@Adits:even I was in school that time😆...and they were showing bold love making scenes between Savi and KT who were involved in extra-marital affair..the show generated quite a stir among the viewers...but it was applauded for its honesty and portraying some of the harsh realities of our society👏...I remember my entire family used to b glued to our TV sets every tuesday at 9pm when the show used to come😆😳...that time this trend of daily soaps was not there...it used to come once every week and so the creativity was never compromised based on trps👍🏼

@Suhaani:Dunno why we r going backwards...today's viewers should accept such storyline...but no we r still watching pavitra rishta na😆😆

@Manmeet:The best part about that story was there was no justification given about the extra marital affair...they showed pure passion and lust in a most bold way..later it turned into pure love..but still no justification...all characters were flawed..no sati savitri was there to lecture the viewers..very realistic show👏

Jyo! This really captures the essence that as we move forward we are also going backwards or that we are not giving the lead to courageous film makers to proceed with bold subjects that are much needed for the times.

What was appreciated in 90s is yet to be accepted in 2010. Sad, but I sure hope GEET PH will do the impossible!

a change will change their taste too....we wont be able to know ....untill its getting aired.....one has to take the initiative na..

geet is story of a protagonist ....so its fair with it ..i guess......

@ jyots : agree d creativity wsnt compromised....d fact dat der werent daily soaps...kept d interest intact.....n d story wsnt dragged........dat shw shanti fr dat matter....ws longest runnin...wid consistent viewers..fr long time....evn tara....n sum others fr dat matter.......

a frnd of mine hd 1ce told me dt shws lk mahabharat n ramayan used to enjoy 60+trps....can u beat dat...

...bt dis coz der ws no competition den...only 1 channel DD1....😆...evn 2day if v c d actual TVrs...dn DD1 shws r most watched in d nation...

dn shws lk BT soaps enjoyed 15+ at times...bt nw shws r lk 6 is max dey get....

I don't think Indian viewers r actually ready for a drastic change..blame it on our mindset..we still cannot think any man and woman can live together under one roof without the tag of a marriage...we hv seen members cribbing about how Geet can fall in love so soon..she is pregnent..she is married to Dev...bla bla....thats India😆...Shows like Hasratein were an exception...but these days many over the top daily soaps hv spoilt our mentality with those so called overdose of rituals and traditions...Viewers r used to see sacrificing characters like Ichha or Archana or Akshara...they cannot digest those characters who can break the norms of our society and opt for a live in relationship with her lover..they might straightaway reject it..

There is a reason why shows worked in those times because there was not much pressure of TRPs. Today, with each week, the storyline changes because the TRPs matter and the number of channels have increased the competition.

Fudge Sundae: The CVs will only sway in the direction where there are TRPs to garner.

cause some kids don't study, parents don't go for cable connection😉😆😆, & they stick to Dd only😳😆

@ all : frm d time daily soaps hv startd....2b b frank frm d time BTish soaps hv startd...people hv developed dis perception abt ideal woman n man....n dey r jus nt ready 2 accept nythin new...d mre tears shed by d lead characters..mre viewers enjoy......i dunno hw people lk watchin d characters cryin...wud u wanna c ny of d person related 2 u cry n in probs...wats der 2 enjoy in dat..😕..

@An:In fact in the early 90s there was no official trp system..Yes they used to take the ratings but they were not official and din't contribute to any profit or loss for the advertisers...but trp system was made official in the year 2000 by the Braodcast ministry to help the sponsors gain more profits...and then came the downfall of Creativity😆

@Adits:Those shows on Zee were all classics..,whether its Tara or Shanti on DD National...even banegi apni baat was a good show..and who can forget humlog and buniyaad on DD👏...there was no copmetition that time...viewers hv little option to go for any alternatives..so CVs had the freedom to show their real creativity which now a days is getting compromised to a huge extent with growing competition and fluctuating trps

@Bri:If Viewers appreciate the track..they will go ahead with it..if not ..then as usual apply marriage theory and go for a cliched track🥱😆...we blame the CVs..but I feel we should blame indian viewers for not able to digest the change...yes we r going backwards unfortunately..see new and unique shows like Rishta.com and Mahi vay were tried on Sony..did they work ??..no...SGP on star puls is another unique show..but why its trps is 2 or below that ??...but see pavitra rishta ,Uttaran and yeh rishta's trps...its always above 4...why ?...speaks a lot about our mindset😆
