Thanks Twin. Yes, we do get too involved with ourselves that we frequently forget the pain/desires of our loved ones.
Actually as I mentioned here, the inspiration for this fic is a short story I read in the Reader Digest may be two decades ago. I do not remember all the details of this story except that it was about this British nurse who took care of an Irish guy (I think he was a soldier) who lost his eye in an IRA bombing. While he was at the hospital, there is a fire accident and in trying to save him she gets scarred for life. In the original story, I dont think he had any chance of regaining his sight unlike here where I had made it a bit more dramatic by giving him a chance to see which he gave up for saving her. Well, had to add some masala I guess.
What I wrote here is pretty much what the original herione of the story said - The man I love cannot see me. So it does not matter to me how I look - or something to that effect. Both their families were against their match because not only was there a problem with their nationalities but also their religions (she was protestant and he was catholic). They get married nonetheless as their love wins at the end and they are happy despite the fact that he is blind and she is scarred. So such selfless love does exist in real world.
😆😆... Wow, such selfless devotion towards one's love.. This should be an inspiration for ppl.. I think these days many of us are in love with idea of love and not in love with ther person ( Ppl dont throw chappals at me).. This is what I felt from some of the incidents I have seen in life.. Though I am in no position to speak as I too feel in love in my teens 😳😳😳..
He is the anchor in my life and vice versa.. Just a couple of words or the presence of love and lifts our spirits when we are down and tired from fighting the world... We have grown individually and our relation too has grown with the passage of life..
But such incidents make us understand how much more we have to grown as people and how much deeper is the element of love... See they have overcome the differences and in theri personal lives, they happy.. I am sure now the families too are happy.. And what do our parents want for their children - their happiness.. I would love to read ur other FFs. Do u have them in a word or something?/ Easier navigation for me 😳😳😳
I fully agree with the bolded portion. Very often we get carried away by the romance of love. Love is not always romance and may at times requires some hard working too, especially when the person you love does not act according to what you imagine him/her to be. Overcoming opposition from one's family to get one's love may be the easy part. Living with the person you love day in and day out, seeing all the flaws in that person and still accepting that person for whatever he is/she is is the more difficult part because after the first flush of romance fades, what remains is the hard reality of life. Sacrifices, adjustments, consideration are all elements essential to make any relationship work, more so when the other person is not related to you by blood but still you have one of the longest relationsip with (God willing). My michi fic "Great Expectations" is all about this adjustment in marriage.
I'll hunt out the other links. I had pasted all the updates together for all my fics after I had completed it so that it is easier for the reader to go through the entire lot at one go, if he/she has the patience to. In fact I myself go to the respective pages to hunt down my stories. Pretty disorganised I must say.
