She thought of finding a new job and leaving him for good but alas, she was forced to stay back and help Dadi find a bride for Maan. While this task caused her a lot of heart ache, she thought that in a way it was good, for then she can leave knowing he would be happy with another woman. Pari's arrival seemed to be just the solution for her predicament. She, however, did not anticipate that she will end up feeling so jealous of her presence but worse, also transparently display it in front of the one man from whom she wanted to hide all her feelings.

So when Maan confronted her at the church compound and bared his heart to her as he was confident that she too reciprocated his feelings, she had no choice but to blurt out her truth in order to ward him off and protect him from the agony which surrounded her existence. She thought that he would yell at her in anger and stomp away. She even silently prayed for this so that she will be the only one hurt. To her surprise he just stared at her blankly and fell to his knees. His vacant eyes soon displayed such searing anguish that she could not stay on and witness the torture the man was going through. If she stayed on, she knew she would have to elaborate on her past and going by the way he was taking it, the knowledge of her ordeal will leave him even more shattered. She couldn't take it any longer and decided to leave him for his own good. If he thought that she was a fallen woman, it may soften the blow. His pain could soon be replaced by anger and he will be able to move on, she reasoned and flagging an auto rickshaw she quickly left the place,.

Back at the outhouse, she deliberated on writing him a note but then decided against it, thinking that it would be better to make a clean break. The angrier he is with her for deceiving him, the better the chances that he will put her memories behind and start a new life. So she packed her bags and left without informing anyone. She did not know where she will go but only that it had to be some place far off from Delhi. As she came out, the rains had started again with greater ferocity. Despite the umbrella she was drenched before she found a rickshaw to take her to the station. As she stood in the queue not knowing what ticket to buy, she overheard the people ahead of her buying a ticket to Hyderabad. She remembered an old school friend whose father had got job as a curator in the Salar Jung Museum. She had left Hoshiarpur only a year ago. Maybe she can go to the museum and try locating her father. She was sure he will help her find a place to stay in the city. With some glimmer of hope, she walked resolutely to the ticket counter and bought a ticket to Hyderabad. As her luck would have it, soon there was an announcement that due to the storm alert, all trains in and out of the city have been cancelled. With very little money left to take care of her needs at the place of her destination, Geet had no choice but to wait at the station till the trains started plying again.

She did not know how long she sat there lost in her thoughts but she was rudely brought back to present when she heard her name being called out in the public address system.

"Miss. Geet Handa. Please report to the announcement room next to the station master's cabin. You are urgently wanted," said a sweet female voice.

Shocked to hear her name, she wondered who could be aware that she was there. It soon became obvious that there was only one person who could trace her so quickly - Maan Singh Khurana. She panicked and hurriedly picked up her bag, looking around for some shelter to duck into but was stopped in her tracks by the booming voice of her benefactor.

"Geet! Come to the announcement room immediately. Dadima is in serious condition!" he sounded both authoritative and concerned.

Alarmed to hear this, Geet rushed to the announcement room and barged in just as Maan lifted his head from the microphone and looked at her directly with piercing eyes.
