always see her rapist in her child.
To answer this question, I think you need to look at this from Geet's POV. Geet has risked her life for this child. She does NOT see this as Dev's child. She ADORES her unborn child! If all Geet remembered was the deception, hurt, pain, WHY would she so desperately want to keep the baby in the first place???
She considers the baby to be HER child! A part of her. I think a lot of people have issue with the baby only because that is how THEY would feel if they were in Geet's shoes...this is how they would view the child. But remember, we are not Geet. In Geet's eyes, the baby is innocent and is her precious child...the baby did nothing wrong. The baby is a source of JOY in Geet's life....I don't know how else to say it but the baby does not symbolize anything of the sort that, that you and a lot of others against the baby feel...you need to see this through Geet's eyes..and not your own personal subjective opinion. Sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh..I am just trying to be objective and look at it from Geet's POV.
Therefore Geet should not have the baby.
The pregnancy track issue.
CVs, you should have given more importance to this issue if you wanted Geet to be pregnant. All you did was made her have three dizzy spells, faint once and touch her belly three times.
No pregnant woman does the following things and still remains pregnant. And these are not activities a doctor would recommend either. And these are grounds for a miscarriage.
1. Jump off the balcony of her house when trying to escape Brij.
2. She ran so fast and so long of a distance.
3. She fell on her belly on Chunnis' grave while running.
4. She then fell on her belly again while running when Brij and his gang through the knife into her leg.
5. She does not even have an itsy bitsy baby bump and it is running on five months.
For those of you who are whining that you didn't get a belly until 6 or 7 months and other symptoms. Keep in mind that this in on TV and CVs need to use visual aids to grab the audience's attention. They failed to do this with the pregnancy track.
So the CVs, should not let Geet be pregnant.
Again, I would say this is cinematic liberty. This is their show and yes, the show has been on air for a few months but the time frame in the show itself can't be more than 4 months. And most women with their first pregnancy don't start showing until almost at least 5 or plus months. It really depends. Again, I am not too bothered by this but I guess everyone has different preferences.
And I would hope the baby stays because honestly, this is the basis, the underlying catch that keeps Geet wanting to leave Maan. So, I would love it if the CVs showed her having her baby and being with Maan. All her battles should not go to waste and alongside, the CVs can portray that real love truly is unconditional. And believe me, I do know of a real story where a girl was raped and she wanted to keep the baby. Her boyfriend completely supported her....and they are now married, with the baby. So, honestly, it is not that unreal.
September 7, 2010 Episode:Engagement scene:
Because of the way this scene was executed Geet better not be pregnant. Here is why:
If Mann had given her the ring during the engagement party scene yesterday and she accepted it would have been ok because nothing heartfelt was said or shown.
BUT' After Geet's "teeny bopper" way of getting her confirmation of Mann's feelings makes her acceptance of the ring today question her integrity because she has not told him the truth.
On top of knowing Mann's true feelings for her. In today's episode Mann's proposal to Geet was true in every sense, it came from his heart as his words and actions proves this and Geet knows this, yet she accepted the ring without telling him about her past, which will question her integrity if she is pregnant and therefore the CVs should not make her pregnant because Geet's INTEGRITY is very important in this story.
And as for Geet's integrity...all I have to say is that in today's episode, Geet questioned Maan. She wants to know his intentions. Remember, Maan has hired Geet to play the role of his fake fiance. Sure, he cares and shows as much but in no way, has he directly said to Geet that their engagement is real...even Maan was shown questioning himself as to why he put the ring on her. I am not saying Geet is waiting for him to confess his love b4 telling him the truth...she wants to know his intentions in terms of the engagement...whether it's fake or does he have an hidden agenda? Remember in today's episode when she asked her questions, he said some things don't have reasons and then she said "MSK and do something w/o forethought? without reason or planning?" She knows he does not just do things without thinking ahead...without reason. And she wants to know how far he intends to take this fake fiance business...b/c the truth is bound to come out sooner or later. She, again is not waiting for a confession but a confirmation that to him this engagement is more than just the show he's putting on for everyone. Once she gets that confirmation, she will tell him b/c she will want to protect him from herself and not tarnish his image with her past. I dunno if I am making sense anymore. šš
Anyways, it was interesting reading your post. Gave me a lot to think about š. I really hope u don't take anything I said in the wrong way. It was in no way meant to criticize or hurt your sentiments. Just my two cents. š³
Great topic though! šš¼
I would have never quoted all that. š Nice work, Cookies! š
Shows are supposed to entertain you as well as show you connections with the reality. If it was only for pure entertainment I am sure Geet wouldnt have as much fan base as it does.Originally posted by: punjabi.princes
Geet rocks and its just a show. purely for entertainment purposes. So lets just enjoy and wait and watch what happens š
September 9th Episode
Although I loved today's episode, Mahi and all. Yes the eye locks, the smile and bashfulness from Geet šš¼āŗļø. Oh and the MSk ignoring Sasha, woooooooooohoooooooooooooo, me likey š.
CVs thank you for letting Geet wear her dupatta correctly.
Please don't play the music over the actors when they are speaking, especially when they lower their voice as it is difficult to hear them.
I did not like that the CVs are yet again lowering Geet's integrity level š”. MSK has been speaking to Geet from his heart including today's episode. She has yet to tell him the truth about her past. Mann had previously told Geet that he hated lies on the Kurbhan Hua track. Today he tells her that TRUTH and TRUST is important and on top of that he compliments her so well on her character, integrity. In today's episode Geet even thought of herself that she is deceiving Mann. CVs should have not put Geet's character in this position.
Why did you guys have Mann interrupt her yet again?
I understand that she is planning on telling him, but she should have told him before today's episode as Mann has already spilled so much. I could see and feel the knife piercing Geet's heart as Mann compliment her characteristics. Instead of enjoying them and letting his word caress her entire being, she is feeling guilty š”. I blame the CVs for this.
I just don't get why, why is it necessary to comprise her integrity. Geet's past confession needs to come first before a love confession; if not, it looks like a bargain and a cheap one at that.
